    These videos are always done when it is rally light, and usually on smaller vessel where the physical loadings are low. Gets much more 'interesting' when there's a bit more breeze.

    Bow guy needs to run that clew back and stay low instead of whatever he was doing on the lowside. Seemed to turn out ok. We call that douse a 'mexican'.

    • @MTSail
      @MTSail 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Depends in your region, Like me, we San Diegans call it "Mexican" because when you do the douse your facing Mexico. In the Southern Hemisphere Mexico has little relevance, hence the name Kiwi drop.

      I'm genuinely not sure what happened to the rest of the footage. The options are: 1) The camera gods took pity on us and the battery died so part 3 never existed 2) When I first went over it back in April it was so bad that I wiped it from existence 3) It was all boring upwind stuff/(lots of family yelling & drama) that I deleted to make room for other stuff

    lots of lessons to be learnt here, especially downwind. one thing i did notice is we never got the jib leech cord on. not good when it was held together with gaffa tape.

    • @kibedepark
      @kibedepark ปีที่แล้ว

      Was that perhaps why we didn't get the leech cord on? I can't remember it well, but I think we were more worried about the tear in the jib than the leech cord tension. 😅😅

      Thanks for the tip, we'll give it a try next time we're out! I only noticed a couple of weeks ago that the other tasars gybe the pole first so we'll definitely give that a go.

    • @kibedepark
      @kibedepark 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're the new Elliot 7 keelboats out of Royal Perth Yacht Club. Heavy if you're used to dinghies but our regular training boats are BW8s, so these move a lot more than we're used to! (We've got to be careful stepping on that we don't tip in while still rigging in the pen!)

      Yeah it was a bit rough, a few things we have to work on here. There was a bit of miscommunication with someone letting off the new sheet instead easing it, and then I was a bit slow getting up the pole up on the new side in the confusion. But hey, every sail is a good sail 😊
