Thank you for this video .I have one like this and i use him .Un saludo from Spain.
Very useful video for pocket size multimeter thankyou
LOL... the Victor works well: the case opens just fine if you are a bit more patient and coordinated - you must push down gently on the top so you release the pressure of that tiny tab on the inside - and it is designed to only be closed when switched off 🤷🏻!!! In the end ... any of these work just fine as simple pocket multimeters - just depends on personal preference. Note: I own a Zotek VC921 (original maker - Aneng has it as the AN8203), an Aneng AN101, a Sanwa PM3 and a Hioki 3244-60 !!! Good video
I'm aware this video is rather old, it's quite impressive nonetheless. I love it. Did you ever release the source code? Thanks in advance
The AN101 now comes with NCV, capacitance, and frequency measurements. Currently I can buy four AN101's for the price of one UT120C.
My main multi is an aneng and they are incredibly acurate and cheap ill probably get a an101 for the car
& THAT is why digital meters suck your constantly left wondering if the component you tested is good?bad? Or is the meter acting up ? Maybe my batteries are bad ,hmm they shouldn't be I just changed them ,maybe I'm not touching the leads properly? , in this case temp. testing
Just hit the screen comparison, and when you said it's really obvious, I totally thought you were looking at the precision. 3 vs 4 digits.
You really like playing up that case issue, don't you? You could always drill out a larger hole to turn the dial when it's closed. The meter itself was pretty solid.
Your ‘Review’ ..COMPLETELY MISSED, ..ANY, ..description/explanation of the USE, of the 4 ‘presumably, Calibration’ Trimpots, visible on the top end, of the UNI-T’s PCB..!! 🙄 Review judgement..? …FAIL…!! 🙄🙄
Counterfeit Hakko. The label underneath says it all. Bought one a month ago and the sticker underneath is larger. It also came without spare sponges and tips
Wrong. I have two of these as well as the Triplett version of the Victor. It replaces the second 'off' with an Amp range, 400mA. The Triplett also has an arrangement, so the wrist strap can make a tilt stand from the front cover. The slot in the case is a FEATURE as is the flipper for the probes. It prevents fools from stabbing their fingers or running down the batteries. The case itself extremely durable and protective, and designed to not open by itself. The only thing I prefer in the Aneng is the removable probes, which are terrible.
Victor also has a 3-3/4 digit display, measures AC in true-RMS, provides enough voltage for LED/SiC diode check, and it could measure capacitance down to 1 pF resolution (Unit-T can't do that due to its auto-range being stopped from going down by its very high terminal stray capacitance).
@@MST339 I am comparing the Victor to the Triplett, not the Aneng, which comes in third.
@@barrybogart5436 Yet the wrist strap of the Victor could loop through the hole in the top cover, holding it back at an angle making a nice table stand as well.
Never attempt to measure frequensy of mains with Victor 921. It simply not designed for this. Other tban that it is very accurate in most cases.

Thank you for making and posting this video. (Nice station).
Great video! Where did you find the cycles-used list for math functions?
Thanks! You can see the math functions here: www.nongnu.org/avr-libc/user-manual/benchmarks.html
@@johnstag5437 thanks!
Absolute mad lad
How do you use the function generation setting?
That AC/DC current measuring make me happy. I never saw before in this price category.. Very good meter.
Did you ever finish?
that is a really cute cat

These are great irons I have one and I get it, but who honestly needs to solder something so urgently they can't wait 2-3 minutes. Never really understood this foolishness. Are there folks out there who de-solder bombs before they explode?
It's half an hour waiting after you've soldered ten things...
The problem with slow warm up is when you are replacing multiple components and you dial the iron down while prepping or placing the next component. if you have to wait 2-3 minutes everytime, it becomes very frustrating. This unit has a standby that kicks back to temp very quickly allowing you to be more productive.
Thank you for this review
Pretty sure he has a fake Hakko FX-888D.
Was it the sticker? Only way to find out is to pop the hood i suppose
@@glennodonoghue644 Nothing about his iron is like my Hakko FX-888D and I bought mine directly from Hakko.
@@Olie956 In what way is your Hakko different? I'm waiting for my Hakko to arrive from Amazon and the first thing I'm going to do is check if its real.
@@glennodonoghue644 I will pull it out of the workshop tomorrow and watch this video and then go through to see what exactly is different.
@@Olie956 Nothing about it? It looks the same as all the other 888D videos on TH-cam.. (though the counterfeit ones are hard to distinguish too)
Very good video👍
keep going please !!!
I'm loving it! great job! did you ever finish. I'd love to build one by myself. just the raw version would be enough. ;)
Wisper like narration in most part of the video is inaudible and quite frustrating.
Ya did that trick with the time like a real magician.

I found one in a second hand market, they wanted 15 euros. Incredible. Thanks, your explanation was very clear.
where is the code and I want to connect a gamepad via Bluetooth is there a way to set the screen to go to Bluetooth setting (like in Android) to connect the gamepad and then when home is pressed (on gamepad) it goes back to the game?
A good review, thanks for sharing!
Great review, for the money you realy cant complain lidl sells great hobbyst tools
Drink more coffee and flip this stuff around faster. Like watching a nervous hamster build a nest.
you should add more water to the sponges.
They're supposed to be damp, not puddles of water. Puddles cause thermal shock.
Good review and puts mind at rest 👍🏼 As of your comments on the internals being a little on the lightweight side It states in the manual that it is for light/hobby duties and not to be taken into the work arena. So they have it covered and it does what it says on the tin. Great meter for the money 👍🏼
This is one of the best DVMs for under £10.00 you could buy from Lidl (Feb 2019). Cat3 safety. Amazing. You will not get Cat3 DVM from Chinese Ebay shops. I do not know how Lidl could source and sell at this price and still make profit. Incredible Germans.
ARVBLOG Great review to great detail (y) I wouldn't be surprised if the printed circuit board EM 3071-161228 CKN wasn't made in China, they like to use small resisters where ever they can, their quality control should be updated too....
Lol, that's 12.99 for a screwdriver with a free meter!
Where did you get that little meter tester?
I made it. :-)
"... annoying if you're an electronics engineer" Lol, if you're an electronics engineer you would have a much better meter!
This was just to see if a 13€ meter could really be CAT rated. You can get quite good EE-style meters from China for 20€ these days. I have an ANENG 860B+ that I use a lot. I should maybe do a video.
It is not annoying for peopoe like me, that have no idea about electronics and are just home consumers.
the tips come out but are glued together, I was able to separate them with two pliers!!!!!!
Thanks for the info. I've got other probes I can use for small spaces but I'm sure plenty of people will want to remove them.
Thanks for video i bay to lidl london with then paunt !
Only 300V alternative voltage!!!!
At least they aren't lying (like most Chinese meters do).
Made by all-Sun in China... ;) not a bad basic DIY meter...Just picked one up for £9.99 in Lidl... :) Brilliant , informative and reassuring review btw for a bit of a layman when it comes to DMM's. Keep up the good work!..
It's a very helpful test. thx.
I have one of these, it's good, but for really quick startup the Hakko FX-951 with it's heating element integrated into the tip is even better; it gets up to temperature in about 5 seconds. Irons using that type of technology are also good for soldering things with a large mass or ground plane as they can sense temp drop in the tip and immediately increase power to compensate. For most hobby or general use though, the FX888D is just fine. The user interface is rather awkward though.
The new FX888DX interface seems even worse, and they changed the tip style so that the T or 900M tips people already own won't fit. Boo hiss! 😖👎
Cool review and followup.
hey is it stil working ? is it good for just basic home use
Yep!
