Hi. I have a spare bedroom N scale layout. It features Southern Pacific's Brooklyn Yard in SE Portland, Oregon, Oregon City, and some generic Oregon countryside and Cascade mountain scenery. I like to re create trains I have ridden, grew up with (Southern Railway in the 70s) and watched with my son in the 90s and early 2000s. It is set in the mid to late 1990s, but sometimes a 1940s Daylight with a GS-4 or an Alco PA/PB will be featured, or a 1980s freight or Coast Starlight. I I really like Rainbow -era Amtrak; the variety was incredible. I got to ride on some odd consists in the 70s!
I was lucky enough to have worked for Ensco, Inc in Springfield, VA in 1984/85 doing track surveys on Amtrak and other railroads. Riding the head end of 3 F40s screaming across Arizona at 90 mph plus was an experience I will never forget.
I have written articles for TRAINS and CLASSIC TRAINS magazines, starting in 2000.
Real trains have some separate playlists from 2020. Take a look!

Lehigh Valley Heritage unit rolling and NS slugs and road power in Irondale, AL today
Some quick guerilla railfanning at Norris yard In Irondale today, before flying home from Birmingham, AL in the pouring rain. I found the Lehigh Valley unit heading south behind 3 normal NS units. I chased it, and barely got ahead of it.
Then it was time to head to the airport, which is very close.
Last summer, I found it and the Erie unit at rest during one of my clandestine visits. A Ram pickup and a yellow safety vest gets you anywhere you want, within reason!
Enjoy

Saw a n/b freight in Hubbard today. Trying to get ahead of it, I found another train with a Canadian Pacific DPU going in the hole south of Aurora. No dice in getting the head ends meeting, but I did get the entire n/b going thru Aurora. Tried to catch up to the southbound, but he was moving and Saturday drivers were not. 40 in a 55 makes me want to scream lol. Oh, well, 40 degrees, no ice, a g...

The F7A will make it into the 70's, barely, but #4449 will live on indefinitely. 1941 subtracted from 2025, carry the one......oh, well, that's a lot of years. Enjoy.
Let's run the 4449! But it's stuck in Brooklyn Yard!
มุมมอง 154วันที่ผ่านมา
To get the Daylight out of Brooklyn Yard, I had to re power the tracks and switch some cars outta the way. I don't like to pick it up because the electrical connections thru the connector between the cab and tender are SOOO fragile. Better to keep it on the rails and back her out gently.

Big Sky Blue was a breath of fresh air in 1967 on the Northern Plains. The second A unit of this F7 trio was ailing, so a veteran FA1 from stepchild Spokane, Portland & Seattle (which has somehow escaped a repaint since the 50s!) was put on in Spokane for the rest of the trip East.

Amazing trains 👍
Thanks very much.
Well, that is impressive. It gives me an idea. I'm wondering how my Athearn Big Boy will do with 42 cars? Thanks for the idea. Keep up the good work,
Only one way to find out! My LifeLike E8s will pull about 30 passenger cars. They outpull the katos easily-they are so heavy.
@@ScottJohnson4449 okay. I tried my Big Boy and it maxed out at 24 cars, so then I turned to my Rapido UP E8's. I will upload the videos of those trials soon. Thanks for the inspiration.
@@munsonstrainswildlife9734 I figured that big Alco would pull more than that, but I think the tractive effort ratio between N and HO leans in N scale's favor. Looking forward to it!

Very nice video segments. I've been adding more SP and WP freight rolling stock to my S gauge.
Thanks a bunch. I will look for them!
Yay, 1st comment and like. Nice. I like that you filmed the whole train. One of the things I like about JawTooth. I'm going to try again next week. I use a lot of fuel in my weekly commutes so maybe I can try to catch trains on Saturdays after paydays.

That long train is cool, especially with the Northern pulling. You could make a challenge to other modelers out of this. Especially the one with 70 year old mid-train DPUs. 😂
It dug in pretty well, just too much looped around the mountain.

I love the long passenger train and that GS-4 pulls it so effortlessly.
I honestly thought it would slip with that many cars, but it just dug in. The kato cars are very smooth, lots less friction than some of my other non-Katos.

No. I will take a look, though. Thanks. Watching Tulsa PD on live PD lol.
@ScottJohnson4449 lol. Years ago, I used to watch 'Cops'. Then, at AAR, I was in a sheetmetal backshop where I was in on hush kit mids for US Marshall's aircraft. Because of that, we got USMS t-shirts that said, "Bad boys, bad boys, whatcha gonna do when Conair comes for you " and the other one says "Conair, you must be indicted to be invited".
@ScottJohnson4449 I forgot to mention that Hyce posts a lot of video game episodes, which I am not at all interested in. But, his actual railroad videos are good, including the K37 kitchen ones.
