Take your pie and vaai Episode 17: Big Jack pie in the company of hyenas at Nossob camp
Hey guys! After another long gap we have a new take your pie and vaai episode! I should really do more of these. I was in the Kgalagadi and decided to grab a Big Jack pie for supper on Day 4 of my stay. As it was stored in the fridge I did not expect much, but at the end of the day a pie in the company of hyenas is definitely better than no pie at all...
Price: R29.99 (0.85 x Woolies) for a chicken pie
Pastry: Golden Pie Crust pastry. Dry due to refrigeration.
Size: Standard round/oval
Taste: Initially struggled to get a piece of chicken. Initially more peppery but after getting a piece of mushroom the chicken and mushroom flavour kicked in. The lady working in the shop did a good job of warming up the pie!
Verdict: 6.5/10. My mom sold big jack pies in her school tuckshop for R5 a long time ago...

Hi all I was in the Kgalagadi from the 17-22 March as a belated birthday trip. March is green season in the Kgalagadi still but the lack of rain and high temperatures meant the park was looking quite dry still, with a few patches of longer grass. Just spent 10 days at Bakgatla we have time share end of.May..then November..hhave been regulars since.1980 this is our place of peace. Just had my sisters grandson out from uk. Saw Cheetah kill of Waterbuck calf. Its mother tried to free it but no such luck the two crocs came from the mankwe dam and stole the kill . The one croc was very big . We sat for over 2 hours at first only vehicle on the sighting. The luck of the Irish Lions Mating , Leopard hunting. I guess you recall the early days when to see Ellie dung was exciting this trip herds up to 80strong. Saw at close range the last of the six males who settled.the young bulls. My special Ellie Amarula no tail passed peacefully now Mukumale last one. He is very dignified in his old age . We used.to stay at Mankwe tented.camp long closed.when they introduced Lions. The roads are being graded and much improved some paved roads ar 43:32 e not great for low suspension vehicles. My granddaughter granddaughter is becoming a guide wants to.undertake practical in Kenya . Enjoyed your video maybe our.paths may cross. Keep safe on your drives.

    • @SouthAfricanWanderer
      @SouthAfricanWanderer หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Golgrenful if you thinking of a roof top tent then it will certainly take the weight. It’s a front runner rack so they will have the necessary attachments for a roof top tent as well as the tents themselves. • @Golgrenful

Also, I saw a rare bird (for a area) , which I send photos in, and showed on rare alert list, but now I can,t see if they did confirm the sighting. Yes I had one in there but it began leaking CO2 so I’ve decided to keep the single bottle to reduce points of failure from 3 to 1 and have just got a spare diffuser off Temu for like R100. Swap them in and out and clean the with biofilm off and let it dry out for a couple weeks. The bottles last me around 3 weeks each at the moment and the CO2 flow is pretty consistent with the mix I have now

    You may be unfit, but you’ve sure got guts and determination - I could hear the struggle in your breathing! I did the same climb about 20 years ago when I was 58. But I weighed about 150 lbs at the time and was reasonably fit. My then 25 year old stepdaughter was my partner, and we had the same plan - to take the lift down. But the winds had risen such that the cable car was cancelled. Hiking back down was almost as tough as the climb up. Enjoyed your video and salute your courage.

      Thank you so much 🙏🏼 Yeah I think with a lot of my hikes it’s more will power and pushing through to the end. Coming down is tough on the knees, glutes and hamstrings 😅

    With primes, it’s not so bad, but there is image quality loss but yeah A1 is also high megapixel so cropping is better on that. But good comparison. For me the autofocus does feel slower but it’s because it’s super snappy when I don’t have it so very noticeable.

      Yes I think having the 50MP on the A1 and the ability to crop is and important caveat. Similarly the A7R5.

      Yeah 100% let’s hope Sony makes a mark 2 some time that has better performance since this one doesn’t have firmware updates
