Why don’t you drive through Vermont when it’s-25 below zero and see how that electric vehicle performs…
How fast does it charge at Tesla Supercharger?
It depends. There are many factors for instance, are you at a V3 Tesla Supercharger (newer ones) which has the capability to charge at 250KW rather than the older superchargers which charges at 150KW. Also, it depends on how many people are at the supercharger as well. If you are plugged in next to someone charging their Tesla, the electric output is divided & shared between the 2 cars at one charging post. The Hummer EV has the capability of charging at 350kW, meaning it can accept 350kw at the charger. But even if the charger says 350Kw, the charger itself may not output the full/total 350kw as we've seen at EA or EVGo stations. Another variable is the ambient temperature outside if it's cold or hot outside. This could affect the output/input rate at which the speed of your car charges. Also, preconditioning (warming up the battery) before arrival can decrease charging time if conditions are ideal at any charger. We will let you know how long it will take to charge the Hummer EV with the new GM-approved NACS-adapter....stay tuned!
@@explorengear thank you for the a detailed no answer lmao I’m kidding
You can’t charge at any Tesla 150kw or lower Supercharger. Only at MANY but not all V3 and up SC locations….
Thank you @highrafterranch1982 for that correction! You are right, only the V3 or above Superchargers will work with the NACS-adapter since it has the updated software and hardware to support the NACS-adapter. The older Tesla superchargers lacks the software and will not function or be compatible with the adapter.
Bro, has obviously never driven in a Tesla with FSD. Nothing about what you did in this video comes anywhere close to the sophistication of what Tesla FSD can do. You can still be cool without being better than Tesla.
When we filmed this video, the version of FSD was a few updates past. FSD has improved quite a bit, and Tesla constantly makes enhancements to their software in the OTA updates. We love using FSD when we travel and we are amazed at Tesla's technology. What was said in the video was just our 1st impression of Super Cruise, that we didn't have to touch the stalk to initiate a lane change like we do in a Tesla which blew us away. Both Super Cruise & FSD are phenomenal tech that we can say the future is here. We can't wait to see driver-less autonomous driving...hmm, Tesla Robotaxi rolling down my way!
The prices are horrendous!!
What if the Tesla station doesn’t have a magic dock can it still be charged?
As of today 9/15/2024, everyone is anxiously awaiting the release of the GMC adapter (NACS) (Level 3/ DC-fast charging) to the Tesla Supercharger Network. Basically, the NACS-adapter approved for GM vehicles like the Chevy, GMC, Cadillac, etc. which will enable non-Teslas to charge at any Tesla Supercharger charging station (Level 3 charging 20kw -350Kw or greater/DC fast charging). Right now, some Tesla Supercharger stations are equipped with a Magic Dock - essentially an adapter (by Tesla) that allows non-Tesla vehicles with a CCS charge port to charge at Tesla Charging Stations. You can find Tesla (Magic Dock equipped) Charging locations through the Tesla app or an app like PlugShare...some cars have a charging locator app on-board that could pull up all the nearby charging locations when you input a destination in your navigation. What we showed in our video is charging at a Tesla (MagicDock equipped) location. Hope this helps!
Hooray, GM! On September 19, 2024, GM announced that all GM vehicle owners are now able to charge at any Tesla Super Charger via the release of the GM NACS-adapter. The NACS-adapter can be purchased via the GM app for $225. For the official press release: news.gm.com/newsroom.detail.html/Pages/news/us/en/2024/sep/0918-nacs.html
Does this mean the Tesla home charger with the adapter will charge the hummer?
If you have a Tesla home charger (Level 2/slow charging) installed at home, you will need a "Lectron Tesla to J1772 EV adapter |250V | 48amp" (ev-lectron.com/products/lectron-tesla-to-j1772-adapter-max-48a-250v-for-tesla-high-powered-connectors-destination-chargers-and-mobile-connectors-black) (a middle man) to branch Tesla charge cord to Hummer charge port. Remember to consult your electrician. We had a licensed electrician install a NEMA 14-50 outlet for us. Then, we use the Hummer EV charge cable (includes 2 plugs, 110 V-plug & 240 V-plug) that came with the vehicle to slow charge (Level 2) at home. Or sometimes we use the Tesla Mobile Connector Kit (2 plugs, 110V-plug & 240V plug) (shop.tesla.com/product/mobile-connector) (Level 2 charging), attached to the Lectron adapter (ev-lectron.com/products/lectron-tesla-to-j1772-adapter-max-48a-250v-for-tesla-high-powered-connectors-destination-chargers-and-mobile-connectors-black) to charge the Hummer EV at home. If you have the Tesla Universal Wall Connector (shop.tesla.com/product/universal-wall-connector) installed at home, you can easily charge a Hummer just with that unit without the Lectron adapter. It comes with the J1772 adapter in the unit. Please check the Tesla website (shop.tesla.com/category/charging), since accessories are always changing & evolving over time.
Supercharger is DC power while a home charger is AC powered. You would need a NACS to j1772 adapter where this adapter is for NACS to CCS.

It has worked for about 1 year. We have the tesla home charging unit for our Model X. We have used the adapter above to charge a Hummer EV 2023..and works great. 24-29 miles per hour. 👍 Reversely… We use our GMC (Hummer EV) charger at our the farm and Tesla adapter to charge our Cyber truck now. Works great also. Always nice when a plan comes together! 👍🇺🇸 GMC has Tesla network now… we may be switching back to the Hummer x3. Super truck.. awesome convertible!
121 on a hummer is gonna take awhile. Got get some dinner
I’d prefer a hummer ev or anything with the port located in the same spot as a Tesla to use Tesla stations due to most people having to take 2 stalls just to charge
Were you using the Tesla app to charge with a non-Tesla account assigned to your hummer?
You need the Tesla app & a Tesla account that links to a credit card because all Tesla Superchargers are all "plug & play" meaning no fuss no muss. Tesla makes everything fluid and counter-intuitive. In our opinion, Tesla Chargers are the easiest to use. Once you plug in, the car does the rest after you pick the charging post (parking spot) your at. Hope this helps.
just picked up a hummer ev, what apps are needed for charging stations?
A good supplemental app we use is PlugShare. The Hummer EV has built-in navigation with an integrated charging network with route mapping which shows you the nearest compatible charging station and your battery percentage at each location upon arrival. Hope this helps. Congrats!
Is it available in California too?
In the beginning around Feb. 2023, there were only 10 -Tesla "Magic Dock" equipped Supercharger locations but, Tesla have expanded & installed a few more across the United States. I believe there are 4 locations in California equipped with Magic Dock as of today. You can use the Tesla app to see & filter through which location has the Magic Dock, if you have an account or you can download the Tesla app at a Supercharger with their QR code when you're there with a Non-Tesla EV. Eventually, all car manufacturers will be switching to the new standard, the NACS-adapter. We asked a GM rep. and they told us that the 2025 Hummer EVs will have the NACS-adapter built in during production which will eliminate the need to buy an additional adapter to charge at any Tesla Supercharger without Magic Docks. Hope this helps. Here is a link to the Tesla website with helpful information regarding Tesla charging & the Magic Dock. www.tesla.com/support/supercharging-other-evs

Will it auto park into a garage?
Good question: Never tried it, but due to its size (how wide & high it is), it doesn't fit in most one-bay household (standard-sized) garages, even with the side mirrors folded in! You can find the exact dimensions of the HUMMER EV at the GMC website: www.gmc.com/electric/hummer-ev/suv You can watch Mr. Alderman demonstrate Park-Assist in more depth in this video: th-cam.com/video/9xOvHwyww0A/w-d-xo.htmlfeature=shared The Hummer EV can also Auto-Exit out of a parking spot, look forward to that video, coming soon....
Nice video alex
Glad you enjoyed it
While this video is entertaining , it doesn't supply any real information . It doesn't tell you the initial state of change or how long did it take to charge and most importantly how much did it cost . So basically zero assistance , thumbs down I guess .
It is their video and happiness. Plus, You know you can find videos with more tech data. You can pursue your happiness without affecting the happiness of others negatively. Cheers.
Thanks for the support! :)
As a tech designer. I have seen plenty of adapters to allow a charge. The cell phone ports are a good example. Why don't someone build an adapter with a chord extension of maybe 3 feet to go from the Bolt to the charger????
Tesla adapter comes standard with on station
It was a question
Yes. The Magic Dock is basically a CCS adapter for Non-Tesla EVs & standard Tesla adapter all in one unit.
It looks like you didn't need the special Tesla to J1772 adapter?
Do you have to register on Tesla app ?
Yes, you have to download and sign up for an account with the Tesla App or You can scan the QR code at the charging station and pay per use.
nice ,,, why bother thou seeing your car can only take such a low charging rate
Because sometimes the tesla units are the only ones around. That’s why.
@@Digikidthevoiceofreason kid said what
Looks like you could have parked to the right of the far right supercharger, in the stripped non-parking place, and you wouldn't have blocked 2 charging stations. Of course, not important today because of low usage. Just something to think about. As a Tesla Model Y owner, I hope the CCS guys use some creative parking techniques.
Nice , i have same color bolt
What’s the color called, dirt?
How much did you pay per kWh?
At the Ballston Spa Tesla Supercharger location, it was $0.49/kwh to charge a car equipped with a CCS plug. I think the price varies depending on location. You might want to check out the Plugshare App to see.
@@explorengear Thanks.
Was the charging free?
😂
@@rickslife 🤑
DC Fast charging is usually paid (this was no exception, 49¢/kWh) but Volta and a few others do offer free DC fast charging in select locations.
No. You pay through the Tesla app and the rates vary, it all depends on the time and location. I believe it was ($0.48/kwh) when we charged.
I realize you have to take up two spaces because of where your charge port is located. I was wondering if you parked as far to the left as you could, even over the line since you're effectively using that space anyway, perhaps a Tesla (or another car) could squeeze into the space on your right?
At the Ballston Spa location, there was actually room on the right to park & charge. It would have been difficult to charge if it was busier though, since we would've taken up a parking spot or charger due to the location of the charge port. Why didn't the EV car industry standardized the charge port location??? In time, we will see what happens...I'm confident that Tesla will have a fix. Especially since Tesla is lightyears ahead in thinking & technology! Although, I don't see myself charging that often at Tesla's Superchargers since we have a non-Tesla EV, but it does open up a TON of options for long-distance traveling & charging!
@@explorengear the EV industry should have followed the lead of Tesla, licensed their port design, and put the charge port in the same place if there was a possibility of using our network. They obviously didn’t plan any kind of network of their own, so I’m not sure how they thought people could charge efficiently. 20 miles of range per hour at non-Tesla “fast” chargers is a joke, and makes EV adoption impossible. Our cars can charge up to 1,045 miles of range per hour of charge (arriving with 10% on the battery using the route planner and preconditioning to heat up the battery). It’s not just a matter of taking up the two spots, it will seriously affect our in-car navigation system that is in constant communication between the car and the chargers. Our cars will automatically reroute if there is no availability at a charging station. If the system doesn’t know that the non-Teslas are taking up two spots, it will potentially cause our route planner to provide inaccurate estimates of the number of available spaces. I want the world to change to EVs, every company but Tesla is going about it in a way with little forethought. And we don’t want to wait behind cars that can’t take full advantage of DC fast charging, especially when they are affecting our route planner’s accuracy and making us wait. We believed in Tesla, in EVs, in supercharging, and we paid a premium price to be a part of it.
@@KatAdair Tesla didn't invent the electric car. They've advanced the industry it a great deal but Tesla in fact is the one using the non-standard plug. That's why they are the ones retrofitting their stations.
@@benjibumbleTesla came out with their plug before SAE came out. How is that Tesla’s fault?
@@benjibumble Tesla is retro fitting their stations because they got a bunch of money from the government
And you took up two charging spaces because of the location of your charge port. Not cool!
@Freedom 2020 worth every penny I paid for it. And now you, too, can buy one for a lot less!
@Freedom 2020 Navigation screen looks like crap and Bolts catch on fire.
The lot is empty. Chill out
@@benjibumble THIS lot is empty. What happens when they open the rest of the chargers, and our in-car route planner gives an inaccurate estimate because people with non-Teslas are taking up two spaces? Or that our cars automatically reroute when a charging station doesn’t have availability, but the inaccurate estimate results in us having to wait on non-Teslas that don’t charge as fast as ours? We’ve come to depend on a system that just works. Why didn’t other companies follow Tesla’s standard if there was a possibility that our chargers would open up to others? Would have been easy to adopt the Tesla charge port and move the port to the same side of the car…which is at the back of the car, just like a regular gas vehicle. Nope, they had to stick it right in front of the driver’s door…
@Clarence Asuncion. Hmmmmm.....you do realize that Teslas catch fire as well? And if you want to talk maps, Tesla maps is ******THE ONLY****** Satnav I have ever seen in my entire life (and I've been using satnavs for over 15 years) that does not allow you an option to "avoid highways". That is totally and utterly inexcusable!! Also can't use carplay or android auto so if you want to take a scenic route somewhere but Tesla decides for you that highways is more "efficient" you are stuck using a cell phone for directions. Makes me feel like I'm driving an econobox. Yes I have a bolt, but know what? I also had a Tesla and I dumped it. I've had 5 EVs (model y, ioniq 5 AWD, gv60 performance, Polestar 2, and bolt ev) and the Tesla was the most annoying of all of them to drive Of the 5 EVs I've had, I can honestly say that the Tesla is the ONLY one I would not consider buying again. Their only ace is their charging network.
