How to make dough

I did this exactly like the video and my plaster of Paris gets cracks in it when I try to turn it over. I let it set overnight for two nights.
AS ANYONE CAN SEE POUNDING ON A TABLE IS A JOKE. GET A BLOCK OF WOOD & A HAMMER OR BRICK POUND ON THE WOOD OR PLYWOOD SURFACE NOT ON YOUR NICE TABLE. THE CLAY IS AN INSULATOR TO VIBRATIONS SO FORGET USING YOUR FIST. POUR AT CENTER AN LET IS SPREAD EVENLY WITH POUNDING WORK QUICK, Personally without a scribed name and birthdate feet are useless in years to come, Use a vibrating engraver make pencil and follow
It tuned out amazing! And with gold foil added it just looks so perfect!
Love to make this for valentine day for my Kids in my class but how can I keep it from drying so they can but their Hand on it please help me.
Thank you so much for this. I’ve tried and failed several times. Your instructions are excellent!
I followed your tutorial to a T, followed the plaster of Paris exactly according to the instructions, pounded plenty around, saw bubbles trying to come up but never popped. Mine turned out terrible. Any harder and my kitchen table would have broke! I have to re do them but not sure what to try different...
When stirring, maybe try not to get air bubbles in it when stirring
Can we use anything else instead of window glaze
Thankyou simple and sweet
I think if I do this project, I will place the window glaze and wax paper on top of a cutting board and lightly pick it up and tap tap tap the board like when you make macarons. That should get the air bubbles out.
👍Exactly what I was thinking. And maybe use a picture frame instead of the wooden ring. It's beautiful, I love it💕
What uh used window glazing what was that? Or What was the base is it clay or something else?

Nice video!
My Kindergarten teacher used this method to make hand prints for my class in 1960. This is by far THE best hand print method. It shows every finger print and wrinkle of the hand or foot. It’s great!
who disliked this video??????? It is amazing!
Plaster of paris what types you used
Bro how did she play with glaze without making a mess lol.
It’s like a putty. It doesn’t make a big mess. It’s called a glazing compound. It’s used to seal the glass on windows It’s not a liquid glaze.
The MSDS sheet for DAP Window Glazing indicates that it SHOULD NOT be in contact with skin and you should not inhale the vapors. This material is not safe for adults to touch without gloves, let alone a child.
I have used glazing compound for making prints for myself, my kids, and grandkids. Truly no lasting ill effects. Just wash hands after using.
This was very help! THANK YOU!!!
Thanks for sharing this wonderful project idea. I went ahead and bought the following: Dap 12121 1-Pint 33 Glazing Compound White Pint - $6.49 DAP Plaster of Paris Dry Mix 4lb Tub - $5.88 8 in Wooden Embroidery Hoop - $1.89 The glazing was very hard to handle but I found that leaving it open in air did harden it a bit and made it easier to mold/smooth it. Tried replacing the glazing with salt dough but couldn't capture the fine lines from the hand/foot prints.
If you knead the glazing compound for a bit, the texture improves. Salt dough will not give you the fine wrinkles. Only the glazing compound will do that.
I so agree with Taslima. If you knead the glazing compound a bit it will form into an easier product to work with.
If you get air pockets just press some polyfilla into them, let set and lightly scrape/sand once dry.
The window glaze smelled like straight gasoline. It also says on the tub to not get it on your skin. I really wanted to try this but I just couldn’t put my baby’s hand in all those chemicals. Looks super cute though! I might try salt dough instead for the mold
Sarah DeCubellis it’s perfectly safe. We just did it. Just gotta wash their hands after. I did her feet.
You won’t get the fine hand print wrinkles and finger prints with any other method. Neither myself, my kids or grandkids suffered any ill effects from touching this stuff.
For how long we can keep it with us?
you rocked it....ty bunches...
السلام عليكم ، من يعرف العربية يترجم لنا عن المكوينات
.
Thank you 😘💋
Plaster of pair is dangerous. 12 year old lost 8 fingers in UK. Be carefull around kids. It can burn eyes etc
steve michigan OMG really?
She was 16 and her hand became stuck in the plaster as it set
What? The hand is not supposed to even touch the hand. It just fills the glazing compound hand depression.
They print are so prettyyyy
Oh my what a wonderful craft so simple and cheap. Did it in our play group. I let the kids make them what fun thank you. I used just warm water and it worked.
How long i need tl wait to be dry? And can i use the same windows glazing more times?
Yes. It’s like a putty. You can knead it again after the dried plaster mold has been removed from the compound. It does take awhile for the plaster to set completely. I would like something other than plaster of Paris. It can break if dropped.

תודה!!
For the foot shaping can u use playdow and for the feet part can u use paist
litgamer 4900 yes. Play-doe works much better. Gives a better print. The glaze dries fast so you don’t have long to get it into shape you want and prints. Play-doe won’t dry as quickly as the glaze does
Play dough will not give the very fine wrinkle details. Only glazing compound will do that. The glazing compound does not have to dry before pouring the plaster of Paris on to it. I have not found glazing compound to dry fast at all. It’s a bit oily so it shouldn’t dry fast.
Window glaze can't find me....pls tell me another one we can use?
2 cups flour (for a gluten-free playdough, use rice flour) 1 cup salt 2 1/2 tsp cream of tartar (this is a powder and can be found in the spices section at your grocery store) 1 tbsp vegetable oil 2 cups water In a saucepan, combine all ingredients and mix thoroughly. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the consistency of playdough (roughly 5 mins). Divide dough into as many parts as desired to make separate colors. Use food coloring to color each portion of dough (just a few drops). Store in air-tight containers and it will last for years.
