A short video showing the movement of the bell frame relative to the tower walls at Great Malvern Priory BEFORE the 2015 rehang work. The East-West movement was about 9mm and this is why the bell frame so desperately needed to be strengthened. Apologies for the poor video quality
Middle six bells at Great Malvern Priory

A short view of the pre-1887 bells being rung. These bells have been rung together like this since 1707 and were recorded in 2013. The six bells you hear in this video were augmented in 1887 to a ring of eight by adding a treble, tenor and a flat fifth. They were again augmented and the frame strengthened in 2015 and are now a fine ring of ten with a #7th semitone bell.

It is a long time since I heard this. The last and only time I heard it was in the 70s played by GTB at the Temple Church.
It's a great piece. In some ways even better than the Dubois, I think. Pleased to hear that GTB played it.

Pieces “in memoriam” Herbert Howells can be such a trap, descending into a morass of sun Howellsin cliche. Not this. Well structured and original. Beautifully played. I shall look for a copy. Also I am head over heels in love with this organ. It is what a proper English organ sounds like.
