Perseverate - Octatrack Chill LoFi Beat
Chill LoFi beat created all on the Elektron Octatrack. A lot of slice editing and arranging was done to make the samples fit well together. The LO-FI effect with some LFOs and parameter locking were used to create the panning and rapid tremolo effects for the main guitar sample. Artwork generated with MidJourney AI. Enjoy.

Cinematic ambient on Octatrack MKII - Battle of darkness and light
มุมมอง 6672 ปีที่แล้ว
This was made mostly using the Disturbance sound pack from Elektron. The big analog synth sound that comes in at the 0:32 mark was a sample I recorded in from my Analog Four. I have been gravitating more towards relaxing ambient style music. My goal was to make something calm and beautiful, but there is also a bit of darkness and uneasiness mixed in. The sounds of uneasiness were unintentional,...
Chill downtempo jam with Digitone and Digitakt
มุมมอง 5772 ปีที่แล้ว
A relaxing jam using the Digitakt and Digitone. The Octatrack isn't really doing much. It is adding some light EQ/compression to the DT/DN as a thru machine, and is also looping a rainfall sample with an LFO that slowly adjusts the volume in and out. Mastering is done via the Analog Heat and Ableton Live with iZotope Ozone.
Hardware Synth Jam w/Elektron, Sirin and Model D - "Brain Stutter"
มุมมอง 4842 ปีที่แล้ว
I built some expansion shelves for my desk and tinkered around with getting all my gear set up together so I can easily use any piece of it without re-arranging and re-cabling things. I had some random pieces of unfinished material on the A4, DN and DT that I tweaked and fit together to form a new track. I am really happy with this setup as it allows me to utilize most of my gear. I hope to do ...
Heated NDLR Jam #6 - Piece of Trash with Moog Sirin, Model D and Digitone.
มุมมอง 1K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I haven't used my NDLR for awhile so I decided to break it out perform a larger jam with multiple synths this time. The Sirin and Model D are getting fed through the Strymon Big Sky for some reverb goodness. The Digitone is mainly acting as percussion, with track 2 playing an arp to layer with the Sirin. The Analog Heat is processing the whole track. I freaking love the Round Fuzz circuit on th...
Analog Four Jam #2 - Slow Roll
มุมมอง 3.5K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I really wanted to focus on percussion and a good bassline with this one. I ended up using tracks 2 and 3 just for the percussion. That really only left me with track 4 to play around with in terms of layering other sounds or melodies. Hope you enjoy!
12,000 Feet High - Analog Four & Digitakt live recording feat. Fugue Machine
มุมมอง 6533 ปีที่แล้ว
This track has a happy vibe to it. I decided to mix things up a bit and break out my favorite iPad sequencer, the Fugue Machine. It is only controlling track 2 3 on the A4, which are the bass and pad drones. Tracks 1 4 are sequenced with the A4 itself. Digitakt is used to add in some percussion. No Analog Heat used this time. Hope you enjoy!
Analog Four Ambient Jam #1
มุมมอง 1.7K3 ปีที่แล้ว
I recently picked up an Analog Four. Here is a simple ambient jam using the Elektron A4 running through an Analog Heat (off camera). I am not quite comfortable using the A4 yet. I don't think many of the presets are very usable. That is forcing me to spend more time with sound design, which I admit I am not very good at. It seems challenging to really get the A4 dialed in, but hopefully this wi...
Elektron Digitone + Analog Heat Distorted Jam
มุมมอง 4.8K3 ปีที่แล้ว
This jam originally started with me using the NDLR and Digitone. I eventually got a nice melody going, but the NDLR is a bit quirky sometimes. I wanted more control, so I re-created everything using the Digitone sequencer instead, and finished everything up from there. All sounds including drums are coming from the Digitone, which are passed through the Analog Heat for some heavy distortion and...
Energetic Hardware Synth Jam with Elektron Digitakt, Digitone, Heat, Moog Sirin and Model D.

Another jam using the Elektron Trio with my Model D and Sirin. I am really loving this setup, and the Analog Heat is really shaping up to be a great addition to my setup. It took awhile to get used to it, as it can easily get out of control if you aren't careful. if you dial it in properly, it really adds a lot of character to the mix. The Strymon Big Sky is of course dishing out healthy doses ...

มุมมอง 2K4 ปีที่แล้ว
I wanted to try and capture the mood from frustrating recent events, so I decided to take my newly acquired Analog Heat and destroy the heck out of some sounds. I ran this entire track through the High Gain setting for some super crunchy distortion madness. A small bit of Strymon Big Sky is being fed to each synth via the aux send/return on my hardware mixer before getting fed into the Analog H...
Moog Sirin live solo jam with Digitakt & Digitone plus Strymon Big Sky

Another jam with the Digitone Digitakt combo. This time with the Moog Sirin added for the lead which was played via the Digitone Keys MIDI channel. A healthy amount of Big Sky Reverb is added to the Sirin and the Digitone. Enjoy!

Randomly generated ambient with Digitakt + Digitone

This is kind of an experiment, so hopefully it's not too obscure or random. I learned this technique from TH-camr Aldo (tutorial here: th-cam.com/video/MLdldzRMIEc/w-d-xo.html). Basically I am using the MIDI channels on the Digitakt to randomly mute and unmute tracks. If you watch carefully, you can see the tracks muting and unmuting as the song evolves. I am also using a lot of conditional tri...

      Thanks for listening! The iPad is great to introduce some software synthesis without a bulky laptop. The NDLR is definitely one of my favorite instruments, but it requires a little patience and can be hard to tame. Sometimes you just gotta let it do its own thing. If I feel like I need more control of a certain motif, sometimes I will record the midi sequence to an Elektron sequencer and go from there. But as you can see, I''ve created many tracks with the NDLR acting as the only sequencer.

    Nice! But how are you only getting the lead to distort while the kick sounds clean? Or is the kick also going through distortion?

    • @chrislandon4629
      @chrislandon4629 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Alfie. Thanks for the question. The entire track (including the kick) is going through distortion, but the reason the kicks are clean is because the distortion is being ducked with an envelope follower. The trigger for the ducking is set so that it ducks only on the high amp spikes (the kicks). Therefore, the kicks are clean. Think of it kind of like a sidechain effect, but for distortion instead. You can really hear the ducking in action at the 0:23 mark.

    • @alfiedotwtf
      @alfiedotwtf ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrislandon4629 That's ducking via an envelope follower? Ahh, makes sense, but man that's so clean. Very nice :)

    • @chrislandon4629
      @chrislandon4629 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is just a MIDI cable going from the Digitakt to the Digitone to keep the two in sync. The Digitakt is just playing some simple percussion. The keyboard is only controlling the Digitone sounds. The Digitakt is the master sync.

    • @chrislandon4629

      I think I just had a cable that was a stereo 3.5mm on one end (op-1), and dual 1/4 jacks on the other end (pedal). A 1/4 inch to 3.5mm adapter works well too, but I am always afraid to use those because taking such a thick connection supported by a tiny little 3.5mm jack makes me nervous.

    Great Jam! Such a wonderful composition with superb sound engineering. I will be looking to your channel for expert Elektron (not too many of these) sound design and sequencing. The secret to a studio has not been solved yet, but your looks great, the time consuming programming of the Electrons are at desktop level and easy on the body to program for long periods of time, with the knob per functions more out of reach on next shelf. Stand to play the keyboard maybe? :) I am a pro solo pianist but looking at the LaunchKey as a good controller...what do you think of the keybed playability?

    • @chrislandon4629
      @chrislandon4629 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for listening! There is definitely no secret for a perfect studio setup. In fact I am still experimenting with gear placement! I think I need a keybed within easy reach (Keystep maybe?), but the Elektron boxes are always battling for that front-and-center desktop level placement due to the time spent programming. The playability of the LaunchKey is pretty good in my opinion. The overall build quality is a bit cheap feeling, mostly due to it being incredibly lightweight (seriously, the whole thing weighs next to nothing!), but the keybed itself feels good and the full size keys are a huge improvement over the smaller Keystep that I sometimes use. Unfortunately the LaunchKey is just a bit too large for my setup (hence it being on the top shelf) and I may have to compromise and utilize the smaller Keystep more. I am not much of a keys player though, so the bigger LaunchKey is a bit overkill for me. Since you are a pianist, the LaunchKey will feel MUCH better than the Keystep.

    • @WildernessMusic_GentleSerene
      @WildernessMusic_GentleSerene 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@chrislandon4629 IF this helps....I am using the L-shape arrangement where I have a three tier (stair stepped) keyboard set up as my main three 61 key performance boards, with a pull out shelf underneath for 3 Roland Boutiques. Then on the L part of the desk two tiers of smaller keyboards. This gives me good sitting positions for both programming and performing, with the least programing time on the top tier (because I have to stand to program this one) . I had to custom make my desk from wood and my own design though, so each specific instrument was positioned perfectly over the other to play and program by sliding the keyboard out for programming and pushing it back in for performing. The custom build is like playing a 3 tier church organ (3 manual, stair stepped). I have another conventional two tiered keyboard stand out of reach, this is where I program two other synths, but control these (MIDIcable) from my main 3 tier keyboards. My studio is 100% hardware, including a hardware 24track recorder.
