I have a similar door, chain has ton of slack, I just did it after watching your video, thank you for making this easy.
@@ahmedalyousef1286 I’m glad to hear that!
@@MrFixItTheRealtorhi, so when you say a little slack, how much slack? Did you just estimate it? I read that it was 1/2 in. When the door is opened. But how can you measure that? Pls reply. Thanks
@@ktp0913 Hi there, I didn't measure how much slack but enough so that it didn't actually feel super tight nor did I hear any noise from it that sounded like it was pulling hard on any of the gears. I think 1/2" would be sufficient for slack.
@@MovingtoBethesda thanks for the quick reply. 👍🏼
Clear as mud, better more step by step instructional videos available on TH-cam for the complete novice to follow.
Thank you so much 🙏🏻 you just save me $180
@@leeming7473 boom!
Love it especially that is a different color besides White
@@carolyncahill9301 the earth tone colors work nicely here!
2 things .. 1. your door isn't prepped to have an opener on is in the first place. thats why you don't have a top strut and you using angle iron. 2. you shouldn't have a rail lock on you panel if your using an opener.
I tightened the chain too much and destroyed my motor. 😢
@@BoomChing oh no!!
😂
great video bud. just a question whats the reason the chain is sagging. we are moving to a used property and that's one of the minor issues that needs to be repaired. any advice to prevent the sagging of the chain? or is it normal?
@@cacaiashi7427 thanks for checking it out! In the case of my door, it ended up being an indication of another issue with the actual door itself which somebody seemed to have hit and that caused the chain to sag. It was more of a temporary band aid for the problem. I would carefully inspect the door to see that there is no buckling or sagging and that the rails are fully secure. The other option is something just came out of adjustment at the opener.
Thanks man, the trick to pull the tension out of the chain just saved me.
Yo I just built one of these in Florida and it’s June hot af but I got paid $600 took me 11hrs split up in 3 days sometime I’m surprised at what one man can do! 💪🏾 we are amazing!!
Nice work!
My chain is just as loose as yours I’ll be on this tomorrow morning
Good luck! If you over tighten it can cause it to snap so just be careful.

Thank you so much for this video. I greatly appreciate it. I just bought the same playground for my 3 years old and I'm getting ready to put it together over the weekend by myself. A professional installer asked me for $850 for putting it together..no thanks! Lol
Glad it helps! It takes some time but it’s doable. Just make sure you have an even and level base to put it on.

Using a crescent wrench! Oh come on…. I thought the guy was a mechanic.
That was the first thing I saw, and thought the same thing. Get the proper size wrench!
But housing prices have doubled and you can't afford to buy anything. Bidenomics! Yay!
I can't find what I'm looking for... I adjusted the thing that actually attaches to the garage door there's two bolts shown at 1:11. I made it longer and now when I open the garage door it's too long
Thanks!!
Thanks so much for this easy chain adjustment....need video on replacing 4 piece tube on Stanley model 3220 garage opener and ...the black adjustment knobs on bottom of unit functionality...any assistance would be greatly appreciated
Thanks for the help. Works great now that the chain is tightened.
Does it have an application for IPHONE IOS?
Yes, you can download in the App Store.
cheese
There are dozens of videos on TH-cam that tell you to adjust a sagging garage door chain like this, but not one tells you to check for trouble with the idler pulley which can also be the culprit and is a very easy fix.
Jesus Christ. Opening statement audio level at 40%. Intro music afterward audio level at 200%. I think I just blew my speakers and woke up my neighbors.
You just saved me $100!!!!! Thanks so much!!!
Fantastic!
Many vids said to use concrete and not mortar mix.
Thanks Edison but I'm sticking with AC
Please, be sure to visit the neighbor after dark and on a Saturday night to see if it changes after people get home from work or start partying. Just saying from my personal experiences. Things happen after dark even in the nicest places.
Yes, some neighborhoods are more active than others depending upon mixed use and commercial space.
I always will go through the neighborhood in the evening and at night also. There's a lot you will see when people who are normally gone to work during the day are more likely to be home
That’s a great idea!
Just what I needed. Thank you.
Glad it helped!
Looks like the front cover pops out very easily without releasing the clips or tabs on the top. Don't know why mine is stuck.
You may get a little resistance from the clips but it should open with a slight bit of force. If it hasn't been opened in a long time, this could be why.
Thanks good job
Nice but it’s was to fast for me lol. I was able to use your video so it was a help.
Door has to be closed position to adjust tension?
It’s easier with the door closed as it will otherwise get in your way. Be careful not to make too tight or you could snap the sprocket on top of the opener motor.
@@MrFixItTheRealtor thank you!! This video is very helpful!
@@davidortiz4935 my pleasure!
I have no bolt. It’s some plastic piece with a couple of tiny screws. I can’t find any video with this piece.
The tension on both sides needs to be equal. Otherwise the cord is under immense tension and when it gets cold it's going to snap resulting in an expensive repair. The easiest way to know if the tension is equal is to have same amount of slack on both sides.
I can not believe that you did not clean the evaporator coil.
Holy smokes.peroid
um, i think you forgot to show us how to clean the coils or fins or whatever they're called.
So the coils actually didn’t need to be cleaned in this instance as all the dirt was really on the blower wheel. You can buy cool cleaner at the hardware store as well as a brush for use on the coils if needed but you need to be very careful as you can end up bending or mashing the coils.
@mrfixit Two years later how is it? How is the wood holding up? I’m looking to purchase but I’d love to hear your thoughts two years later.
Full disclosure, I moved from the house where it was, but the only notable thing was the fading of the wood. Some of the thinner boards make a little bit of creaking and felt a little weaker but in all it held up well while we used it. Staving and sealing may help to preserve but I just didn’t have time to do all that.
Please next time try to level the volume of your recording to the volume of your intro video. Wearing headphones and the sudden high volume of the intro gave me a heart attack.
Sorry about that. I’ve tried to lower that in the past and I missed it here. Will see if I can still lower it.

I live in a RENTAL apartment that has a Mitsubishi A/C wall unit, so I'm not allowed to take my unit apart. Is there an easier, less intrusive way for me to clean the unit and especially get rid of that MOLDY smell when I turn the unit on? (I tried to tell the landlord about it but it's anybody's guess when he might do something about it or send a professional out to look at it...) I know that I can open up the large cover on the front and remove the white plastic, curved 'filter' that is right under the cover..and that I can wash it...but my experience is that it doesn't help very much...esp with the moldy smell. I seem to recall reading somewhere, however, that there is a way to RUN the A/C system...maybe for a few hours or so...on a particular setting...and that THAT alone can sometimes help to almost 'clear' the unit of mold?
Hi Lisa, unforunately, I'm not aware of any other method to clean it outside of removing the blower wheel in it's entirety. It may be possible to not take it off and take a brush to remove some of the build up on the wheel but you won't be able to get everything off. Subsequently, it will blow some residual dirt for a short time when it is run again if you do this.
Hi. I have a fujitsu mini split that gets to smelling if I don't keep it clean. We live in an area without local AC cleaners/repairmen and I haven't been brave enough to take it all apart (yet!). Here's how I clean it while leaving it [mostly] in one piece: First I turn off the breaker (power/electricity to it) and remove the big plastic cover (check for a couple screws on the sides/front and plastic clips at the top back near the wall). I leave the electrical bits covered because I don't want to get them wet. Then I unclip the louvers for the air-direction & put them aside to clean later. I use coil-cleaner (purchased from Amazon & diluted in a spray bottle to the correct strength) and spray all the little metal fins and things. I layer several folded towels underneath to catch the drips as the cleaner runs through. I let it sit for a few minutes, then I spray a little more and let it sit a little longer while I clean the cover & louvers I've removed. Next I get a toothbrush and a flashlight and do the best I can to clean the blower wheel by reaching up from the bottom/underneath the unit. It will be a wet mess from the cleaner spray, so be careful. It is difficult & takes a long time, but I scrub the blower wheel fairly thoroughly. I also take a soft cloth and wipe down whatever plastic parts I can reach from underneath. Then I use clean water in a spray bottle to do a little rinsing. I spray it on the coils, like I did the cleaner, and let it drip through. At this point, I usually have to change the towels underneath. The water drips running out of the AC should be looking a little cleaner by now. I also spray the blower wheel and wipe it down to remove whatever residue I can. I let it dry before putting the cover back on. The cleaning fluid has a pretty strong chemical smell which can be unpleasant, so best to do it on a day you can have your windows open, if possible. It takes a couple hours, all together, but it goes a long way to helping with the smell. I usually do this once at the beginning of summer, to remove the dirt from the winter's heating use, and at least once more during our long summer. BUT!!! I don't know whether I'm slowly killing my AC by doing this. I've been doing this for a couple years; I haven't had any problems, but I may discover that I've been slowly destroying some particular element--I don't know. I don't *think* there's anything wrong with this procedure, but I know nothing about HVAC stuff.
SUPERB. THANKS...............WORKES LIKE A CHARM
I’m glad to hear it!
Is the Daikin the same process or is it more involved?
I haven’t done this on the Daikin so I can’t say. I suspect it’s a little different based on the blower wheel. These all have somewhat different proprietary parts.
if you hit the panic button without the $14 a month plan, does it still alert the security company?
Unfortunately, I don’t know the answer to this question. I would imagine if you don’t have a plan that it won’t notify but that’s just a guess.
I realize this was a temporary fix (you said as much in the vid), but, when it comes time to do a full replacement, would you add a 2" overhang or leave it as shown in the vid? If the latter, why?
I would rebuild it the same way you see it here. This is typically done with Portland cement or something like that and there wouldn’t be a good way to put a lip on there. Plus, as it is, the water rolls off so an overhang isn’t necessary.
Nice hack job.
Very nice
Mucho gracias for the excellent video. I am done and blowing 68F air. (better checking later got down to 59F at the vent mouth). For other readers: I have the Sanyo 240V Mini split 2015 or so model. To release the blower fan from the shaft, you must remove the right side motor cover (4 screws) to access the set bolt outside of the fan and cage area. (ie. outside the airflow to the right side). Not admitting that I lost it, but take the (driveshaft) set-bolt completely out once you get it down and stick a peice of tape or magnet on it. It is small and if you lose it, you're screwed until you find it or stop and go buy another.
Thanks for the information on how to do this with a Sanyo!
thank you so much! this was really helpful!! :)
Glad it was helpful!
Probably good for 1-4 year olds….get a rainbow swing set that will last 20+ years so kids can keep playing with it as they age…also invest in an impact drill to prevent wrist torque
In UK we have many types of base fittings which is once major pain in the a. The usual two pronged bayonet type never stuck unless it's been in for many years. The dratted edison screw bulbs always seem to shatter when they blow. I've used this method with nose pliars many times.
Yeah it’s always a pain whenever a bulb breaks and especially with the ones with pins.
