I like Joe Dart, but I feel like he gets you so many extra points from his fans due to being white (as does the whole band). MonoNeon seems like a more innovative player for so many reasons... Thundercat, etc... These guys are big too, but they don't get people as riled up from what I see. this is just a general American music phenomenon: I don't get Taylor Swift either: she seems like a regular white chick that the industry decided to annoint and produce the hell out of to lift her up because she's another regular blonde hair, blue eyed, white girl. I might be wrong, but as a musician myself, America really favors white people playing black music since forever. It's kind of yucky. Black Jazz musicians were shocked to come to Europe and get treated so well back in the day. I am white myself and I played the same music (funk, reggae, etc), and would have been happy to get rich doing it, I am not exempt or above it at all. It's just an observation. Humans are weird, tribal creatures. Just to (try) not be biased, I also think Kanye West is trash, and the most overrated (especially by himself) person ever, he isn't even really a musician.
I see what you are saying I think you're partially right, I love thundercat idk mononeon well enough but Joe dart isn't a regular bassist to me he is very recognisable and I love the style and the band is simply tight as hell that's what I love about vulfpeck their compressed tone, their music, it's the tightness that does it for me as well as the visuals of their clips and all of what they do on the internet but I do think that some would call them average and not so exciting if they were a bunch of black people
@@PintoGuitar Agreed, they know how to sell / market themselves. They are good players, and are more accessible to their fans than some other funk bands for various reasons.

He is a very gifted player, but there is one sensitive point I need to find out on. Is Joe blind, or does he have a very bad line of sight? I have seen someone state that he was, but I never heard the question answered. Anyone here, tell me if he is. Like so many blind musicians, he seems to get around very well.
I don't know, but that could explain his neck movement (very common, Stevie Wonder does the same, as did Ray Charles before him). However, most people think that those musicians are totally blind, but most of them are *legally* blind, meaning they can still perceive shapes and go around the stage properly with little or no help, provided it's lit correctly. Stevie is also able to catch a microphone falling, for example. Given that he requested in-ears to be invented for him, I doubt is hearing, even blind, is good enough to pick that up through sound only on a live stage!
@@jas_bataille I do know if your pupils are dilated it gives you bad depth and perhaps this is the same with him. The light hurts his eyes and yes he can still see, like you said, he couldn't drive an automobile or have a License. In time im sure that question will come out with the glasses.

@@TKiBoule yeah well they did good tbh, the pressure was big because the room was full of vulf fans, I really enjoyed them especially JD Beck, the drummer, but yeah blown away by the fearless flyers I can't wait to see them again
