    Dàálụ́ nụ̀. Congratulations on your program about the need to speak and preserve our Enuani language (the dialect of most of the four Aniocha/Oshimili local government areas). To help you out, please consult the recent authoritative book: "ENUANI" by Inno Chukuma Onwueme (Prof), a prominent son of Enuani. The book analyzes hundreds of Enuani proverbs; and presents folk tales and insights about Enuani culture/language. You can read book excerpts or procure the book copies by searching with the author's three names on Amazon Books, Google Books, and other online book outlets (watch the spelling of Chukuma). To support and encourage you, the Author is willing to send you a complimentary copy. Keep up the good work. Ụ̀tọ́mị̀ nà áwẹ́lẹ́.

    The way our Igbo brothers are handling the language in Delta and Rivers states is very pitiful,if we are to continue like this,our language will automatically vanish in Delta and Rivers within few coming decades. This is largely because of disunity, languages hardly survive when it is limited to a small group of people in a country having millions of people. An Ika Man sees himself as being different from Ụkwụanị and Anaocha. Ụkwụanị man also have the same view of himself. This is very absurd because the three groups are actually speaking the same language in different dialects,as a result of this mentality if they want to communicate they will automatically use pidjin or English, the more pidjin is being used the more the language(dialect) is dying. Here in the southeast,we have many dialects, some of them are very hard to understand by others,but we all see ourselves as Igbos as having one language,if we now want to communicate we use the" standard" or" general Igbo",by doing so,we give our language the dignity it deserves and it continues to grow,if we are to say,"Anambra is different from Ebonyi",or things like that, we will end up destroying what we are trying to preserve. The standard Igbo should be introduced in your schools for good communication between the three groups,in order to preserve your dialects. Failure to do so your dialects might suffer extinction.

    • @nwaezimmadu
      @nwaezimmadu ปีที่แล้ว

      The ethnic groups in Delta State speak completely different languages and dialects. The Ika man does not understand Enuani. Enuani man does not understand Onokwumi, Ukwuani etc. What works for A may not work for B. In schools, Enuani, Ika, etc are taken in the JSSSCE. Some of us have it interest in developing theblo CV Al languages. I have taught mine for about two years but there was no encouragement from the government.

      @@nwaezimmadu my brother, I understand how you feel,i know it's not easy sharing a state with speakers of other languages, But we the Igbo people,we have the Godgiven ability to initiate plans that can help in a difficult situation. You people have to put it in practice in this situation. I am from Anambra,but I can understand Ika and Ụkwụanị dialects atleast 50%even while having not lived in Delta,if I can understand it to such a level, I think Enuani-Igbo people will understand it atleast 70% and vice versa. Now, you people should focus and stand on what unites you instead of what divides you and see yourselves as one people having one language. Let me take southeast for example! In my village we speak Ọmambala/Ezu dialect, if Ezaa-Igbo man is talking i will not understand,if deep Nsuka man is talking i might succeed in understanding 30%. But,we have what we call"standard"or"general Igbo",if I want to communicate with Nsuka or Ezaa-Igbo man, we will switch over to the general Igbo instead of pidjin or English. This general Igbo is what we teach in schools throughout southeast. What am I saying? What I'm saying is this; Inorder to preserve your dialects, the three Igbo groups in Delta should team up as one people and form "a general Igbo dialect" or better still start using the one we are using in the southeast inorder to accommodate the southeasterners, because our people says that"Igwe bụ ike". This standard Igbo will be the one taught in all the schools throughout Delta North senatorial district,so that everyone would be conversant with it, and should be the one being used for radio and television broadcasts. You people should not allow political propaganda to become your reality,we all are Igbos and we know that, saying that your brother is not from your ethnic group just because of dialectal difference does not make sense and will only lead to dialect extinction. As for the Olukumi people,their presence should not deter you from safeguarding the main language,they have to be assimilated. These Olukumi people are Yorubas who came to Igboland during the Nzu business and never returned likewise some Igbo people went to Yorubaland during that time and never returned, those Igbo people are now assimilated. Bro, despite everything I still see you people as my Igbo brothers, infact many communities in Ụkwụanị and Enuani traces their ancestry to my home town, and as a matter of fact your version of Igbo language looks like the one spoken in my village,we have to join hands and preserve our language by not isolating them to 2,3 or 4 LGAs. Udo dịrị gị nwanne.

    • @ndubuisiezeoye2099
      @ndubuisiezeoye2099 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@nwaezimmadu our Igbo brothers in River State are also battling with the same dialect extinction as a result of allowing political propaganda to become their reality, political propaganda has actually defined them. Ikwerres will not agree that they're the same thing with,Echie, Ọgba, Ndoki, I personally have analyzed their tongue and have found out that all of them are actually speaking the same language in different dialects. You now begin to wonder the kind of frame of mind they have put themselves into by choosing to communicate with pidjin instead of their language. I went to a burial ceremony yesterday in Nnewi Anambra State,the people there came from different states but the burial was conducted in Igbo language from the beginning to the end. I was even surprised to see that regular English songs were translated and sung in Igbo language by the church. That is as a result of telling ourselves the truth as to who we are, we have our different dialects here in the southeast but during official things we use the general Igbo language. All the Ika and Ụkwụanị people that I've seen in this Anambra State speaks the general Igbo that we speak, I'm still wondering what might make the 3 Igbo groups in Delta to think that they can't understand each other.
