This video was shot on the morning of May 4th 2024 in misty poor light. Just a zephyr of a breeze so the sounds of Curlew, Skylark, Oystercatcher etc can be clearly heard. It was lambing time so ewes can also be heard. The video was shot hand held.

Video taken 2024-04-23 If the viewer looks carefully, one can see the Lapwing vibrating one of its legs before catching its prey. The vibration of the Lapwings feet on the ground causes earthworms to move and the Lapwing responds immediately.

Pine Martens, once rare in my part of Northern Scotland were, until a few years ago, seldom seen. Now, in 2024, they are common. During 2023, within a few miles radius of my home I saw three road killed pine martens, something unimaginable 10 years ago.

This morning (2024-04-11), through my thermal imager, I spotted a hare loping along the lane in my direction and so pressed the video record. It was blowing a hoolie from the west and you can see the hare’s reaction when he first got my scent, then taking off like a rocket when it realised my proximity before stopping further up the lane.
