Located in the Bay Area, California, USA. I've been an inspector for a little over Five Years, and will continue to be a student of life and science.
I'm an inspector who holds a branch 2 and 3 license with the Structural Control Board. What this means is I am allowed to search for damaged wooden members of a structure by probing and perforating, I then use this data and document and submit reports for the ordering party of my inspections. I am NOT a home inspector, I am NOT a construction inspector. I am considered a Pest Inspector who preforms Wood Destroying Organism Inspections. So yes, I can do this to homes because I get permission before hand.
I am willing to travel outside of my traditional zone (Calistoga to Gilroy/Santa Cruz) to inspect and report. Travel charges and scope of work may differ based on requested location. To me, I love the science of observing the micro-biomes that cover the world and my large local area.

He's checking to see if it's soft then that wood needs to be replaced/repaired. I'd rather have paint damage than wood damage.

Pest Control, www.pestschool.com can get you the course study to pass the license test. Wage depends on what you are doing... You can call a local pest control company and ask them to sponsor you
