    The memories not being as open ended in TOTK really bugged me. With BOTW’s memories, you’re not really gaining any new crucial information. You know that you and your team failed to stop Ganon, so in the memories, you’re just seeing how exactly everything led up to you failing to save the day. With TOTK, the story in the memories is told in a much more linear way and does contain crucial information, so the story doesn’t work as well if you view the memories out of order, like I accidentally did during my first playthrough. I know I need to shoulder some of the blame because the game strongly encourages you to go to Rito Village and the first memory is on the way there. But given how open ended BOTW’s memories were, can you really blame a returning player for making that mistake I mentioned earlier?

    It surpasses BOTW in most every way. What you're disappointed about is that it released 6 years later on the same console, and so, the graphical fidelity being *roughly* the same lessened the overall impact on you.

      You din't just criticizing, you said you hope Nintendo Forgets about totk and just talks about botw. Totk doesnt require having played botw, and honestly, after this video, i don't want to, and i still got really invested in both the lore, and the gameplay itself. You also said about Several things you can't argue that it's beter than in botw, And Those Were THE MAIN SELLING POINT OF THE ENTIRE GAME. And you straight up lied by saying you can't upgrade the battery. Also, totk is Not linear, i did mineru first and had 0 problems.

    i agree with a lot of your points. my second playthrough i avoided unlocking towers, and only unlocked shrines on ground plane, and immensely a better experience. then later unlocked sky. i know that self imposed restriction doesn't work for many gamers, but made totk better than botw for me. i need to feel connected to the world

  • @saigashooter
    @saigashooter 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    With TOTK, I genuinely got sick of having to build shit to get from A to B, especially of you have to back track and rebuild the same damn thing. Its an interesting mechanic, but ultimately it wrecks the game. BOTWs rune abilities are far more sontrained and fit better with the world. BOTWs gameplay has no urgency, you can check every rock, blade of grass, pond, do every side quest, you know Zeldas going to be just fine in that castle, no rush to get there. This can also lead to a feeling of boredom, or a lack of direction, there is so much to do, who cares about the plot, which really is just "Destroy Ganon" I'd take Sheika towers over the sky launch towers, yes, you can map the games shrines from the sky, but you can't glide nearly as far, which helps some to keep the paragliders ability in-check. Both games could benefit from having more NPCs about. This was a kingdom, and yes, the calamity happened, but the sizes of villages seem to be for 10-12 families at best, and lots of those have no destruction around them. Who built up this massive world, the bridges, towers etc.. it sure wanst a group of 100 or so people.

    Tears of the Kingdom may feel like a reboot of Breath of the Wild in some ways, but I think that it improves on the points that would be the most important. It incorporates aspects that intrigue the Zelda veterans with aspects of fan-service, while also making those same exacts elements engaging to the new player. For example, the way that the TotK story ties into the overall timeline lore is something very interesting for longtime fans that would merely go over new players’ heads, but TotK presents its storyline in such a way that keeps even the newest fans gravitated. Those are what I perceive to be some of the strong suits of TotK, and it seemingly does very well in those areas. However, no game is perfect, and I think that TotK tends to be a bit too predictable at times for me. Granted, I have beaten BotW, along with at least 9 other Zelda games, but I sometimes feel as though I know the answer to a puzzle before the riddle is even finished being told in TotK. That’s certainly not to say that all puzzles are that way by any means, but I have found a lot of them to be that to me personally. Also, as was said in the video, the exploration does feel a bit too familiar having played BotW. Despite there being altered, mixed up, and new locations all over the map, the exploration can feel a bit repetitive. Actually, I don’t feel this way because of the new locations, but because they all fit a specific style. For example, a “new” location is usually a cave, chasm, sky island, or the altering of a place from BotW. After a while, the amount of exploration simultaneously begins to feel repetitive, overly abundant, or predictable by nature. Overall, I love TotK as a game, and believe that Nintendo did an excellent job with it. However, if there was one primary thing that I would change about it, is its predictably of certain elements such as puzzles and exploration.

    I liked TOTK while playing it, but looking back on it, I personally feel so much animosity towards it now. Especially because I feel like it could’ve been so good but they fucked up so many other things that breath the wild did good and even did some stuff that BTW did bad even worse. The exploration is way worse, you got too much ability to just bypass anything, you got 2 fans and a stearing stick and the for thought to build a hover machine and you’ve won, it just isn’t as satisfying. The ability to have a fast hover vehicle and bypassing everything just ruins it for me, there’s no good reason to use a ground vehicle and climbing is pointless The in my opinion being able to fly should only be available through hot air balloons and rockets, and the only way to stear it should be be building an actual stearing system (ie. a fan that could rotate) and a steering stick and auto build shouldn’t exist. This would make it much harder to just bypass everything by making it so you have to build your vehicles every time and more expensive to create a flying vehicle. The depths is almost entirely shit. The great sky island is the only good sky area. I don’t want to keep going but my other gripes are: shit story, shitty characters, shitty presentation of the story (I know it’s the same as btw but somehow comes off way worse), link and Zelda are idiots, sage abilities system is awful, etc

    If BOTW had a more linear story structure, more defined Divine Beasts, and the caves of TOTK; it’d be the perfect Zelda game for me. I love a lot of things both games did, but the best things from past Zelda games were absent in either one or the other, or both. Personally, I don’t like the Sheika slate too much, mainly because of the “artificial” feel I get from them. The bomb impact for example has no impact whereas a regular bomb or bomb flower feels like a BOMB.

This duo however I consider a masterpiece (BOTW) and just extended DLC, in my opinion (TOTK). It’s the first Zelda game to date I did not finish due to how bored I was of it. I think they should’ve focused more on the sky islands and underground instead of just having us explore mainland Hyrule all over again (even with all the slight changes). More isn’t always better, quality > quantity…

    Unfortunately, your argument about the magic being gone in Tears of the Kingdom because players have already explored it once is a composition fallacy, bud. This whole video seems like you're indirectly praising Breath of the Wild for not being as linear, and that's what makes it's better than Tears of the Kingdom, but you don't truly emphasize the flaws it had. When you remember that exploring Breath of the Wild's landscape rewarded you with nothing but a korok seed or a small bokoblin fight, it's hard to argue that it's "better". I personally am glad Tears of the Kingdom allowed me to fly past a whole lot of nothing. You also mentioned that you think Tears of the Kingdom's story is better, but because Breath of the Wild had basically no real plot you could enjoy it wherever. The problem with that is... we still have no real plot. I don't man, man. If you're comparing the two games then you seem to be dismissing the flaws that Breath of the Wild had and pretending that Tears of the Kingdom didn't improve more than it did things worse. I can't see how someone prioritizes sightseeing grass and rocks over an improved storyline, dungeons, bosses, and ultra-hand.

      I mean, what did you expect lol? This is a review of TotK, not BotW. I’m not trying to argue that both games are flawed but that one’s flaws ultimately left me dissatisfied and disappointed, and this review was an attempt to explain why. I have my fair share of problems with BotW as well don’t get me wrong, but if I started going on a massive tirade against that game then the whole video would sort of lose its cohesion. Don’t miss the forest for the trees, bud.
