If you don’t think Kurt knew what he was doing on guitar, just listen to the brilliant sonic dissonance of those opening “meandering” notes.. That’s called creativity at its finest. The riff and the song really shouldn’t work, but it does, and god damn does it work perfectly. There’s a risk and reward with Kurt’s off-kilter guitar choices, and that rewards pays off in two of the finest rock and roll albums of all time.

How good was he at covering his song! I love all the Cobain covers. He was an amazing performer with a lot of soul. Totally misunderstood and did not live long enough to showcase his "I want to be like Johnny Cash, sit down on acoustic guitar and enjoy it as I grow old". This performance highlights how hed have been performing in his 50s/60s/70s. Great old tunes, never die. He made fantastic 'great band' lists in his journals. You would be surprised how tasteful and vast his music interests were.
