"Mirrors for princes, books of advice aimed at those who rule, have fallen out of style in our modern, supposedly democratic age. Books of advice for commoners, however, are ubiquitous, though most of them are stupid, because wisdom comes from experience, not rumination, and most authors offer only the latter. Eduard Habsburg, scion of the most famous family in European history, here rescues both genres, offering advice based on his family’s long history which is useful for both rulers and the average person. And his pithy recommendations also stir thought on matters more generally related to modern aristocrats, including the despicable modern trend toward eschewing intergenerational family wealth and power." . . .

16:31 Charles is going to give/define to us the strong gods that Reno failed to do. He advocates for to "win the power to rule." He said, "What will initiate open, two-sided conflict, if it comes, is opaque now, as it always is." Charles Identifies the real strong gods as: family, country, righteousness, and justice. Hernán Cortés was a Spanish conquistador born in 1485 in Medellín, Spain. He is best known for leading the expedition that resulted in the fall of the Aztec Empire and the establishment of Spanish rule over large parts of what is now Mexico. Godfrey of Bouillon (1060-1100) was a prominent leader of the First Crusade and the first ruler of the Kingdom of Jerusalem from 1099 to 1100. He is remembered as a key figure in the Crusades and is often depicted as an ideal Christian knight in medieval literature and legend. Robert Gould Shaw (1837-1863) was an American officer in the Union Army during the American Civil War. He is best known for commanding the 54th Massachusetts Infantry Regiment. Shaw led the 54th in the assault on Fort Wagner in South Carolina on July 18, 1863. Chris Langan (aka: The smartest man in the world) wrote on GAB, August 15, 2024, "I hate to say it, but I'm forced to reiterate what the Founding Fathers knew all too well: the only way to stop a treasonous occupation government from completing its plans for the enslavement and/or total destruction of its people is with the threat of violence backed up with real, verifiable readiness to make good on it. That's simply the way the world works." "Ordinary people find the need for violence as they lose their identity." ~Marshall McLuhan

Magyars bemoaning the decline of the Hapsburg... Well, it's too late now - the future belongs 'to the strongest' within a new Dark Age - likely around merry bands of Gypsies, tracing their illustrious line back to the event of Mongols, razing their cities - a fate which Central Europeans will share due to arms technology and normative Transatlantic geopolitics... Praise be to Sara-la-Kâli - the Great Mother of displaced and colonized Asia.

@@CharlesHaywood "The Gypsies are from India, and have no connection to the Mongols." That is the point, You pick for debate ? [grabbing the tomes] The Khwarazmian Empire fell to the Mongols in 1220 - with the last rule being defeated by Genghis Khan at the Battle of the Indus (1221). Urganch was razed by Timur in 1388. The itenerant Romani people had migrated into the Ghaznavid Empire - stretching from the Oxus to the Indus until 1186 - around 1000 (when the nomadic Magyars migrated to Europe) - they may have migrated from Kashmir unto the Iranian plateau five centuries earlier as mentioned in the Shahnameh, but since they lack historiography this can only be concluded from genetic drift. What is certain is the destruction of Islamic states of Central Asia by the Mongols during the 13th century and the arrival of the Romani across Europe in the late Medieval period. That is the historical connection between the rise of the Mongols and the migration of the Romani into Europe... I guess, You packed Your staff, already for the coming Migration Period when Eurasian forces will have to secure the Balkans through military campaigns in order to evade Transatlantic maritime power when trading with a remnant Europe - as You didn't contested that part of my statement...

I foresee great cycles between liberal and foundationalist societies. The collapse in the birth rate, the focus on the individual to the neglect of familial, communal and national interests will all lead to reaction. A reversal of history towards patriarchy and possibly theocracy. But after a few hundred years I believe people will once again long for the enlightenment, the rights of man and revolution and liberal society will reemerge again only to give way after a few centuries.

Comissary dictatorship is given already to presidents & prime ministers in constitutional republics where the people through the instrumentality of the constitution are the sovereign but with more systematic & effective circumscriptions & supports than in monarchies.

Central authority that concretizes the actions of a collective of natural interests (unity by physical proximity, economic & civic activity/necessity, history, value orientation), is best achieved in a democratic parliamentary republic with term limits for PMs where the excesses of individual executives are curbed by term limits & votes of confidence, & of ruling factions or coalitions by the threat of losing majority. The monopoly of executive power when the electoral mandate is secured is sufficient to coordinate the polity to effective action in times of crisis & chaos.

Charles, you're fundamentally correct about the military. Most combat power is based in the Combat Brigade Teams so the people with the most hard power in the military are Colonels not flag officers. They are also independent administratively and logistically from other wider organizations within the force. To give historical parallels think of the BCTs as Roman Legions and Colonels as Legate. Plus, you only need to attach more artillery and some more support units in order for them to become divisions without massively changing the structure of the unit. functionally that's what they are divisions in miniature all you need to scale up I'm only a little bit to make them so. Which also means you have a large host of men who could and all likelihood run divisions in the case of a conflagration.
