Any part number on that bearing race puller?
I wish that you were my neighbor.
Zie laatste deel met name
A truely awesome vid! Great soundtrack too. Like sitting in the garage watching the big brother that I never had. Lol Learned a lot! I hope you can make a video every time you do work on your Evo!!! 👏 🤘 Thanks Man.
Thank you for your time Jay. The evo community thanks you.
I was under the impression that the Primary Covers removal oil replacement was 20 oz.
Needed to turn the music down.
I spun that front pulls before
A real deal video, great job thoroughly walking through the good, the bad and the ugly ...and great garage tunes!!!

Good vid, thanks 👍🏻
Take the proper size socket for the Transmission sprocket nut, cut it in half and weld a piece of pipe between the two halves would have saved you a lot of work.
Nothing easy on a old harly
🍺🖖🏼🏍👍🏼👍🏼✌️
Did you happen to have a follow up video?
Upside down ball sack horn cover. Lmao
On my harley i was driving down the road, pulled in on the clutch and it lost all tension, i thought the cable broke as it had been perfect, no noise, no problems and it only has 1500 miles, well the new cable came so i replaced the cable only to find that the lever at the bottom where the clutch lever attaches was locked to one side and not returning to the operating condition, i was able to get it unstuck but still there is no tension in the clutch cable, it is adjusted all the way out but still no luck, doesnt look like the lever is broken, any other advice or ideas bro?
What size are the two large bolts/nuts front and back?
Thanks , made alot clear to me. Sometimes the lighting, camera angles are off and I could have done without the music, kinda distracting :-) But not really important. What's the name of your special tool?
I price checked a pulley from Harley it was close to $350. I almost had a heart attack.
That was a good vid I Learned a lot and would go in my self after seeing that mate
my 88 Evo has a loud whining noise in 1st 2nd 3rd- 4th while under a load but quiet in 5th any ideas what to check maybe main shaft bearings?
This exact thing has happened to me. Out riding, everything fine, then griiiiiind and little to no bike movement. Clutch in, it's okay, neutral is okay... In gear? War in the trans.
Cool !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The same thing happened to my 1995 H-D DYNA Convertible Front Belt PULLEY - Fine SPLINES stripped out ... & ... I too had a 34 tooth Pulley to replace the defective 32 tooth item but since My FINAL DRIVE GEAR had a hair-line CRACK in it = which LEAKED oil - (that was a BOOGER to LOCATE) - I went ahead & pulled the Transmission Thanks for the VIDEO - it was very informative & educational :-) SUGGESTION = on the repetitive Bolt Removal processes = PAUSE the CAMERA & tell us how MANY Bolts you removed or do a quick FAST FORWARD etc Etc ETC ? COOP
Thanks for showing how to do all that extra work! If it happens on my EVO, I’ll check the drive sprocket first.
At 42:14... did you just pull the lock plate off and there were no bolts holding it on? If so, I would say that's what the problem was. No two bolts holding that plate in place means the pulley nut could have backed off, causing the pulley to wobble, causing the bearing to go bad or causing splines to wear..
A like for an great video , i have a FXR BOBBER 89 and my idea is put a 6 speed trans ... cheers ,
JW, Nice job. I appreciate the the hard work you did and your cameraman did a great job. Helped me out wrenching on my 2004 Glide
When pulling the inner primary, i didnt see the ground strap, so i started whackin' from the timing side one step too soon. Good video thanks!
hahaha. just went through the same shit!
Well now you have it tore apart,,... where is the video of putting it back together lol
Awesome video I was dreading doing this job till I watched your video you made it look so easy & no swearing lol 👍✌️
has all the jams in the background
Right?! I was all nostalgic
At least y'all had some good music to wrench to!
Sorry to complain, the radio in the background is distracting from the purpose of the video.
What is the size socket you use for the one with reverse threads?
Only HD uses 11/16ths/ 7/8ths/ 7/32nd/ or a 1 3/16ths sizes ! Although I have to say too, that 7/16ths will do most of it ;-)
Did you end up changing the final bearing due to the wobble on that assembly?
Great video !! I'm removing my inner primary to replace the shifter, got everything off but cannot get the clutch assembly off !!I have a 1998 roadking evo motor, got the nut out but cannot slide off any ideas ? Thanks Bob
C clip.
I'm also having to replace my shifter linkage arm or whatever it's called. I know the bug socket on the left is a inch and a half but what is the size of the one with reverse threads?
You need a puller, the shaft is tapered with a keyway
Thanks for video! But I wonder does that all means I do not need to remove the inner primary case and the front sprocket to remove the transmission gears set and change the shifter pawl spring?
The large socket is a 17/8
R u turning your nut the right way clutch is reverse. Also I stuffed a big piece of rubber in trans main drive gear to help it not turn. I hope this helps.
What size is the large alternator bolt?
Thanks! I'm doing the same job now and you saved me lots of wasted time waiting for tools and parts! Is there a part 2 of the video?
Thanks for the informative and well done video. I'm going to try this on my 91 FLHTC with the confidence of seeing it done.
Helpful as he'll rode today heard a whine no more drive think might be same problem thank you
Vary helpful
I have always been told to NEVER use an impact on a compensator nut?
i went to school to learn harleys you are never suppose to use an impact because it can and in sum cases will twist the drive shaft and the same goes for the transmission
Yes there is a bolt on the backside your ground is connected to it. You can get to it from under your bike.
great video - thanks - it helped me take my 92 FXR apart but as reference there is one bolt that has to be removed from the back side of the inter primary
