I love Jim Carey, and he’s one of the most talented comedians ever. But based on this audition, I understand why he wasn’t hired. I didn’t laugh one time. Am I missing something?
Strange that most of the people in the comments think it’s hilarious, I didn’t find it funny
@@anthonys5032 Agreed! I think 90% of the people who think it’s funny, only think that because of who he is now. Because this was extremely not funny.
How he didn't make SNL is beyond me
That Elvis thing almost killed me!
He shoukd have ended with elvis Kristin stewart stole his tiny hands nuclear bit
Amazing how they rejected Jim Carrey and said yes to a shocking amount of unmemorable people over the years!
Not being on SNL was a blessing, He would’ve be been stuck there and not have all the amazing movies he made.
Lorne definitely regrets this
I'm drinking whiskey crying in laughter. It was probably Jim Carey's best ever!!!!!!!! You can hear them laughing instantly before he even said anything. What the faaaaaak were they thinking? Someone with a small penis got way too intimidated! Oh my God!!!!
How many of you would have said yes to being invited to show that denied you employment ?????
I see why he didn’t make the cut, glad he got better.
A black film producer and black writers from in living color gave him his first break when no one believed in him
Jim Carey was atleast a decade ahead of his time
Im glad that he ended up doing in living color instead
How dumb do you have to be to turn down Jim Carrey for a comedy show
Snl talent scouts pooped the bed on this one
I think he was may have just been too zany for SNL
That was an AMAZING Henry Fonda. I'm floored.
How did they miss on this guy? Very strange
Dana Carvey was too good. Jim couldn’t compete and they only needed one type of look that year
So they say no to this and yes to Keenan Thompson?
Where's the rest?
How is making fun of thalidomide babies supposed to be funny?
If his rejection meant we got Fire Marshal Bill, Vera de Milo (amongst others), then I can only express my deepest gratitude for SNL’s comedic discretions.
The real Disney live action character .
He was better on In Living Color
Jim Carrey not getting hired just shows how clueless Lorne Michaels is.
If only he'd used better material, he'd be famous now.
Gosh dang, imagine if Jim Carrey and Phil Hartman would have got to do sketches together. Just saying, imagine that perfect world
I think I see why. He was too heavy. Not physically but his talent and appeal. Comedy needs a quick shallowness and Carrey doesn't fit into that. They probably thought, "He's really good but he's more of a solo dramatic actor and we need a team ensemble player". Also, before Carrey, physical contortion comic style had not come into vogue yet. Carrey started all that with "Ace Ventura". It wasn't till that film that Hollywood restored its respect for what was seen as an archaic comedy style that goes back to Buster Keaton. Fate intervened here and SNL made the right choice.
Worst clip i've seen
One can be too talented for an ensemble.
He was too much for them.
Not funny!!! Next
This is fucking gold
Henry Fonda impersonation is spot on. Elvis was hysterical
Wow how the hell he was not picked
SNL dodged a bullet this guy will never make it in Hollywood.
This is an example where you KNEW he did not get the job because he was TOO GOOD!
He was too good for them.
How does he know how to imitate the Fondas Lol. He's too young
SNL was like...why would you wanna come here?
I've never seen On Golden Pond but I remember it being a big deal when I was a kid. I remembered Henry Fonda enough to suddenly realize who Jim Carrey was reminding me of here. Then I put two and two together when he nailed the Katharine Hepburn. I Googled OGP strawberry, and there it was. My point being, his impressions were so spot on, I knew what he was doing without ever having seen the real scene.
He was funny...something that rarely shows nowadays.
It's because he was from Canada
Iconic
Love Jim.
Love the "On Golden Pond" impression...
Those skits were not a good fit for SNL. If he had done some of the stuff he did later as Ace Ventura, he would've raised SNL from the grave.
To bad he died so young
Modern day Jerry Lewis
