Also, I visited your farm with a friend in the 80s when it had a different name. Looks like you're succeeding!
How the heck do you get daikon without root maggots and so on? Same with carrots...
Floating row cover ("remay") is essential. We bury the edges and tape up any holes. That keeps most of the cabbage maggot and carrot rust fly out. Also, late summer plantings (like this daikon) seem to get less damage.

great to learn about how to protect daikon from the frost... I'm thinking of making a chicken and daikon stew again with soy, mirin and sake and broth which is great for the winter months.
