100% Agree! We have had the best experience with Home Exchange! It is truly the best way to travel. Often people come to my home as guests & leave as new friends.
Yes! We love it. Home Exchange has expanded our world (literally and figuratively) so much. Also - I just saw your channel. It looks AWESOME!! My husband is a huge motorcycle lover (a Norton is part of his collection, too). Looking forward to following your videos!
@kristensimoes I love this! Please join us at the International Norton Rally in June 2025 in Quincy CA! I can get you some details! We're long time Norton members!
@@yosemitemotorsportadventur8562 Yes! Please share details. Not sure if we can make it in June - depends on date. Also his Norton is in the San Diego auto museum right now. Will we be banned if we ride another bike?☺
Everything she says is 100% true. Home Exchange is a no brainer.
Thanks for watching and for your comment. I couldn't agree with you more ... it IS a no brainer! =) Happy Home Exchanging!
Thank you so much. Which platform do you recommend?
I personally like Home Exchange as they have been doing it the longest and have an enormous network of homeowners (I believe they're in 150 different countries). We have had some wonderful exchanges through that platform! With that said, I know there are a lot of other great options. Some of them have a focus (such as kid friendly exchanges, pet friendly exchanges, long term work remote, "green" homes, etc). Hope you give it a try. It has honestly been incredible for us ... such a life changing experience!
Your videos are consistently helpful, keep up the great content.
What was the name of the bakery cafe with the dark drink? Ruba's?
Yes! Rubas Bakery (rubas.mx/). Great place (that entire street had some amazing restaurants and it’s right in the heart of the art district). Have a great time if you’re going soon!
I live Dublin!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Me to!! 🥰 isn't it such a beautiful, fun country?!
Great video, many thanks!
So glad you like it! Thanks☺
I can’t wait , be there next week .. I also love Cabo San Lucas .. thanks for this video ❤️
Have a wonderful time! I’m envious. I bet it will be perfect!
I’m a Dubliner…and it’s a hole…no soul…a porridge…full of Liffey rats, and mangy cats, full of sad Irish homeless people, and happy immigrants stuffed into over priced hotels, nearly all the youth drugged with meth, go any where else, it’s a bog.
You’ve provided so much value in this one video, thank you.
Your videos always motivate me to keep learning.
Your content is always so reliable and well-made.
Thank you so much for the nice compliment. Glad you enjoy them!
Excellent video, packed with great insights.
I'm so glad it was helpful! Happy Vacation Planning!
They did not pay professional cleaning company, i would expect that
Thanks for your comment! I agree with you. I actually sent them an email follow up and suggested that they charge a cleaning fee for all exchanges and then use that fee to hire a cleaner before the guests arrive. I would happily pay a cleaning fee for any exchange and think it's a simple solution!
I need a cabo for families.
There are some really family, friendly resorts, there! That would be a great future video to produce. In the meantime, definitely check out some of the resorts along the corridor between Cabo, San Lucas and San Jose Del Cabo!
Great video. Ty! Which home exchange do you recommend ?
Thank you! We use Home Exchange which I believe is one of the original exchange platforms. They offer so many options - and are in 145 countries. With that said, I know there are many different platforms that are great and have different opportunities based on what's important to you (some are focused on work remote spaces, others are eco-friendly, or pet friendly). In this video I briefly discuss some of the different platforms if you're interested: th-cam.com/video/Ozovtr0U6HA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Cyse_wGySjdcRT6j. Happy exchanging!
I have gone here once a year for probably 20 years, I have never loved a place more than this place. It feels like a second home to me
Oh I bet you've seen a lot change in 20 years! I agree ... it is one of my favorite places to visit!
I want to go this country. Could you help me?
No
Good video! Been living on the Corridor during winter months from my base in Canada and I approve of this video! This Kristen girl looks to be a Tiger in the sack I bet.... so Im subscribing!
I love Cabo San Lucas Going to try Cabo San Jose in January, can’t wait
@@kimmie1957 oh January would be such a great time to go!! Definitely check out old town San Jose. It’s such a neat place! So different from the Cabo San Lucas we think of. Have a wonderful trip!
@@kristensimoes thank you so much , yes I will check the town out I know it’s more laid back than San Lucas. The resort is brand new . I plan on still hoping over to San Lucas & boat ride to the arch.☺️
@@kimmie1957 oh yes - a must do! 😊 I love the arch! Have a wonderful time!
Done 130 exchange my self. Around 90 as a host and 40 as a guest. Generating 5 star review without any flaws. Honestly it happen sometime the house is not maintain in the correct way upon check in. I usually will tell them nicely in private message before i check out ( not upon check in ) i will collect some photo before and after i clean the place. And will do and clean the house by my self. And often i have to fix something ( Change the shower head that i found is leaking and broken for my exchange in istanbul, buying a new cookware for them for my exchange in italy etc ) again usually i will report this after check out mentioning the issues and what could be done or what ive done to fix the problem. They would super thrill and happy. But i never drop any bad reviews to home owner ( i could put bad reviews to a guest ). I made a peace already and develop my own understanding and decided to not to put bad reviews on host unless if something major ( house completely a different property than the photo ) but cleanliness never a biggy for me.. especially i have a very strong standard for that so i wouldn't complain to others. It would be different if i booked an airbnb property and i pay for it. I would have a different expectations. By someone hosting me on Home exchange is already a privilege for me.. considering how difficult to find an exchange house. Im sure all of us use to experiance this.. sending multiple messages to property owner. So by approving my inquiries i feel so grateful and thankful to all this home owner already.❤ At the end we ( as guest ) that sent them inquiry, we are the one that pick the " host " property and we are the one that finalize the booking. No one force us to stay on their property 😊😊😊.
You make some great points! I do agree with you - I emailed this host offline but just didn’t want to post anything that may harm their ability to get future exchanges. I like your idea of taking photos before and after. Great tips!
While you definitely tried to be honest, I think that in the bottom line you prioritized kindness toward the owners. “Very lived in” is sooooooooo subtle, I would have NEVER taken it as you ment it. I would have thought about old furnitures, some wear and tear around the house, an untrimmed front lawn or an unkept garden.
I think you are right! I sent them an email offline with more detail but didn’t want to give them a bad review. However I think I could have probably worded it differently to get my point across better!
oh yikes - yes when you walk into a house that smells! yuck
you should've been clearer in your review!
I keep thinking about that and wondering how I could have worded it better.
How about a guest who breaks your toilet, sink and tub and then complains that they "had to" clean the outside of your dishwasher and were a real PIA
Yikes - that sounds HORRIBLE! So sorry you had to deal with that! I’ve been lucky - haven’t had any nightmare guests, but I’m working on a video right now about a recent exchange I went on that was really disgusting! (Stay tuned or subscribe and you’ll see it soon)
Thanks for this video!! This is my first year in HE so this is really helpful ❤
Oh I’m so glad! HE has been amazing for us! It has literally opened up a world of opportunities. I hope you find it as wonderful as we have!
Just got back from Mexico. Very expensive. And the new government is very scary.
@@RexPonder-y6bI do agree - in some places more than others! What area did you go to?
Love it there. But it's so so expensive. More than the United States.
I agree in many cases. I do think they realize it’s a desirable location so the prices are definitely more than other parts of Mexico!
Please stay off our beaches the gringos have just about destroyed them with their RVS and trucks.we are trying to save them for future generations.
Delta rebooked me from a red eye to a daytime flight 12 hours earlier, and rerouted me through Atlanta on the return flight, with a 43 minute layover.
Oh yikes! Sometimes you've got to wonder if it actually makes sense to the person on the other end who is doing the re-booking?! Hope it all ended well.
I like the idea of photographing your checked bag and its contents. I definitely agree about learning the basics of the culture and norms of where you are going and respecting them
Honestly, getting a photo while packing saved me when United lost our luggage last year. I was able to itemize the contents. It was just by chance that I snapped some pictures, but now I do it for every trip!
My French gramde-mèreis from Pont-Audemer in Normandie….love this God speed R Thomas Boisraméy
I’m glad you enjoyed the video. We sure loved that region and would love to return and spend more time!
As a native bay area native, this list hits all the best spots!
I'm so glad you think so! It's truly tough to narrow it down because there are so many great places to visit. I didn't even mention Santa Cruz ... Half Moon Bay ... and I know there are plenty of others! Thanks for taking the time to comment (and for backing me up on my "best of" list)!
@@kristensimoesoh yeah, Big Sur, Mendocino, so many wonderful places in NorCal! Sounds like you need to make a part 2 😊
@@iriswoohoo Oh yes ... both of those places. Amazing! Maybe I should do a California coast video and cover all the best coastal towns from north to the south? Sounds like I need to plan a "research" road trip! 😄 Thanks for the great ideas!
Thanks for this positive explanation. We are considering this for future travel / hosting. Do you have a link / code for reduced membership fee?
In my show notes there is a link. I’ll put it here as well. I believe it doesn’t provide a reduced fee but it allows you to set up your account, reach out to other members and finalize your first exchange before you pay the membership fee (essentially letting you try it out before you commit). I can’t recommend it highly enough! Some of my other videos will provide more explanation on some of the details. www.homeexchange.com/?Affiliates&KristenSimoes&ae=780
What do you do with all your personal belongings in your home?
Try getting through the road blocks, crazy paperwork, delays ect....with travel insurance Not worth it
That’s the truth! We filed a claim last year when United lost our luggage and it took a ton of emails, forms and time before we had a reply!
Loved the video - but music is too loud 👀
Thank you so much! I hadn’t noticed … But now that you mention it, you’re right… The music is a little loud. I wish I could change it at this point, but I’m not able to. However, I will be more aware in future videos. Thanks for the feedback!
@@kristensimoesthank you for accepting the feedback 😊
@@almavaleria1 Thank YOU for sharing it! My goal is to make videos that people want to watch, so I appreciate you telling me what does and doesn't work!
That was such a cool tour! My favorite part was when we got to see Henry IV’s castle garden! It was so big and had so many water fountains and statues!
Wasn’t it unreal?! The gardens were my favorite!
What a cool sight!
Beautiful in a desert sort-of way!
It’s sooo pretty! 🤩

Frog’s legs ❌ Escargot ✅ It’s similar (in taste and texture) to kidneys
Ooh I don’t like kidneys so I’ll know to avoid this. Thanks
Eeewwwe!!! Yuck😮
@@kristensimoes 🤣 Didn’t make a strong enough case for it, did I? It’s an acquired taste.
I’m 50 and in all my years I have said I would NEVER eat a snail/Frogs legs… just NOPE!! 🤢🚫🐌🐸🦵🏼🤢
Brave! I’d have to be paid to eat them 😵💫
It was the pressure (I was the only one who hadn’t tried them). The wine may have played a role, too?! 😊
Cool video, and great advice!
