If the foundation consists of soft clay up to a depth of 10m and beneath that there is a rigid boundary check the foundation stability also.

Thanks Ma'am for explaining so comprehensively. Ma'am I have 1 doubt. That is, in the stress diagram in case of slab and beam s/w cases, when we draw the diagram, we are taking the positive sign triangle that is compression on the left side and the negative side triangle that is tension is on the right side, in case of resultant diagram, the positive stresses are on the right side of the centre line, can you please tell why this is happening?

In real design problem you always be informed with wind speed of the location and other specifications will always be provided... if not then as a designer you have to ask your client about their requirements...
