Great tip! Thanks so much!
I had the exact same thought when i seen one for sale last winter, not much use for blowing snow here in nc, but we have plenty of diet to be moving around
Still collecting parts and piecing together the mechanical theory on how to make it all work. Thinking about a lawn tractor rear axle with a open diff and a couple of brake bands 🤷
Haha nice
I just bought a gehl 2600 off a guy for $200. He said the original 25hp Onan gas job was running like crap and he just wants it off his property. Its in good shape, needs a little TLC, but my idea was to throw this engine in there and just use its around the farm here and there. Problem is, you made it look way too easy lol. Looks like im going to attempt it now.
Holy crap that’s a good deal! Not sure I made it look easy, actually one of the most comfortable engine swaps I’ve done. Been running it all summer with no issues, good swap!
I just got these and they came with no instructions. thank you my friend for helping me out!
You never put the exhaust pipe out of the engine compartment and it sounds like it should be revved up hhigher when operating it
Original onan had the exhaust exit out, so just followed their lead 🤷 Running it at a higher rpm now, wanted to be nice to the engine until I got its first oil change…running wide open now 😁
There yeah go 400 h.p. added already.😂😂😂😂😂
I have the same one, and im thinking the same thing
Trying to get my head around how to “steer”, thinking a couple of independent belt drives on each track…maybe 🤷
@distortedsteelgarage i have another snowblower that has "power steering," but it really just disengages 1 side or the other. It has tires instead of tracks. Maybe that's the one to go with
See if you can get some of Dusty’s stickers?
He is already using most of his holding the fenders on his cars 😁
The predator has its own vacuum fuel pump already
Yea, after I took the air cleaner assembly off I was able to see it
another con is if the chain breaks you have no brakes
Oooo, damn good call out!
@@distortedsteelgarage Ask me how I know, I still use this set up though it's really easy and very efficient
Tat is the smartest thing I have ever seen on utube. Thank u
you put a volt reducer? I mean the toy use a 7.4 V I think and the batteries are 12 V
These are 3 cell lipo esc’s, so they run at 11.1v normally, 12v is a little high but has not caused any issues as of yet.
Seems like a pretty well grounded guy
lol!
Please? What is the distance between the two rollers for each steel tube and its diameter?❤
I wonder if that intake valve got swapped out at some point considering they have different clips
Good question! You made me go do some digging, turns out this is the way they came www.partstree.com/models/286707-0420-01-briggs-stratton-vertical-engine/crankcase-cover-sump-engine-gasket-set-cylinder-oil-valve-gasket-set-crankshaft-piston-rings-connecting-rod-4/
What size band is that?
4” band
You did a good thing here for this old tool gambler that rolled the dice on the same unit. Very helpful. Thank you.
Used it a half dozen times since I got it, very happy with it still!
Thanks for the video, I might have missed you mentioning this but why not have rubber isolators on the engine mounts?
Thought about it, figured since the original motor did not have them it might be over kill or there was a concern about them tearing lose, not sure. Vibrations are fairly low considering it is mounted solid.
I made a comment a week ago, and then the bottle jack failed. It has barely been used, but when pumping the handle, the piston would raise and lower in rhythm with the jacking action, so the relief valve was not seating. I took the jack apart to clean, and the oil was very contaminated. It has barely been used. After a cleaning and fresh oil, it is working again. Unscrewing the center tubing took a 3 foot long pipe wrench plus a 3 foot pipe extension, and a lot of force. I also had to re-anchor the bench vice.
Yours a newer one? I think I have had mine for 20 years or so, and have not had an issue at all…knocking on wood…
@distortedsteelgarage Yes, the bottle jack came with the pipe bender, courtesy Cheap China.
Cool dude, I took you're advice & getting better results. I'm under the impression that it's the sides that benefit from support as the roof of the jig does not even touch the tube after a bend.
One of the best tips I have seen for this contraption. I am also making a conversion tool to bend 14 gauge sheet metal for brackets, braces and custom fabrication, since I do not need or want a press.
Epic! I also did a lithium ion conversion with one of these, but I used a 24v battery. I’ve been thinking about upgrading and have been wondering the same thing: would a higher voltage battery damage the motor/controller? Would love an update to see how your build Is doing under a longer test!
One thing I never did check was how much voltage is getting to the motor…might have to go check that
@@distortedsteelgarage sounds like more content for a possible update video 😁
Any update on the go kart? How it's holding up?
That's what I call a lawn mower ! 😂👍🍺
I just removed my locked up CCKB 20hp Onan from my 444 bobcat. It locked up because the previous owner blocked an oil passage with gasket maker. (I just released a video today of it running again). I don't intend on putting it back. I'm going the 670 predator route also. Thank you for the key switch information! Doc Martin

I thought it was alternators that charge the battery?
Prior to alternators charging batteries, generators charged our auto/farm equipment batteries. Alternators generate A/C voltage and are converted to D/C. Generators create D/C current with out the need for converting, but are very inefficient.
Make that another subscriber he did a very good job but I got to ask him one question hey buddy what are you doing with that old motorcycle sitting on the wall

You should check the temp of the spot welder board, some boards get very hot.
Good test, going to run it again and capture so temps
Did you ever finish this? Did the transaxle survive the RPM and HP?
I think he said something about the RPMS being the same as a regular lawn mower engine.
Me and that project are not speaking right now 😁 the engine is rotating the correct direction, in the process of creating a reversing spur gear box to get the engine out shaft spinning the right way. This is a hydrostatic transaxle so as long as I keep the load under control, it should survive
Sir you just earned another subscriber. This shows proof of concept with a minimum about of fabrication. You got it all running and driving. Would like to see some long term follow up to see how well the pairing is holding up.
WOW! What a nice job. Thank you for the video.
I'm pretty sure that the heat shrink was for the pens. It was good to see that you didn't have a bad experience holding the bare ends of battery cables.
@jeeppunk1994, bet you’re right, gotta run the thing this week so I’ll add it to them!
Weird. I didnt hear any feedback. Great video and project. Would love to seeit in the summer to see what it can do.
Thanks! And as far as summer riding…You and me both, seems faster than it safely should be so cracking it open might get interesting 😁
I like the video. But the sound feed back is making hard to watch. Keep up the good work,
Thanks for the heads up, time to do some microphone shopping!
Thanks. I'll give that a try.
Is this for sale?
Not at the moment, but thanks for asking!
Hey what happened on the flat head Ford John Deere tractor build? I am looking forward to seeing you complete it. Love watching all your vids :)
First off, thanks! Second…me and that project have not been on speaking terms, I made a serious oops. The original motor drove the pump off the flywheel side of the motor. Not thinking, I mounted the v8 output shaft towards the pump…it’s rotating the wrong direction😢. I am making a set of idler gears to mount on the pump to reverse the rotation, stay tuned, it will be back on the channel eventually!
I will be watching :)@@distortedsteelgarage
Those old Wheel Horses are so good looking, in my opinion of course. Nice job on the re power, it just got a whole new life! Enjoyed the video, thanks for posting!
I usually put old nuts and bolts in them and shake. Works. Legit idea.
The plastic XY insert is the Atari Joystick's weak point. It breaks too easily. Come up with a more solid replacement and everyone will buy that part.
I dig this, fun to do so your playing all original though i favor the sega genesis controller, it is the best of control pad controllers, way better then nes and it has the pin or whatever count that fits colecovision, atari, commodore & all old school systems (:
