RAMP Test How to find your focal length!!!
Thanks for vid does this have autofocus ?
Nah this machine doesn’t have auto focus 👍🏽
carbon fibre is best cut with a water jet
Does thickness of material affect the desired focal length? Say it was really thick material
Thanks for the video good tip but how are you able to lift your top up and record my 80w 20x28 wont start cutting if the top is open any suggestions
Yeh I put a small zip tie over the switch to hold the circuit closed so the lid can be lifted you could use a rubber band also very easy to do just make sure you have your exhaust fan running if you do the fumes as you already know aren’t good for you 😊
@woodendayz ok thank you
Looks good. What speed and power did you use on this engraving project!🎉
Thanks!! Engrave speed from memory was about 200mm/sec @40% power cut was 15mm/sec @40% power 😊
@woodendayz thank you
Great job! What is your speed and power set to get clean cuts on wood
Hi this one is 3mm mdf from memory it was 15mm/sec at 40% power on my 80w laser machine 😊
Thanks for your video! I have a questionfor you... I have been contemplating a 60watt omtech, they seem pretty slow at responding to my correspondence which is making me now think about the Vevor 80watt you just showed. Question is, are you still happy with it, and any issuess worth noting, since this video was about a year ago, or maybe you have another YT video you can refer me to. Thank you again, Andrew😊
Hi mate, this machine has been great iv had it for 2 years now and still no major issues at all I’m very happy with it I’ve only had small issues but all quick fixes 😊
What is the maximum speed (mm/s) that laser can cut HDF 3mm without problems? You have SUB from me
thanks a lot, did you try with reduces air ?
Is there any option copy all? only one by one?😢
Only one by one
@@woodendayz Is there any way? To copy *.rd files in bulk. On RdWorks I'm clicking Download but i can select only 1 file. How can i select them all. Also Ctrl + A doesn't work.
Will this work with the VEVOR Rotary Axis Attachment?
Yes I believe it will although I don’t have one there is a switch on the front of the machine labelled rotary and just inside the machine behind the control panel there is a plug to plug it in 👍🏽
would be nice to know if you're still alive after shooting a laser on carbon fibre which produce toxic fumes which are more than really dangerous. if you do that more often, i guess there are no more videos coming
Hello, i have the same machine and i don t get the pass-through stuff. The entry for pass-through is lower than the bed. doesn t that make your laser head defocused while engraving or cutting? as far as i know, you can t lower the laser and the board will get stuck into the frame if you rise the bed and using pass-through. Do you have any solutions?
Hi mate yes I know what you mean it never made sence to me either as that’s correct you can’t lower or raise the laser head so it would only work with one certain size material so it’s pretty useless I think as far as a pass through
Hey, how is the machine holding up after 2 years? Would you recommend it compared to the new Xtool P2S?
Hey mate, yeh still going great haven’t had any problems with it so far very happy with the machine
What is the red wiring that on the laser tube for? I have my laser hooked up but it won’t come on.
It’s just the power wire have you got the laser switch switched on? On the side of the machine hit the pulse button see what it says is your water pump turned on?
@@woodendayz I flipped the switches & still no power. The water was running through the laser tube still no power
@@woodendayz do I have to do anything to that wire?
No you shouldn’t have to it should be connected to the tube on one end and the other should run into the power supply on the side of the machine
@@woodendayz the red wire is taped on top of the tube with electric tap on the end
Does your compressor turn on when you turn on the laser switch?
Not when I turn on the laser switch it’s set to auto in my Lightburn software so when my buy starts it automatically comes on but I can manually turn the air on with a seperate toggle switch I installed on the front of the machine
Great video. I’ve had about the same machine since 2020 and just decided it was time to align the mirrors and I’m in the middle of a mess!
What we burn is only the epoxy that’s holding the CF togther. Many years ago we played with RC helicopters which crash sometimes, the broken blades are usually hard to dispose. We threw it in a burning flames of wood and other stuff. Next day when the everything was just gray ash, the CF cloth remains as it is 😂. I just clicked this video out of curiosity to find out if laser works obviously it just burn the epoxy only. I m also looking into buying laser for my projects if CF is possible it would ease a lot of work, also CNC CF does produce the fine powdery residue need filtrations n respiratory equipment when working with. Thanks for making this video❤.
Looks good out of the box, would you still rate it 2 year later? and whats the overall dimensions of the unit? cheers man
Yeh mate I’m gonna be doing another review soon on this same machine as it has been 2 years and still going great man I didn’t use it for 3 months came out turned on and perfect cut 1st go so yeh super happy with it man 🤟🏽
I just bought the orange Vevor 100w with built in air cooler. I’ve added air assist and a refrigerated chiller. The website say it will cut 15mm in 1 pass but I’m struggling with 9mm (Baltic Birch ply) at 1 pass? I’ve focused and cleaned lens. 65% power and 10mm/sec speed cuts through but it’s not a nice clean cut. Any advice?
What compression do you use
I have mine set on 20psi 😊
@@woodendayz which compressor do you use?
My compressor is a 5hp with a 50L tank so it’s small but it’s quiet if I’m cutting it kicks on every few minutes but I have to say having the ultimate air assist with the compressor is soooo much better than the normal pump these machines come with so I highly recommend the upgrade. Have you managed to get your machine up and running?
@@woodendayz I have everything but my compressor. I’m thinking towards the fortresses 26gallon
Yeh that would be plenty enough
it cut 30mm clear acrylic
Nah I doubt that maybe it would in several passes but I don’t think the edges would look very good!
Looking at buying this exact unit. This helps a lot.
my son owns a harley and I would be interested in making one these for him. Went to your etsy store and had a look around. Is there a chance that I could pm you to ask you a couple of questions
Sure mate no problem at all 👍🏽
My locknut wrenches have yet to break free the red loctite on the adjustable z axis risers. Thanks for that, whoever decided I better undo the whole d$&) Z screw to adjust it.
What would be the best setting to cut 1/8 acrylic? I’m having so much trouble figuring it out without getting flashback
I usually do 12mm/sec @ 30-40% power seems to work well I think unless you raise the material off the bed your always gonna get some flashback as the beam bounces back off the honeycomb bed, I use metal egg rings to sit my material on that way it’s off the bed and I get pretty much no flashback 😊
@@woodendayz thank you so much!!!
Hey mate just wondering what you payed for one of these in aus?
Hey mate, I think it was $3800 and free postage 🤟🏽 good machine
Hi, I'm looking at buying this laser machine. Do you recommend it now that you have had it over a year cheers
Hey mate, yeh I do iv not had any major issues with this machine at all it’s been great even had it sit for about 2 months with no use turned it on ran an engrave and cut job and was perfect! 👍🏽
@@woodendayz that's for the advice cheers
Hey thanks for a great vid, where do you get the transfer trade from?
Hey mate, this is just light tack masking tape same stuff they use for applying vinyl decals I got mine from a local place to me called discount printing supplies here in Australia 🇦🇺
Do you use a compressor? I was thinking about getting the Fortress
Yeh i definitely do just a small 5hp with I think it’s a 50L tank seems to work really well the compressor kicks on a fair bit but it is not very loud and also in a shed outside so it really doesn’t bother me, I have the ultimate air assist kit and super happy that I did do the upgrade it’s so much better than the small standard air assist they come with 😊
@@woodendayz mines is indoors I just got my omtech chiller & infinity kit. I’ve had my machine since April & haven’t Used It. My goal is to be up & running in two weeks. Any tips or advice, for indoors?
@themeditationcorner6531 I unfortunately not really as mine is outside in my shed I would only suggest making sure your extractor fan is all plumbed up good with no leaks so all the nasties vent outside, I could not imagine having the machine for that long and not using it lol you would be very keen to get it up and running hope all goes well for you 😊
@@woodendayz ikr. Anxiety took over & lack of help. I mentally shut down. Your videos help me get to the point of buying my machine. Thank You. Now I just have to put it all together. My infinity Air Filtration Kit 6", Inline Fan Carbon Filter and Ducting will be here Thursday.
@themeditationcorner6531 yeh it can be scary starting out that mainly why I started doing the vids I had no idea when I started did a lot of research and just took my time hopefully you can get it ally I and running let me know if you have any questions happy to help where I can
Are those rond rings cookie cutters?
There egg rings but yeh basically the same thing work great for not burning up the underside of the material 👌🏽
How is the laser holding up after over a year? Really interested in getting one but trying to decide “Chinese” brand vs omtech. They look identical to me so far with my research.
Yeh I’m pretty sure they are the same or if not vevor maybe a cheaper version but this one I have has been great iv not had any major issues with it few things to tweak here and there but for the most part I can’t fault it! 👍🏽
More Videos 🥰
Do you know what the lens size and type are? I want to buy a new one, but how I know the type of the lens. Thanks
Awesome video mate appreciate this
Hey i know its a while ago but could you tell me what ply you used for this. Looks around 18mm but is it hardwood marine grade or something else?
Hey mate, I think from memory it was just some 12 or 15mm plywood not marine grade just c/d grade that I had laying around 🤙🏽
@@woodendayz ok cheers bud. Thanks for the reply. Going to have a go at exactly what you did. Just got to pick up some of that Oramask Great video by the way👍 Thanks, Peter
hello :) I have 5 questions, if you don't mind: 1: how small are the smalles holes or rectangles that you can cut out? 2: how thin are the cuts in PMMA? 3: is it possible to, for example, "etch" 1mm deep into thicker PMMA? (for example make sag holes/rectangles that remove 1mm from a 3mm PMMA plate without cutting through? 4: making PMMA areas "blind" is the same as engraving? can you vary the percentage of the mattified area? 5: I know there are small desktop plotters for this, but can you cut plastic foil (the colored foils on paper that you can place on PMMA plates) the same way with the laser? Thanks for a quick reply and with best regards!
Hi, yes you can cut acrylic very small just a few mm circle or rectangle and yes you can etch/engrave 1mm on some 3mm and not cut through it all depends on your speed and power settings that you use but you can engrave very light or very deep, The cuts are extremely thin if you were to cut out a circle then you can push it back in with almost no gap at all it’s very precise when cut by the laser 😊
I’m not sure about cutting foil or paper as iv not tryed that before sorry and yes you can vary the percentage of the engraving by selecting a different power setting and adding that to a specific layer in Lightburn
@@woodendayz thanks! :)
I have the same machine , but I have a problem when I cut the acrylic all is burning. am not sure what is the problem if you have any idea for this problem? Thank for you video
Hi for acrylic upto 4mm I do 14mm/sec with 40% power my machine is 80w
@@woodendayz Same my machine 80w but the same problem
Try a lower power or faster speed do you have air assist?
Did the machine come with the water chiller inbuilt, or is the chiller sitting beside hooked up to it?
On my machine the chiller is sitting beside it and hooked up To the machine, but vevor do sell them with the water tank inbuilt I think the 100w And 130w machines have that option
Hi my name is Fred I would like know if you have a rotary tool setup on your laser
Hi Fred, I don’t have the rotary tool but there is a connection on the machine for one to plug into! Thanks for watching, Cheers, Matt
I have the vevor 80w co2 laser I can not find any where to plug in a rotary tool and vevor are not much help can you tell me where the plug is there is no plugs inside the machine thanks Fred
@Fred-nv9vg mine plugs in just inside the machine on the right under the control panal there is also a switch on the front of my machine labelled rotary plane I assume this is to turn the rotary took on and off once it’s plugged in
Thanks for the reply I have no plugs inside or switches it looks like everything is just hard wired in So guess I’ll keep trying vevor until they give me an answer You have great content on channel.have you tried engraving on tiles I do Fred
@Fred-nv9vg thanks mate I actually havnt tryed tiles but would like to give it a go any info on speeds and power I should try?? Yeh I’m not sure if they all come with this installed I didn’t realise mine did when I’m purchased it wasn’t until I opened it up and realised it had the plug and switch
The motor of your machine is it a stepper motor or a servo motor? I’m wondering if it makes any difference when cutting acrylics. Thanks for your video.
Parameters???
What setting did you use to manage to cut through the 10 mm MDF?
10 mm/sec and 50% power will do 10mm mdf
Hi, i am looking to get a VEVOR Co2 Machine , i want to know how it been your experience with Vevor, and if you have any problem your machine , i hope you can help me , thanks 👋
Hi my machine has been great I haven’t had any problems this far only small things here and there but it’s definitely been a good machine
My bet is, Harley is going to send you a cease and desist letter. They are stupidly insane when it comes to their logos and other IP.
Yeh I have herd that but I think I’ll be right mate, they would have bigger fish to fry than a guy who has 300 views on a video lol 🤟🏽
Easier solution than deleting and saving is to just put them on different layers and turn the layers on and off for the different pieces
Yes of course not sure why I didn’t think of that lol thanks for the heads up that would make things a lot easier will use that on the next one cheers, Matt
@@woodendayzhope to see more videos
Brother great video! You can, however, open multiple Lightburn programs at the same time. Your project looks so cool. Thanks for your video.
Thank you mate I appreciate that and thanks for the advice I will have another look at this cheers, Matt
🥰
I’m doing a shit ton of research on lasers before I ever buy one. Glad I am.
Yeh mate research is key 👍🏽
@@woodendayzthanks for making this video. I’m trying to really learn about the safety hazards, the maintenance, the extra things I need like the air assist for fires, the chiller and stuff like that. Any thoughts on what to research? What problems I’m going to encounter and how to best setup my station? Do you have a surge protector or anything special for power?
Just research C02 lasers in general yeh you should have a serge protector on the laser itself iv been very fortunate with mine as I havnt had many problems at all my machine had been great I did the air assist myself using the ultimate air assist kit that I bought from Amazon and that made a huge difference so definitely recommend doing that
I want to have a machine like this
