Tansi my cousins, My name is Leonard Laboucan and have lived most of my life in Lower Mainland, except for 3 years in Ottawa. I am originally from Northern Alberta. where I grew up with my Grandparents and with my Metis Culture, jigging to my grandfather’s fiddle. When I hear our Music, I see the soul of our People and want to dance. I am truly passionate about our Metis Culture, issues and future! Currently, I am the Captain of the Hunt for MNBC Region 2. I have a 10-year-old son and teach him his ancestral gifts of living off land, hunting, fishing, trapping, dancing. I am 62 years old, a Metis Veteran with 31/2 years in the Canadian Armed Forces. For 20 years I have been a Canadian Firearms Safety Course Instructor for PAL. If elected I will strive to work with elected Board, staff, members and Governments. I believe that I have the skills, experience, and drive to assist the MNBC in its future Governance of our Metis people.

PLATFORM:  Fight for Our Metis Rights  Encourage Federal policies of Daniel Case, Section 35 for Metis members  Reconciliation for Metis people  Encourage more Metis Culture in communities.  More Training for Metis Locals with Governance, (Board)) Proposal writing etc.  Annual United Metis Festival  Youth Mentorship Programs  Assist Metis Elders with housing, health and other situations.  Help Metis Homelessness  Assist our Metis Veterans  Unity with MNC and other Metis Provinces.  Work as a team with MNBC Board, staff and members.  Respect, Accountable & Trust  Business Planning and Training  Fight for our Children’s future.

WORK EXPERIENCE: Leonard has over 35 years’ work experience in the indigenous communities, which has given him strong admin skills, operational and financial planning, R&D knowledge, and understanding of government Departments and their policy’s. Leonard has been the Executive Director of the Metis Provincial Council BC and United Native Nations, two of the four Indigenous political organizations in BC. I have a proven track record in policy management and implementation, Federal and Provincial Government negotiations. In addition, I have also been involved in the Tri-Partied Self-Government Agreements with both organizations which involved:  Health  Justice  Economic Development  Youth  Housing  Employment and Training  Governance  Membership
