David Wilcox - Get On
From Dave's 2004 show in Portland, OR. This replaces a previously posted version of the same clip that had aspect ratio weirdness (looked fine on my computer but youtube squashed it).

David Wilcox, The Long Road
มุมมอง 18K17 ปีที่แล้ว
David playing at a very special house concert at Muikku's in 2005. He was setting up and we were checking levels, and he chose this song to test things out. He didn't play The Long Road (written by Cliff Eberhardt) during the rest of his set so I'm glad I taped him then.
I’m blinded by that white garment lol.
Not a powerhouse voice that's for sure
A treasure.
I ran across him at a small club in Dallas in 1989 or 1990, and have even followed his shows for a few years. Seeing him performing these on TH-cam is a great joy.
heard he passed today
My dad loved this song when it first came out. We were a motorcycling family. Now that I haven't ridden for a while it hits me pretty hard
So many years ago, I saw a review in Dirty Linen I think it was....about HOME AGAIN. Ordered the CD. Haven't stopped since then. David is a natural born folk singer and songwriter. Brilliant the way he spins out metaphors to make his insightful observations about how wild, whacky, and wonderful life can be.
Great song
I think I do it way better than u
In this darkness love will show the way,..where else but here show the way
I was in the third row stage left at this concert - one of the best I've been to in 50 years. This man's music is pure joy..........
One of my all time faves
In this darkness love will show the way..where else but here!
This song stopped me in my tracks when I first heard it the year it came out.
Me too and still 😪😮💨♥️
I first saw him in 1990 at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. He had incredible energy and it was the best concert ever. I've seen Billy Joel 3 or 4 times in concert, but that first Wilcox concert is still my favorite live-music memory. The radio station Cities97 used to play him all the time back then. Now I'm in Portland OR and have seen him twice here in more intimate venues - he still has the power to command all your attention. His music has just gotten deeper and deeper as he goes on.
Now I get it...
I had really hoped that his sophomore album would take him to James Taylor status, he's a great writer.
Seriously...who are the 5 skid marks that gave this video a thumbs down?
Why are people wanting a bike now? This song is about a girl dying in a bike crash
It may be a song about dying on a bike, but it's also a song about a bike. And bikes are cool. So. Cool. And fun, and awesome, and fast and slow and loud and quiet and reactive and accepting and comfortable or not and basically just... Something I pine for. Maybe some people identify with the problematic nature of the song. Maybe they want to be like the girl. Maybe they find the idea romantic. Maybe they'll do anything to get away from their homework.
Love this song. "Teen Angel" for adults.
Beautiful songwriter and singer. He gives a message of hope and joy everyday. Carpi Diem!
The song that brought solace after the murder of my wife. Thank you, David Wilcox.
beautiful lyrics....I love the way Kim Hill sings it....no offense to the beautiful David Wilcox
Once, years ago...I had a chance to sing this song with David. One of the greatest experiences of my life! Love this song and love Dave!
It be great to see David and James Taylor together.
San Bernadino shooting happened today and I needed to hear this to be reminded that "it was Love that mixed the mortar, it was Love that stacked these stones..."
Great words and song.
Oh how I love this song...have been blessed to see DW in concert thrice and I think he performed "Show The Way" on all three occasions. (There's a slim chance DW might remember the most recent of the three, in Burlington, Ontario, when my brother Bruce and I arrived at the venue nearly simultaneously with DW, and DW was clearly taken with my blue 1962 Studebaker I'd chosen to drive that day...my own little "Rusty Old American Dream"!) Steve Tournay, a fan in Hamilton, Canada
I love this song for years. this lyric is profound. it's absolutely brilliant only God conspires with lyrics I don't care what the atheists say.
I understand. If you can, give them the grace that God does.
I LOVE this song..I was so happy to finally find it on TH-cam... Now I desperately want a 'rocket bike'...to run away...hide in the pouring rain...to be a flash of light...that never felt the pain.....
Reminds me so much of being a little kid. Love this song
I think the waiter is just a metaphor for the general situation and personality type.
I am a female and I have a red honda hurricane 87 1000 love it
Motorcycles are an addiction. So are tattoos
this song is why i want a superbike
Glad to finally find this song. Now I want the bike.
Awesome!
Thank You for this song
Have u ever rode midnight I n a rain storm?
this was a magical event at my home. DW played for a couple of hours and then came in our home and we all jammed. Even my little girl sang. It is a bit overshadowed now by the fact that Katrina was underway in her rage. Little did we know....bittersweet beautiful evening.
Well said, my friend.
Ugh!
Thank you for such intelligent words
Ain't that the truth! I had a good friend, now sadly deceased, that fell into that same category, Gamble Rogers - regionally loved, nationally unknown.
open C
He's absolutely one of the best.
Absolutely marvelous!
A person who is nice to you but is not nice to the waiter is not a nice person. :) It's not just a song - it's a SIGN.
Very cool intro there. Great song, great artist.
@LiamCapt open c tuning
Does anyone know the tuning for this song?
@easterbunnyhelps It's a double meaning for a girl who gets caught up in drugs and gets past the point of no return. It ends up killing her.
