Got all the achievements; vods are on my channel! Just haven't gotten around to making a playlist yet lol There's a subset for multiplayer mode achievements imma do when my homie comes through one day for Smash 64. Also waiting for them to update the achievement set for Smash Remix

I will eventually, when it has retroachievements and I've done everything for the earlier gens LOL. Gonna have to do a nuzlocke run among others for gen 1, there's a mod called Regulation Red / Blue that sets up runs like that. Shieeet, still didn't finish that Green monotype run yet

Not true; emulation is not illegal. Downloading and distributing copies of backups of games that you do not own is what is illegal. Emulators themselves also aren't illegal unless they are using some form of protected coding, so, with many consoles, backing up the cartridge to run on an emulator on PC without owning the console is perfectly legal. There are also certain stipulations depending on if the copyrighted material is legally offered for distribution as well. Many games fall under a grey area where they can be freely distributed if the license holder doesn't offer a platform for customers to legally purchase the software. A lot of old games for older PC systems like DOS fall under this category.

Butterfree is great. Confusion with his powders, sheeeesh. If I didn't basically have to beat the game with Rattata for the achievements I definitely would've gotten one! That's ok though eventually I'll be doing the solo butterfree run LOL

Hey man thanks for making it haha. Had a good time! The map design for the original game it a bit archaic, so your mod was a nice way to experience the feel of the game with a better laid out, more modern kind of map design. Wasn't even expecting to find any mods when I originally started delving into that early FPS history so it was a pleasant surprise

Yeah, I ran it through Steam. There's some configuration stuff you can mess around with outside of the game to get it to run better visually, it's all posted in the Steam community.

To start, I'm using a patched version of the game from retroachievements that allows the face buttons on the DS to be used as frets. I use a wireless keyboard and an Xbox controller. In Retroarch settings for the retropad, I mapped "insert" and "home" on my keyboard to X axis + & - for the right analog. In MelonDSDS, in the controller settings under quick menu, map the right analog to emulated stylus inputs. Should automatically be mapped that way. The right analog on the controller can be used to move around the stylus pointer, and the "home" and "insert" keys will move the pointer back and forth, which is what I use for the strumming motion, although you could also use the analog on the controller. You could also map those keys to the strum buttons on an actual Guitar Hero controller if you have one for PC. I have the buttons that act as frets mapped to my keyboard buttons 3,4,5 and 6, for the green, red, yellow and blue frets, although as above you could also map them to an actual controller if you have one. Then, I mapped "tap stylus" in the controller settings to down on the left analog stick. When I start a song, I center the stylus pointer in the middle with the analog, then hold "home" on my keyboard which brings the pointer to the right, and while holding that, I hold "down" on my left analog on my controller, which initiates the touch screen contact and sets up the strumming. I then place my controller upside down on the analog, keeping it held down, so I have my hands free with my keyboard and can play almost regularly, although I have to alternate strumming between the two buttons which is a little funky, but it gets the job done.

I never heard of it before retroachievements. Learned a lot of history going through their content and it's awesome that they support it. I'd say the community is genuinely a plus towards video game preservation!

Nice, that's really maxing the game out! It's not too popular of the game, I was the first to get all the achievements for it, and since there's only been 1 other. Maxing out the lives isn't an achievement, although maxing out the score is.
