Part Twelve - Did my save survive the crash? Did I? And just when things were getting back to normal... duh dah durghhhhh!
It isn't the first time I have played this game, I was really excited when it was announced and jumped in on day one. I love space games - I have many hundreds of hours in Elite Dangerous and believe that that game could have gone so much further but the direction the developers took meant that the content became repetitive and they also stopped supporting XBOX with their updates, but the flying in that game is still the greatest you will experience, particularly the dogfighting. I also had a wonderful time in a limited playthrough of Starfield - I can't remember why I stopped playing, but things kind of went a bit strange after I got married (in game...)
However, this is not Elite Dangerous, nor is it Starfield. It isn't even the same game that it was at launch - at launch, no man's sky was really interesting, it was brightly coloured and had some amazing things to see, unfortunately those amazing things to see soon became repetitive - an animal would have a big head on one planet and a tiny head on another, and it was the discovering, uploading and renaming of these animals and vegetation that seemed to be the main gameplay. Yes, there was a story, but I swear I never found it, or it was so hidden behind riddles that I soon got bored with trying to unravel. Hello Games though have continued to develop the game and they have made some massive changes, so is it worth revisiting? Will I play more than my initial 18 hours? Who knows?
One thing is certain, the game looks beautiful, it really does.
