The winker is on the left side because it makes manufacturing easier. You see, in the United Kingdom, the steering wheel is on the right, just like Japan, however the winker is on the left hand side of the steering column. Scania decided to use the base the interior of their Japanese trucks on their United Kingdom trucks.

In the UK all cars have the turn signal on the Left stalk. My Ford Focus and Toyota CHR are all on the left.

I drive trucs for living so a unit without a trailer is basically as easy to drive in city centre as a mid sized car or better

Funny, to hear about indicator on right, because in UK right handed vehicles are all with indicator stalk on left, even Japanese brands unless its import. I think HINO is only one, that you cant get with left side indicator.

It's very interesting to see, that the average size of an european Truck (what is actually very common for me) totally outsizes the J-Trucks. We have a Mitsubishi Fusō "truck" in our company... I always call it a Toy what fits into my pocket ^^° And the reason why the imported cars and trucks have the blinker on the left site is.... it's the correct site IF the steering wheel would be on the correct site too. Only GB and JP are right handed drivers... but the companys refuse to do more expensive changes as hardly nessesary, and switch those little things for "just some few customers" who refuse to drive on the correct lane. I hope you guys read out the jokes I made and don't take me for tooo serious ;) BUT, if you guys over there, need a driver, give me a call, I would LOVE to drive trucks in Jp! That's what I'm actually serious about!

Aaahh, so japanese trucks are better when you're driving them in sh*thole places with tight roads and trees in the roads. Maybe because in Europe, they maintain their roads and plan their cities with these things in mind.
