The bit about how to record some vba to refresh the query was so helpful. I have been struggling for a week with a long vba macro which had a refresh all in it. It worked sometimes but not others but I had recorded the refresh bit by clicking on refresh all on the top menu bar not the little refresh symbol in the query window you used. So relieved.
