Ridicule and Reward | Beatitudes Ep. 9
In this short teaching, Travis Shook lays out how we can look at trials and persecutions as opportunities to trust in God and rest in his love for you. When persecuted, we can look to God as our perfect loving Father, recognizing that we have a real relationship with him now, which is the greatest blessing we could ever receive.

Persecuted for the Sake of Righteousness | Beatitudes Ep. 8
มุมมอง 3728 วันที่ผ่านมา
If Christians are thinking and living in a biblical and countercultural way, they should expect pushback and persecution from the unbelieving world. But how are we to navigate that emotionally and mentally? How do we lead our families properly and prepare them to stand for the cause of righteousness and truth in an age of wickedness and lies? In this short teaching, Casey Wilson will lay out wh...

Peacemakers, not Peacekeepers | Beatitudes Ep. 7
มุมมอง 30หลายเดือนก่อน
Christians must make peace because they are the only ones who have peace. They must not strive to keep the peace, but create true peace by the heralding of the Gospel. They must not strive to fake peace, being spineless cowards who just want to have an easy life. Again, they must make peace, wherever they go and with whoever they meet.

    So basically you need jesus to tell you not to freak out on your son for being a child and grabbing them so hard it leaves a mark? How low of morals do you have to have to think like that?

    • @kavodfamily

      The example in the video is just one of many ways to illustrate a larger point- parenting with the mindset of how Jesus would respond in all of life’s moments. It’s about demonstrating grace, patience, and love, even during life’s most frustrating moments. When we’re tempted to react harshly or out of pure emotion, we are reminded to bring it back to Jesus and how He deals with us daily

    I've kept a pretty low profile most of my life, with rather small circles. I also have a rather small online presence that has been entirely anonymous, so I don't really know how I could be persecuted as an adult for my righteousness. Nobody really should know who I am really to persecute me...

    • @kavodfamily
      @kavodfamily 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thank you for commenting! Persecution for righteousness often happens when we live our faith boldly, standing firm in a world that may not understand or accept Christ (John 15:18-20). While not everyone is called to a public role, we are all called to let our light shine (Matthew 5:16), wherever God has placed us. A quiet or anonymous faith can feel safe, but it might also mean missing chances to reflect Christ to others. Living openly in alignment with God’s Word-through our actions, words, and choices-can invite challenges. The question to ask is: Are we living in a way that shows God’s truth, even when it costs us something? Wherever you are, there are opportunities to live boldly for Him.

    Am sorry you didn't have the chance to hold an infant of your own. You know listening to you, I feel so painful, for seeing how much of love you are able to give to your adapted children. I just wanna tell you this; a mum and dad is the one that raises a child, in my opinion, a mum and dad is not the one that gave birth to the kids. Unfortunately as a single mother. I am a mum of two. My daughter feels like I am not a good mum. I cried day and night. Truth is we were best friends, but not any more. I apologized for the things she felt that I hurt her, for hurting her. In short, I think things between my daughter and I will never be the same again. Am proud of you being a great dad. I wish my daughter's dad or my son's dad would be their for their kids. God bless you, for the great advice.

    Do you think that Jesus's positive Beatitudes (blessings) from the Sermon on the Mount should be posted in our public places rather than Moses's negative admonitions from Old Testament Ten Commandments?

    • @kavodfamily
      @kavodfamily หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the comment, Betty! The teachings of Jesus found in the Beatitudes are not intended to be held up and against the Ten Commandments. The former is Jesus' exposition, or explanation, of what the heart and character of someone should be who is seeking to follow God and obey his commandments. This person is not seeking to be approved by God by his/her obedience to the Law, but rather sees the Law as a good and right guideline for how to live a life of obedience to God. The Pharisees and Sadducees of Jesus' day had so contorted the idea of obedience to the Law, including the Ten Commandments, that they had totally ignored the whole purpose of it, which was to show men and women their inability to measure up to God's perfect standard of morality and purity and thereby showing them their need for a Savior, the Messiah, Jesus Christ. The Beatitudes direct individual believers and show them a portrait of a sincere and genuine follower of Christ; the Ten Commandments show individuals, and larger corporate bodies as well, a God-given standard of conduct that doesn't earn them heaven, but does promote God-glorifying and God-honoring individuals, families, churches, and communities. To that end, it would be our opinion that believers should have the Beatitudes written on their hearts and mirrors, and that communities should have the Ten Commandments written in public places. I hope this helps answer your question. God bless!

    I am sympathetic to the question, "Is Cliff Graham still alive?" because Cliff has disappeared off the radar at times in the past decade. I am one of those people that Cliff has failed that he references at 12:38 in the episode. I invested a significant amount of money into one of Cliff's projects a decade ago, and I am still waiting for repayment. To his credit, Cliff has maintained his intention of paying back everyone who invested in his books and Israel trips years ago, and he has sent out updates throughout the years, but there has been no significant update since January of 2024 and no payments since September of 2018. I only share these details because I am hoping for an honest response about whether or not any of the proceeds from Kavod are intended to help pay off Cliff's debts. Thank you.

      Same here. I don't blame Cliff though. It's my fault for trusting him. I was even a bigger fool for thinking he would actually pay me back. Like you, I invested quite a bit of money in Cliffs projects because I believed in him and his work. I trusted him since we served together as Chaplains in the same National Guard unit. When everything went south ... radio silence. And then there were the constant updates and assurances; " were close to getting a new deal" or " I'm working to get you paid back", or "insert new excuse here". Its laughable at this point. Supposedly, there are categories of investors who get reimbursements but who knows. It's all so secretive. No one knows how many investors are involved, how much was invested, and who is getting paid (if at all). I asked but he wouldn't tell. No accountability. At this point, Id respect him if he just came forward and told all of us, "Yall ain't getting none of yo money back". Stringing us along w/ emails is simply a cruel game. Even with all of this ... I wish him the best. He is a great writer and a gifted speaker. I hope he and his Family are well.

    So surprised people are still supporting Cliff after he stole so much money from people promising a biblical trip to Israel and ended up using that money for his lavish lifestyle, went bankrupt and never returned that money to those of us that paid for that trip. He even promised to pay us all back and never did. Does that sound like the fruit of a Christ follower or someone after money??? Just asking because my family was impacted.

    Cliff Graham - if it’s the same one that wrote those books, calls himself a Christian but beware!! he stole money from my family. We paid him for a trip to Israel he was doing in 2018 and he canceled the trip and never returned our funds, he claimed bankruptcy and never made good to return our money as he promised to do. We never got our money back and never got to go to Israel.

    The people Christ had the most clashes with were the religious, conservative, church leaders. They were sooo sure they would know the Messiah when He came. They were SO wrong. Instead, He spent most of his time with sinful, liberals. Sinners. They knew they had need of God's love & mercy. They knew that they didn't know it all. They came to God's Throne with open hearts. These are the kinds of hearts that are moldable in His hands. God may decide to seat a leader for our Nation in order to punish us for our arrogance. For telling the world that we are "exceptional". The ONLY thing that EVER made the USA exceptional is God's hand of blessing on us. God is a jealous God. He was never going to let that go on unchecked. If we should elect a President in November who is not a Ceasar, we would have the Mercy of the Almighty God to thank for it.

I love the stories in the Old Testament since the first book. I know it has been mentioned that Lion of War will be revised and released in its entirety. I cannot wait. I like to read the Iliad every year and I always think that Nestor is similar to Joshua and Caleb. They're all older men who are dangerous. I can see Joshua and Caleb conversing around a camp fire retelling their exploits just as Nestor retells his exploits to the Achaeans. The violence in the Bible is similar, albeit less graphic, then Homer but war is war and the violence of war is the same across cultures. Just as Meges pierced the back of Pedaeus's head and his teeth clench on cold bronze is the same as Abner using the butt spike of a spear to impale Joab's brother, Asahel. How do most Christians think Elijah killed the prophets of Baal and Astheroth at Mt. Carmel? He probably slit throats. How do Christians think of David as a tame man when he is ascribed as a commander who killed tens of thousands? Even God describes David as a man of blood when David wants to build a permanent temple. How pg can Christians make David taking the foreskins of Philistines? Christians know where the foreskin is right? It amazes me that Christians would denounce violence, when it concerns bringing the Bible to creative historical-fiction stories, when we believe that Jesus died the most violent gory death on a Cross. If a movie is made depicting Eleazar defending himself in that Barley field that is somewhere between "300" and the passion of the Christ in violence and gore, then that would be a great and amazing action sequence. it would rival Achilles, Brad Pitt, fighting Hector in Troy. Make and write your books as raw and real as you want. I will read every letter and word from cover to cover. I love how these books connect, in me, my faith and love for ancient world history. 2nd Edit, I have a copy of Song of War!

    • @kavodfamily
      @kavodfamily 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for connecting with us! We love the depth you’re drawing between Homer’s Iliad and the biblical warriors like Joshua and Caleb. There’s something so raw and powerful in the ancient accounts of men of faith, especially when you consider their battles and how they had to rely on God in the midst of chaos and violence. As fans of Cliff’s work, we couldn’t agree more with the need for real, gritty storytelling that reflects the realities of the Bible. War is brutal, and the Bible doesn’t shy away from it, but it also highlights the strength and faith that these men had as they fought, not just physical enemies, but spiritual battles as well. We’re thrilled that Cliff is writing again and bringing these stories to life in a way that connects with our love for ancient history and faith. Keep an eye out for more from him-we’re just as excited as you are for what’s coming next! You are a lucky man to have one of those copies of Song of War. very well spoken, but I have a couple problems. first, I hope you're not saying that we need to repent of our sins for salvation. the Bible says to repent and believe the gospel. meaning, change your mind about trying to follow the law to be saved and just believe that Jesus died for your sins. of course we should turn from sins, but it's not part of the gospel message, if that's what you're saying. the only requirement to be saved is to put your trust in what Jesus did, not what you do. second, Judas never did that, "will of the Father" which is to say that He never believed He was the Messiah. even after he felt remorse he tried to make amends, he said "I have betrayed a righteous man", not "I have betrayed the Son of God". ..just something to consider. God bless!

    • @kavodfamily
      @kavodfamily 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey David, thanks for the feedback! In regards to your first comment, I believe the witness of the New Testament shows that both repentance from dead works and repentance from sin both apply to a saving response to the Gospel message. For the Jews on the day of Pentecost, the call of Peter was to repent from the dead works of the Law and believe in the finished work of the Messiah. For the Gentiles in most of Paul’s writings, the call is to repent from their sin, seeing as how they had no Law to be used to attain righteousness. I believe the fundamental message of the Gospel is to turn from sin, whether that be carnal deeds or legalistic works of righteousness, and believe in the name of Jesus, the propitiation for our sins and the Law-keeper for our righteousness, what most scholars would call the double obedience of Christ. And in regards to Judas, I would agree with you that he rejected Christ as the Messiah, but that was in fact sin, so he attempted to repent of his sin because he felt guilty, not that he was now trusting in Christ. I pray this doesn’t serve to convolute the message of the video. God bless, David!

    I agree with the scripture. It is all in how we judge. If we judge something to be as it is, it is pure. If we add our own judgements, pure things become defiled.

    • @kavodfamily
      @kavodfamily 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your thoughtful comment! Scripture indeed teaches us the importance of purity and how our judgments can either honor or defile what is pure. When we allow Christ to shape our perspective, we see things through His eyes-pure and undefiled. It’s a daily surrender, trusting His word to guide us in how we perceive and interact with the world around us.

      @@kavodfamily Thank you for the reply. Lately I've been practicing praying without ceasing, and it has changed my life. Jesus Christ saved me. As above, so below. Deny the self to be free, then the true self rises to the top.

    Sin does not cause us to incline ourselves to Christ. Sin has NO bitter sweetness & is NOT what compels us. The scripture TELLS us EXACTLY that "Christ's LOVE compels us".

    • @kavodfamily
      @kavodfamily 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you for your thoughtful comment! You’re absolutely right-it’s Christ’s love that compels us, as 2 Corinthians 5:14 reminds us. Sin separates us from God, but it’s through Christ’s love and sacrifice that we are drawn back to Him and transformed. While sin doesn’t compel us, the awareness of it often highlights our need for Christ’s love and grace to work in our lives. We appreciate your insight and are grateful for your engagement!

    Amen brother! This is so rarely preached or taught by churches today yet it is all throughout scripture. You nailed it… the key is to focus on Christ and that, through the Spirit, we will gladly let go of the things we were once in bondage too. Praise God for what He has done and is doing in us through Christ Jesus! God bless you!

    Hi. I watched this video in the right time. I felt like the chapter in Titus 1 was about me. And I want to change it. I try to let go of my old self but I fail at it many times. Please help me to kill my old self and become a new person for Jesus ❤

      Hey Matthew, we’ve all been through what you’re going through. The fact that you’re feeling that conviction is a sign that God is with you. Hold on to Him tightly and let Him tear down our flesh and transform us. Love you, brother. May God be with you.
