Awesome!! Thanks for sharing this with us!!
I remember you showing me this years ago. Thank you Glenn
Hope all is well. A while back, my son Will told me you were training in Arcadia. I retired 2 years ago and started a Veterans Jiujitsu outreach program teaching vets BJJ for free. It's all voluntary and we meet 2x a week in Sierra Madre and Pasadena. You are always welcome to join us and pass on some knowledge. Merry Christmas. Good to see you here.
@@LambdinFamily just sent a message via Facebook
Thanks, Glenn! I love seeing our amazing Racers - and have spotted our house, too. Well done!
Nicely done. Have lived here my whole life. I still remember parts of my Sierra Madre elementary school song. ❤
This made me teary. The Spanish, the sweet violin, and the verse about returning home after being away. That's me. moving back to the family home after 50 years. Can you please provide the lyrics? I wasn't able to hear all the words. Thank you!
SIERRA MADRE Unpublished copy write work 1991 Stephen Farrell 108 bpm C E7 Am Am/G When life’s demands and obligations are abounding VERSE 1 Dm7 G7 Cma7 Dm7 G7 And the price you have to pay exceeds returns C E7 Am Am/G When your surroundings do not fit your disposition Dm7 G7 C F C You need a town you can rely on this I’ve learned F G Em Am Come to Sierra Madre… Pueblo paqueno de descanso CHORUS Dm7 G Cma7 C7 You can have the mountains…. @@LambdinFamily Thank you so much! Was this song ever produced? I'd love to get a recording. It's quite lovely. Does "unpublished" mean it's not available as a recording?
@@lauriedevaultart Steve now lives over on Kauai. Here is a video of a jam session on the South Shore, Koloa. Steve is on the left singing. ....th-cam.com/video/3CaLzhmUjJ0/w-d-xo.html
@@LambdinFamily Thanks, Glenn. that was fun. But Maggie's singing and violin makes the song extra special. I hope you 2 make it more "public,"... perform it at local events, if you don't already.
i m 62 and 9 months in. You are an inspiration my man.
Thank you. BJJ is an amazing art and such an enhancement to our lives.
Love this!!! Great work!!! Drop a line if you ever want to discuss techniques. - Rene Dreifuss
I remember you stating never to grip your own leg on the outside, only the inside, but I never understood why
@@nonyabizness2550 It is easier to show than explain, but in short, it changes the nature of the leverage. First, your arm is further away and therefore weaker (making head control slightly weaker and allows more defense). But really the big issue is that it limits the options that are quickly available. Bringing the arm to the inside allows much quicker access tot he Upa, Guillotine and the 100%. Second and more importantly, you can hip away from that side and not lose the grip, this makes access to the shoulder pin pioneered by Dean Lister (also known as Williams Guard") very easy. Also, you can enter into the grip it more easily from the upa or switch. The outside grip was the grip often used by the Gracie family (including Royce in VT competition). But you can see that they can't do much from there but 'hunker down' when you put it on the inside it transforms the position into a strong attacking guard. This was one of my contributions to the system.
@@radicalmma I love it! I am surprised its not used more often in mma. Everything is easisr said than done when you're getting punched. Ever develop a strategy to move to a technical stand up from there?
Actually I was just teaching it. MMA guards must have three components, the ability to generate opportunities for submissions, sweeps and, most importantly, the ability to stand up and disengage. So all three are emphasized in my Rat Guard system for MMA.
I’m 55, need all the tricks I can find… Thanks.
You're Awesome for an old guy. You could take me down easily Sir.
anymore over 60 bjj tutorials?
I've been posting them here on BJJ for over 60 years old.....studio.th-cam.com/channels/IvpN0P2e8q1YIC23aa-2gw.htmlvideos/upload?filter=%5B%5D&sort=%7B%22columnType%22%3A%22date%22%2C%22sortOrder%22%3A%22DESCENDING%22%7D I'll be recording and posting again soon.
I used this tonight and managed to submit a black belt for the first time. (I’m a brown belt, and 54, for the record) Felt great. Thanks!
Beautiful!
Been living in the canyon the last 2 years. Absolutely love it here.
What would be the best way to escape if I’m caught in this? Extend my leg?
that 100% is great
I don't always roll rat but when I do.... Its treacherous!
Love the lapel tricks!
Thx
I started at 59, and I’m 6 months in at a Gracie school. So far the only limitation I’ve really noticed is rolling. From Christmas to New Years our school is open mat only….no class, just rolling. Usually we do a class and I’ll roll a few times…I take a day off and back in the following day. But when I go roll 8 five minute rounds with 35-40 year old colored belts…my body is BEAT UP. I went in 2 days later and after a few rounds my buddies are asking me if I’m ok. I was done.
Don't worry - us 35-40 year olds feel the same when we go five rounds against 18-25 year olds.
Beautiful! Blessings! Bravo!
Love these videos 👏👏💪
Hurray for us old lions,we have to survive these young lions with wisdom.
I can't tell you how inspiring this is!!! I am 30 years younger than you and I can only dream of being in the shape you are when I get to your age. Subbed!!
Thanks. We've started a channel with several moves. check it out and subscribe if you are so inclined.....th-cam.com/video/wfHXOzPmV3Y/w-d-xo.html
@@LambdinFamily I just subscribed :)
Question. If you're already in the up position, why not just hip bump sweep and not worry about any of that?
Its just another option. One could also go for Kimora, 100% sweep, guillotine, or many other techniques.
i love ur moves, i can really use these right now. ty pls keep teaching us

Thank you. As a 59 year old female I find that my male comrades are afraid to push me. I'm very strong and fit - just have a lot of years on the frame. I have to up my game and this should help.
Reaping the knee?
It's not reaping if it's not all the way across your opposite hip..great move for self defense for sure.
I’m 60 and just started, thanks for the help!
I LOVE that. Thanks for posting. Will try this tomorrow when I inevitably find myself in bottom side...
That's a great threat. Stay treacherous!
Cool tune - I love the dynamic singing!
"Youth and skill no match for age and treachery" - I want that T-shirt! Very slick and smooth movements - INSPIRING!
This is fabulous! Thanks for all your techniques for old age and treachery!
This is good stuff! Rat guard for the win 🙌
Very nice. I enjoy the videos. I hope to try out the moves soon.
Thank you. I'll try and film more videos tailored for us older guys and gals. I just starting to get the hang of filming and posting. Next will be to learn how to edit.....stay tuned
Mate that is awesome. So simple but effective.
Good stuff. Practicing with my submission master dummy as we speak. Can wait to drop them on the young guys when I return.
Good stuff Glen. Thanks for sharing.
yes please
Nice, I grab my pants since it stops him from mounting. Not sure I could trap and get around that arm though I’ll give it a try, 👍
Nice! Maybe slow down just a bit ro allow for more details on each position or submission? Thanks from a 52 year old while belt.
Doesn't count because you look too damn good for a 53 year old haha
