THANK YOU!!! My battery died.. but your video solved the mystery. (2006 Honda Accord) Once I found the broken plastic I shook my head off!! You are doing God's work... That would have easily been a couple hundred bucks at the shop.

Both my vehicles ('08 Sonata & '03 Jeep Liberty) have major issues right now. My father always repairs them, but he's sadly in the modst of a heart fail battle. Thanks! Yours still solid metal switches. My 2007 model degraded to plastic switch. I removed the two lower panels as other videos suggested until I saw yours. Used a M6 bolt instead of the plastic crap.

The correct part number from Dorman is "74015". It's not "71045" as stated above.

Thank you for this video. We just followed your advice ... and went to the local auto shop and purchased the part and put it in...and the lights turned off! At first we did not push the stop pad all the way in and it fell out. We used some pliers to make sure the stop pad was pushed all the way in. Works perfect now!

To repair this problem you need the white brake pad stopper that looks like a Witche's hat, no other will do. Then have another person climb in the driver seat and apply a lot of pressure to the brake, while you are upside down on your back, this other person will allow you to insert the pad in the hole, otherwise it is really difficult. I have a 1195 Honda Accord Ex, and this worked with another person very easily, not so much by myself. Thanks for the video!

How did you get the electrical clip out?

What is the issue if it is stuck on the top mount? i cant find any videos or tricks

After multiple tries, watching youtube videos, I put the temporary fix, penny and duck tape. It worked. Brake lights go off. Waiting for plastic stopper I ordered. Then I will put it in. I am 69 years old woman with 2005 honda civic. I did make appointment at car repair place . I will cancel on monday. They were going to charge me more than $6 to fix. Diagnostic, order part, wait for part. Me having to use uber twice. $$$. Thankyou for video.

Not sure if not having brake lights is better than having brake lights all the time. More likely to get pulled over by a cop for no brake lights than too much brake lights. I would also think it would be an increased risk of getting rear-ended from no brake light and no rear indicator lights.

Awesome video! I got off from work this morning and got to my car and thought why are my break lights on.. 🤔 Came to TH-cam and you were the first video that popped up. I looked on the floor and immediately saw that the plug had come out. I popped it back into place and just like that issue solved. Thank you for posting..

I found that piece laying on the floor and couldn't figure out what it was. Tried to start my car for work this morning, and the battery was completely dead. I couldn't figure out where my short was or if my alternator was going out. I happen to look over at my car as the sun was going down, and noticed the brake lights were on. Did a quick Google and landed here. Thanks for sharing!
