Very good brother

thank you for your video, I was looking for way of doing this with out a press.
Is there any difference between the yj and tj pistons and rings … the mechanic told me that i have a yj piston on my 04 tj X so i was wandering if that matter and if any benefit gained since i bought it used and not sure if i should replace it with an tj 030 oversized pistons
Your camera is to close
I don’t believe you heated the connecting rod enough..
4 min. is what it takes and works every time on all pistons !
you have to make sure the pin is moving very freely through the piston before you heat !
@@dannycoleman2849 Sarcasm my man
Question I heated mines up and only got it half way through what should I do to get it all the way?
@ Mark Dillon, I thank you for your contribution. Not many threads showing this. How did/does the application hold up? Seriously I have never tried wrist pins before and neither have my gearhead friends. Thanks, J
I,ve never done this before, needed lots of guidance, no explanation, no talking i don,t know what u did. Also need to show and tell how to remove retaining ring.
wanted to hear it but there is annoying music playing over video
That kind of pins need to be extracted by heating the conrod
You heat the rod to install them not remove them.
@@carsmytruck1 there Is a chance that removing en cold may scratch inner surface of the rod?
Nope. Heating wouldn't change that anyways because if you heat the rod with the pin inside it then it defeats the purpose since the pin will expand along with the rod.
This is why I'm glad mine are floating pins.
Great Job👍
At 5:30 ... ay pinche !
Improvising
How did you determine the depth the pin goes in?
You need a ridge reamer
Now that’s a lot of heat on that rod! I’m worried about the lack of assembly oil
This guy doesn;t mess around when it comes to shop fire safety
Pretty sure the garage just came with the 400 fire extinguisher package.
Nice Job perfect video for me since I will be replacing piston 1 on my 4.0 XJ got a hole in it !
much love Man I am just teasing you.
just taking a guess... this guy is very hazardous and spontaneously causes fires..
Love your fire extinguisher collection
what size pipes did you use?
Was wondering the same!
I liked it! Good idea
Looks like he is expecting a fire
🤣
genius.
Looks like a press is easier then all that.
Awesome! What state are you from? I'm in WI and the mosquitos pushed here as a result of that hurricane have been awful!
Thanks. We're from West Virginia and we definitely have noticed more bugs than usual here as well.
Just pulled the head on a 94 i bought with a blown head gasket. Turns out cyl 1 piston is fried. Thanks for the vid!
I have a piston that i have to remove from the number 5 ,counting from the back of the motor.
That would be #2
Do you have to remove the heads i thought i could remove it from the bottom.
I would highly recommend removing it from the top. Reinstalling it from the bottom would be near impossible, plus you might accidentally damage the crankshaft taking it out and trying to put it back from the bottom.
Would this work for pressing the pins back in?
It might be possible, but it might damage the piston. I put up another video showing how I put the new wrist pin back into the connecting rod by using a torch and jig that I made.
Close Enough! Alright cool I'll check it out.
