TL1000S - Dec 2024
Video walk around my Suzuki TL1000S ...
My Suzuki TL is 'not quite' a standard bike and has been upgraded with a few aftermarket parts.
The thing is; I never wanted an O.E.M. TL in it’s original factory condition, and when I happened to see this one advertised with some aftermarket parts already fitted by former owners I took a gamble and bought her ...
The rest is history ...
I just keep adding more upgrades as I find them ...
I like to make the odd item and add pieces that make her look that bit different as well as also polishing parts around the frame, engine and chassis.
(*Don’t follow my lead with 'the alloy polishing' on your own motorcycle unless you are certain about doing this) ... When you start polishing the parts up there is no going back and it won’t add any extra value to the bike ...
For those who are interested, here’s a short list of some of the parts that feature ...
1. Polished alloy ‘Harris’ fairing bracket with Matris steering damper assembly and mount fitted.
2. Smoked double bubble wind screen.
3. Custom colour matched red / black seat pad.
4. Healtech ‘GIPRO’ gear position indicator with built in ATRE.
5. Healtech ‘Speedo Healer ‘
6. K&N high performance air filter unit.
7. R&G Frame mounted crash sliders.
8. R & G front fork frame sliders.
9. Stainless braided brake hoses to front and rear brake calipers.
10. Gilles rearsets.
11. Maxton rear suspension modification replacing Suzuki rotary damper assembly.
12. Shark - 2” wide bore full stainless exhaust system with high level performance end cans.
13. Tail tidy unit / colour matched undertray.
14. Siberdyne billet clutch window.
15. Stainless steel meshed side vent, air intake and oil cooler
16. 'OZ' Evo RSVR forged wheels.
17. Frank Graffy billet clutch pressure plate.
18. Gilles rear axle adjusters with lifter arms.
19. All LED console lighting.
20. LED sequential sweeping indicators.
21. Modified HID custom built 'Red Devil Eye' headlamp with LED sidelights. Made by TL headlamp expert Matt Bello-baamonde.
Acknowledgements:
My motorcycle certainly wouldn't be wearing the beautiful 'OZ' wheels without the help of my friend and enthusiast 'Steve B' who kindly helped me fit the wheels and also helped with the electrical work fitting the projector headlamp and wiring switchgear.
Cheers mate 👍 👌 🙂

Love it!! Great job! Merry Christmas!!
Looks great! 👌🏻
Really nice bike got one in 97 and have just one again doing it up as I find parts hart to get part’s
@mick377 Some parts can be difficult to find. Depends what you are looking for. Many owners suggest 'Robinsons Foundary - Vintage Suzuki Parts' ... &, also keep an eye out the TL forums - sought after items do crop up from time to time. 🙂👍
Will do thanks
🙏🍩 Stunning as always 🍩🙏
@@Captain-Donut Thank you ... 🙂
Nice one Nige 😊👍👍
Many thanks Luke ... Got her almost ready for 2025 ... Just needing a new rear tyre before taking her out again ... Aiming to get some decent time out on her in the New Year ... All the best 🙂👍
@NJS-TL1000S and you Nigel. Have a great Christmas 🎄🎄

@@NJS-TL1000S Sweet Machine! I have a VTR Firestorm - Is the handling & rotary shock as bad as they say? I've just purchased a '97 TL1000s & getting it shipped - i might have to upgrade the rear shock perhaps? Any advice on the matter appreciated 🇦🇺👍
@purebloodheretic4682 If the damper and SOAS are in very good working order and without damage to any parts then perhaps the bike should be OK, but bear in mind age of bike. Many parts getting well past their best and worn out. (They are all old bikes now) ... My TL came to me without it's rotary damper ... it had already been changed for a Maxton suspension unit. Handling on my motorcycle has always been OK. Much will depend on how well the motorcycle has been looked after & service history etc. 🙂👍
@NJS-TL1000S Thanks, I've only seen photos if it, I bought off a larger motorcycle dealer as one of their "Trade Ins" they just wanted to sell in 'as is' traded condition - It appears in great original condition 1997 Red model like yours & I'm told it's a 1 owner bike with 53,000 ks - the owner just traded on a Ducati Multistrada - I was told he shed a tear or two when parting with it - these bikes aren't as common down here in Oz it seems - there's heaps of VTRs & quotes few SV1000s - but you rarely see any TL1000s about these days, I think the Bike Journals killed the sales with the "Widow Maker" label - The Rotary shock scared many folks away from what probably is a great bike - not your average boring Inline 4 anyway - I'm prepared to get another rear shock if need be or mod it if possible - I'll just have to see how it handles - it might be alright!? I appreciate the support - Cheers Paul 🇦🇺👍
@purebloodheretic4682 ... There's some very good forums and knowledgeable owners on FB also worth checking 'Steve's TL' pages blog online ...
Ive owned a TL and an SV still own a DL wish i still had the TL also
So cool ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love mine so much
The high rise exhaust is deadly! LOVE IT!
What an incredibly beautiful bike. Enjoy the power and good weather.
Thank you 🙂👍

I sure enjoy my 03 SV1000S. I wanted the bike you are on but they were gone when I could afford one.
Wheelbase is so short on those it must alter direction with light input .I mean that wheelbase is shorter than most 600s and light wheels should make it drop into turns better.
Handling is not bad considering their 'reputation' ... Currently running Diablo Supercorsa's ... very sticky and traction feels good ... Maxton unit at rear perhaps helps too 🙂👍
What high mountain pipes are those? Are those wheels from ducati 999?
The high mount is a 'Shark' performance system with 2" wide bore headers ... The wheels are OZ forged Evo's 🙂👍
@NJS-TL1000S I'm picking up a red 97 tomorrow and need to start planning what I'm going to modify. I have carbon BST wheels from a desmosedici rr, cnc race triple tree from a 1098r and a few other items from previous builds. Will be my first suzuki
@opsmon ... Nice custom build by the sound it ... 😎👍
i love this twin , in my opinion this is the best v2 wound ever
Beautiful ❤️
Many thanks Luke ... 😊 👍
I look at and ride bikes and this is done so well and everything flows, its a standout.
@@paulscountry456 Thank you 😊 ... I filmed on an Akaso V50X camera ... quite inexpensive compared to some, but it's small & doubles as a dash cam too (if req) I was out on a lovely evening and the cam recorded the bikes 'growl' mostly at lower RPM as I just took a 'enjoyable' trundle in the countryside. ... My bike quickly becomes more thrilling once over 6000+ rpm, - has 17/43 sprockets. ... ( I don't need the speed factor these days 🤣) lol ... TL's just really fun to ride.
and over my house later on.
I have a similar encounter with a t6 texan!
What a beautiful sound, lest we never forget ✌️🏴
Thank you ... 🙂👍
Stunning.
Thank you 🙂👍
Beautiful sound, True classic of aviation . Well caught❤️👍
Thank you, it was a very unexpected moment ... Just sat on the pier enjoying the beautiful day and I saw the aircraft approaching in the distance ... Wonderful to see a Spitfire and a lasting tribute to the pilots that flew them 🙂👍
What a beautiful bike 👍 Br from Germany
Thank you 👍 🙂 & Thanks for viewing my video.
It really grew on me. Makes me want to own it
@@fromtheslumsofbethlehem2743 Thank you 😊👍
Got a green one with Dino jet power commander it stands up and fast as hell. Also bored over 100
Is it for sale
Thank you for viewing the video. Sorry neither of the motorcycles are for sale ... 🙂
ok but i want to ask you about the price to the gsxr1000 K8@@NJS-TL1000S
@@imadedineazira8168... The GSXR1000 is not mine, so I regret I can't give specific answers on that motorcycle.
I have a 97 TLS since 02
how many mpg ?
I refuel every 100 miles on the trip counter (or sooner) depending on the days ride ... Generally you get roughly 30 miles per gallon ... 🙂👍
@@NJS-TL1000S wow , I think mine gives very little in 3 hours and I don't have gas , smell too much to fuel
@freeriders.8526 ... just a suggestion, check the tank fuel seal ... leaks unfortunately are a common issue 🙂👍
@@NJS-TL1000S really? i suposse is the fuel injector o something like that but i believe not why the engine starts and accelerate perfectly , i check all , air filter spark plugs i have it already a week ago , most common issues you found on it? to check it, thanks!
@freeriders.8526 ... If you can smell fuel check under the bottom of fuel tank to rear and see if any fuel seeping from tank seal fuel pump gasket. This is always a good place to begin if you can smell fuel because the tank gasket seals are prone to failure over time. Unfortunately, I can't really give better guidance to help you as it's a case of trying to identify where fuel loss is happening by process of elimination. Do check out TL owners forum TL zone etc, lots of practical information. Just a suggestion to check tank and fuel lines for leaks before you go further ... Hope that helps, 🙂👍
Wow, wish I had the tools, the craftmanship to make a set like this! I love chess and would definitely love to have a wooden set self- made than just buying one .
Thank you 🙂 ... It is possible with quite basic equipment; but, I discovered the real professional wood turners make it look easy on a big lathe and with years of practice etc and so it was a very steep learning curve for me 🙂 ... After quite a few 'blunders' I did find a way 'eventually' ... Many thanks for watching my video & your comments 🙂👍
What wheels are those? And are TL and SV1000S wheels compatible?
Hello, they are OZ Evo forged spoke wheels from Aprilia RSVR with fully floating disks ... I'm sorry but I'm not able to say if SV1000 wheels are compatible ... The Aprilia wheels are not a straight swap as you have to have spacers made up and mine have a specialist 43 tooth 'Ergal' rear sproket that is compatible with 530 super heavy duty drive chain ... I have posted other video of the motorcycle with some quite close up footage if you wish to check it out. Thanks for viewing 🙂 👍
@@NJS-TL1000S Yeah I figured there would be some machining involved :) I'm not a fan of the 3 spoke Suzuki wheel lol
Have you got stainless headers on it? Man I love that sound
She's sporting a 'Shark' performance exhaust system. 2" wide bore - stainless. I've put a few other videos of her on for fans and enthusiasts of some close up detail if you fancy a look. Thanks for viewing 🙂👍
JUST GOT ONE FOR 2.3k
They are super motorcycles & well worth owning ... Great choice. Thanks for viewing my video short 🙂👍
Any more videos of the gixxer k8?
There's a short of the K8 next to my XJR1300 on one of my other videos ... The K8 belongs to a friend of mine.
