That water gets cold. My mother was born in 1935 in Chicago and was raised there. She used to swim in Lake Michigan and they had a rule that you had to come out of the water when your lips started turning purple. That was usually about 15 minutes.

Where are you all surfing on Lake Michigan? I live in Michigan too. I always wanted to learn to surf.

Curious what kind of boards work in the Lakes. Fresh water is not as buoyant as salt water and a thick/heavy wetsuit is mandatory. Something a bit thicker, flatter, and not much rocker would maybe?? Thanks for another good one !👍 👍

Any suggestions for what type of board to start out on for lake michigan. I'm an advanced wake surfer (behind boat) but have only surfed in the ocean a few times? 6'4 185 lbs.
