The Perambulators

We love to explore, we travel to places in the south east of England. We want to get to the point where we can travel further away and spend more time looking around this great country and even further away.
We Visit The Beautiful House Of Anne Boleyn And End Up Watching A Jousting Tournament!
Come on our adventure around Hever Castle, it has a great history. Including, being the childhood home of Anne Boleyn and was later given to Anne of Cleves as part of a divorce settlement. Hever is located in Kent and isn't too far away from one of our previous videos at Chartwell.
The weather was wonderful when we visited. There were lots of crowds as we made a last minute decision to go and didn't plan our visit. This was a great decision as we were wonderfully surprised that there was a jousting tournament on that day.
Hever Castle (/ˈhiːvər/ HEE-vər) is located in the village of Hever, Kent, near Edenbridge, 30 miles (48 km) south-east of London, England. It began as a country house, built in the 13th century. From 1462 to 1539, it was the seat of the Boleyn (originally 'Bullen') family.
Anne Boleyn, the second queen consort of King Henry VIII of England, spent her early youth there after her father, Thomas Boleyn, inherited it in 1505. The castle passed to him upon the death of his father, Sir William Boleyn. It later came into the possession of King Henry VIII's fourth wife, Anne of Cleves.
The Grade I listed castle is now owned by the Guthrie family's Broadland Properties.

We have wanted to visit Borde Hill Gardens for a long time, we decided to do a quick visit to explore the gardens and this video is the result of our visit. It is such an impressive set of 'outdoor rooms' to view. We really enjoyed our time there. Borde Hill Garden is a garden located 1.5 miles (2.4 km) north of Haywards Heath, West Sussex in southern England. It is set in over 200 acres (80 ha...
We Visit The Wonderful House Of Sir Winston Churchill
มุมมอง 9Kหลายเดือนก่อน
For our week of annual leave, we decided to visit the home of Sir Winston Churchill. Considering our visit was in July, we would have hoped for some nice weather. Unfortunately, it’s England so it was raining. We visited Chartwell, it is located in Kent, UK. We have been meaning to visit for a long time, it has so much history and is such a picturesque house and gardens. It is one of those plac...

Our day out to try Filipino food in Truro started early, we had a lot to pack into only one day. As we were travelling from our stay in St Austell, near The Eden Project. We arrived in Truro for 10:00am so we had a wonder around. We then found our way to the Lemon Street Market and had a cream tea to share. After our cream tea, we decided to have another walk around the city centre. We then wen...

We looked for somewhere to visit over the half term . We stumbled upon Petworth House. Having not visited there before, we were surprised at how big the house and gardens are. We also found out that they filmed some of the scenes of Bridgerton there. They have filmed many movies there over the years too. i love his music! his voice and taylors would harmonise rlly well together, they should do a duet song
That would be awesome! Maybe they will in the future
It looks like a fairytale 😭😭
It really is lovely 🥰 Thanks for watching
Due for a revisit, methinks and I'll take a picnic again too..🤔 Another informative and interesting video again. Thanks guys...
It’s worth the visit!
The jousting looked really entertaining. Also I think I could eat about 10 of those sausage rolls!
They were delicious 😋
Keep it simple and make it special with a picnic...
We may have to start taking a picnic with us. Maybe a new segment, what did we bring on our picnic ❤️
Great video guys, I love this place and visited about 10 years ago, there was a lady dressed as Anne Boleyn in the entrance hall who welcomed the visitors, super place to visit, keep these videos coming.
Thank you so much. The Castle and Gardens are wonderful, we were lucky that it was so sunny too. It was a great day out!
I attended the Welkin prep school from 1958 - 1960. As I lived in Cuckfield, a few miles away, I had to take two buses (change at Haywards Heath bus station) to Lindfield, picking up other pupils on the way. The bus stopped at the foot of the village, near the pond, so the walk up the high street was a daily occurrence to enter the stone gates almost opposite All Saints Church. This lovely video of yours brought back so many memories of that wonderful school with the grounds that any boy would love! Mr Cook and his staff were generally decent and Mrs Cook was in charge of the kitchen who served really good food - the only school meals I've ever had that were eaten in total silence and respect! In my 70s now and last visited the area in about 2015 to see if it had changed - it hadn't. Thank you so much for this - lots of memories.
Thank you so much for watching. What a lovely story. We find these sorts of things really interesting! ❤️
For the uneducated on Cornish pasties you 'DONT' put carrot in them...its a hung- drawn- quartered offence in Cornwall...totally ruined the video as I cannot unsee what I saw...😤😤😡😡
Good job this wasn’t in Cornwall 😅
I love the pond. Must visit as I live quite near
You should! It’s beautiful ❤️
Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful video - we hope you enjoyed your day with us!
Thank you so much. We had a really great time visiting. ❤️
The BUTCHER of Germany....WAR CRIMINAL!
This was so enjoyable. Thanks. Jax., FL
thank you for watching 😄 glad you liked it. more coming in the near future
No commentary what a shame for a youtube video
That's ok if you don't like it. Our videos are for those who don't like an annoying person talking over the video
I just love seeing all of the historical photographs.
We were amazed at all the paintings he created. The historical photos were also great too. Thanks for watching ❤️
No commentary, I don't do that..
We think it’s better that way, we have voices for silent movies 😅
@@theperambulators No comment..😅
Jam goes on scone first so the cream won't soak into pastry. ❤my opinion. UK
That’s a good point. Although we have found that with clotted cream and jam, the jam is a lot runnier. Having the jam first makes it quite hard to spread the cream. Thank you for watching ❤️
Nice video and I know we have a limited selection of music to choose from on YT. Ignore the tacky comments by others. We enjoyed the video, nice photography.
Thank you very much for the support ❤️ yeah if only we could use copyrighted music then the video would have been better. Unfortunately we can't use copyrighted music.
I would buy the yellow & peach crewel embroidery pillow!!!!! Thank you for sharing this VERY enjoyable video.❤
Good choice! We always get a magnet. Thank you for watching our video we really appreciate it ❤️
That non-stop 'beat' in the so-called music is just horrible! I simply had to turn it off, but also missed any commentaries being given. PLEASE change the music to something more appropriate for this Great Man and his gifts to us Brits, and to the World!! Thank you!
We wanted to put World War II style music in but it was copyrighted. We had to change it out. We won’t be changing it though as people have been watching the video and it’s helped us a lot. Thank you for watching
Yes, we saw the Orange Cat, a direct descendant of the original in Oct/23. He was very friendly, but loved the outside too.
Wish we had seen him now 😍
Clementine Churchill was right, Chartwell is an incredibly ugly house of very little merit.
It is an odd house, the real beauty is the views of the surrounding countryside and gardens.
The surrounding landscape is stunning and I'm sure that's why he wanted that location less than an hour from Westminster at that time. I'm so glad the NT has preserved the house as its history is probably more important than most other NT properties.
Black Swans were given to Winston as a gift after WW2 by the Australian government, on behalf of the Australian people, for recognition of his service during the war, hence you see them at Chartwell. Black Swans are only native to Australia. I visited here in 2012, and couldn’t get over the fact that I was walking where Winston had walked, and talked to the great people of history. A very surreal experience.
Amazing! We didn’t find that out in our research. There were signs saying to not approach them, it would have been nice to get a video clip of them. Thanks for watching ❤️
I visited the summer home of FDR on Campobello Island in New Brunswick. I felt the same way about walking in a hero's footsteps. Sadly, that is where he was when his paralysis set in. We must never forget!
Great video . 👍 Thank you ! 😊 Love this Estate and all the history . Beautiful home and gardens .
Thank you so much. The house is magnificent. Glad you liked it ❤️
Cream then jam
Good choice ❤️
Apparently there is / may be a Ginger cat - that was part of the deal when he sold it, that Chartwell should always have a resident ginger cat! I'd have also loved to see inside his bedroom apparently he had a chair disguised with an inch thick metal back - that could have been used as a shield / if there was ever an emergency to avoid bullets! Very interesting vid thanks!
That is absolutely true yes! Unfortunately we didn’t see Jock VI. It was horrible weather, so he was probably hiding somewhere and sleeping. www.nationaltrust.org.uk/visit/kent/chartwell/jock-the-cat-at-chartwell Not sure why we couldn’t see into his bedroom. We think it is because you would have to walk through his study to get there. Thank you for watching ❤️
Jam first,
You’ll have to watch our Chartwell video to see what we think 😉
Jam on top is logical...
Love the walk! Kill the (terrible) music - wrecks the vibe. Had to turn it off.
We are never sure which is better. We had some WW2 style music originally but it was copyrighted 😅
Definitely cream first, can get a good spread going!
Check out the Chartwell video to see our preference
Not great scones. Much nicer in Norfolk!!
They are from Sir Winston Churchill’s House. They tasted pretty good. Although the ones we had in Cornwall were much better. 😅
Cornish boy here. It's supposed to be jam first, but I do cream first because it's easier to spread jam on cream. Also if I catch you using raisin scones for cream teas again, I'm gonna take your hands.
😂 they were the only scones they had at Churchill’s house. You’ll have to check out our vlog to see what our opinion is 😉
So much history
It’s fascinating looking around. Also the gardens are beautiful. Even on a rainy day
Thats normal for Benson. You should watch one of his concerts. He does wayyyyy more
Really! We will check it out ❤️
Did you miss the Pells? Oldest freshwater swimming pool in the country.
Oh yes, that’s definitely a place to visit too. Would have been a bit nippy for a dip when we went though 😅
It's a shame you didn't show the prices of the food so the viewers in here can know what to expect if they are to visit
We should have yes! We will endeavour to in our next food video. Thanks for watching ❤️

Ur video is the best one ive seen so far... So clear ..ur so lucky she is flawlessly stunning x
ewwww.
She was amazing 🤩
She only choked, the poor fly is dead. 😢 RIP Miss Mcfly
That’s mean, she was amazing! 🤩
This just proves to anyone who might think she is lip sincying, that it is totally live !! ❤
100% she definitely sings live. Just shows how great she is!
The proof that she sings live, is that she choked on a fly live on stage. I rest my case your honour! 👨🏼⚖️
How did they know to turn off the big screen at the back
OMG! We didn’t even notice
Oh no one noticed that 😮
She probably has a way to shut it off herself
How did she keep going?
No idea!
she is amazing ! i don’t know how she does it
She’s unbelievable, look out for our video of the day. We were lucky and went when Travis was there ❤️
