      Oh nice! I wouldn't say so, there's maybe a little rotor noise but given the fairly cheap and very old movement, which likely hasn't been services in quite some time, that's probably understandable. Given how poorly it keeps time I probably just need to swap in a new one anyhow.

    I still have mine from the 90's but with a black face and original strap in black leather with a smooth, slight sheen finish. I am not a keen watch wearer so it's fairly mint. At the right time I will start wearing it again.

    Wears very light - have not heard the rotor noise yet and I like the way you say it grows on you because mine grows on me every second. The lume needs a heavy dose of sunlight when you first get it - gave it a uv charge but it really didnt respond as I thought it would be good sunlight was the trick. Excellent watch and would have preferred a different movement maybe like a Sw200-1 but definitely its not a bad movement and as you say not a deal breaker. Its a well made watch and a company that has a real future. Nice work here. update - I have heard the rotar wind and in quiet settings its very obvious and at first unsettling but it happens with wrist movement of course and quiets down quickly- one gets used to it and even the that sound seems to grow on me yet would have loved a Sellita movement

    Thanks for the review, very informative and helpful. I am on the fence about getting one, like the design, but the noisy Miota movement might be a deal breaker.

    • @FleetingSands
      @FleetingSands 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I might've overstated the rotor noise a little... I can definitely notice it but it isn't particularly annoying. I think to some extent it caught me a bit off guard as the early models of the Freediver used Seiko NH movements and for some reason I initially thought this one did too, and this Miyota is definitely a lot louder than those. It's also possible my unit is louder than most as another commenter with the no-date model said they were yet to hear it, so your mileage may vary. I suggest not writing it off completely, it really is a very nice watch otherwise. Go Vikes!

    • @michaelmcmanus4876
      @michaelmcmanus4876 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I received mine a few weeks ago and trust me you can't hear a thing. The only time you can hear the rotor is if you hold the watch up to your ear and you will hear a very slight rotor noise other than that I wear it and never hear it. I love mine, waited almost a year but well worth the wait.

    Nice Review! I went with the Woodland Green Commuter and I love it! I usually wear divers and I am really enjoying this sport watch size, thinness and how light on the wrist it is. 126g for 7.65" wrist crazy light.

    • @FleetingSands
      @FleetingSands 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! The Commuter is a very clean design, what do you think of the green? I guess being sunburst it can change quite a bit in the light but do the marketing materials portray it fairly accurately? The mint ended up being more subtle than I expected.

      @@jimmski9908 up to now I wore turtles, Samurai's and other divers on my 7.65 wrist. But after receiving my commuter I realized that this is my goldilocks size and style watch. So thin, light and comfortable on wrist. No regrets here as it is getting all my wrist time. So my take away is that I really prefer a sport watch over a diver. Yes I loose the timing bezel but gain amazing comfort and thinness.

      There was a short reservation window back in October last year where for a $50 deposit you could guarantee you would be able to purchase one in January this year. I think they still might be in the process of sending out the reservation orders. After that my understanding is there will be a number made available to purchase normally. As I mentioned at the end of the review I believe that will happen before the end of February, so any day now. I just check their Instagram and they’ve said to expect a precise update on when the entirety of their new collection will be available in a day or two.

    Looking forward to the full review! Very curious on your thoughts about the date window. To me, the circle doesn’t seem to match the rest of the shapes on the watch. Is that noise noticeable while on wrist or do you have to be close to it to hear that? Thanks!

    • @FleetingSands
      @FleetingSands 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Chuck! I know what you mean about the date window, I'm still not entirely sure what I think about it but I do wonder why they didn't opt for a trapezoidal one. This is probably why the no-date version seems to be more popular, I went with the date version though because I find myself not really wearing watches without it. I think the rotor noise caught me a little off guard as the early models of the Freediver used Seiko NH movements and for some reason I thought this one did too, and the Miyota is definitely a lot louder than those. It is noticeable on wrist but only in a fairly quiet setting, I don't think it would really bother most people, though I do still somewhat wish there was a Seiko under the hood.
