I found incidents Around the House mildly predictable and I felt like it dragged a bit towards the end. However, it's the only malerman book I liked. Not sure if my tastes have changed cause a lot of horror books that shouldn't work for me are working for me right now. 😬😂

I don't remember if you've read some of these (and I suppose others can consider these recs too), but these books have a competion/game/escape/adjacent element to them: The Family Game by Catherine Steadman Look in the Mirror by Catherine Steadman Full Tilt by Neal Schusterman The Twelve Days of Murder by Andreina Cordani The Club by Ellery Lloyd Under the Surface by Diana Urban Monsters Born & Made by Tanvi Berwah Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix and these I haven't read yet but they're on my TBR: BETA by Sammy Scott.. a Dark Mirror-esque SciFi where a guy is a beta-tester for a SMART Home and things... don't go so well... and Altered Estates by Chris Mathison, which has been described as the written equivalent of a live-action role-playing game. someone inherits a sprawling estate where each room holds secrets and surprises. He unravels a series of clues and encounters things that stretch the boundaries of perception.. it says "follow the main character down the rabbit hole and see if you can solve the puzzles before he does". 😄

Hell yes another person who loves The Pallbearers Club!!! Booksandlala is how I found it and I adore that book so much. Its just the right amount of pretentious!! Also you taught me something new! I noticed that "head full of (Philip) glass" joke but thought it was a very stretched reference to Paul Tremblay's other book "a head full of ghosts" (havent read it!) Now I know its for someone named Philip Glass! Thanks! 😊
