    I like your software app, even more important the price is right. A couple of things. Is there a space limitation? How many forums and how many uploads can the app support and where is it stored? Is there some way to build a shortcut from an item sold in the store, to a post in the forum. One of my products is vintage/pre-owned saxophones. The ad will provide a description, that is not my question. I would also like to make add a post for the specific instrument and the manufacturer as well, that a user can either access from the forum, or link directly into from the page that contained the instrument ad. For example a Selmer-Paris instrument is perhaps the most popular saxophone ever made. A person new to saxophones would see Selmer instruments for sale, and may want a quick synopsis of where manufacturer is located, and other aspects of the history of the company. They may want more information peculiar to the specific instrument. I would want to the company post, but I would also want a link to a post where people could read what some of the experts and other owners have added, or contribute something to the discussion. I would also want to let people post and embed affiliate links if they so desire. This is a store of course, and we want the sale, but the objective is obviously to provide an information service and an open forum for information exchange about saxophones and accessories, in return for building a subscriber list. To offer an incentive to bring in both posters who will bring in more customers, it seems only appropriate to allow the posters the opportunity to line their pockets for their time. I have many other ideas, but I really need to test the boundaries of the app right up front, so I know exactly what I have to work with. Does the app offer any tools to keep bots or spammers from saturating the message groups?

    • @GPTResearcher
      @GPTResearcher ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, A) We dont support embedding content on product pages, but I believe there are other apps that do. When you create a post on the forum it generates a link you can use anywhere (via Shopify or Other Plugins) B) Affiliate links - I would also explore getting functionality from another app C) Information is saved in a Mongo Database - no space limitations currently. D) re: spammers - we have yet to hear of a spam issue with our existing shops - visitors need to create a Customer Account on your store to create or engage with your content

Actually, I can live within the boundaries of your software, I was exploring it's limits. Today when i tried to install it, it said the attempt to connect to the server host (that's you?) timed out. Hi :) As mentioned in this video: Q1. What changes to XAMPP configurations can I make, if my CSV file is too large? Q2. What are the other workarounds, if my CSV file is too large?

    • @GPTResearcher
      @GPTResearcher 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A1: Within your XAMPP/phpMyAdmin installation, find a file called: "php.ini" Within your php.ini file find these variables & increase their size: memory_limit max_execution_time A2: If the above doesn't work, I would google the errors you're seeing & keep pushing through until the issues are resolved.

  • @shaws1249
    @shaws1249 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi :) Please forgive me if these are very basic question- but could you please let us know: Q1. What is XAMPP? Q2. What is phpMyAdmin? Q3. Why do you need both of them, especially together? Q4. What is an FTP Server, and why do you need it in this project? Q5. What is the link to download the FTP Server that you mentioned in this video, if we don't already have it? Q4. How does the presence of XAMPP, phpMyAdmin influence our being able to use Metabase better? Thank you so much! Your answers would be so very appreciated:) Am creating such a pipeline for the very first time, so am a little nervous to get my basics cleared :)

    • @GPTResearcher
      @GPTResearcher 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A1: XAMPP is a Desktop Application for running PHP-based apps on your local machine. You can download it here: www.apachefriends.org/index.html A2: phpMyAdmin is a free software tool written in PHP, intended to handle the administration of MySQL over the Web. A3: Many PHP Apps use MySQL. Technically, for this tutorial, you may be able to get by with just phpMyAdmin, but XAMPP makes it easier for you to setup & run phpMyAdmin on your machine. Based on experience, there were a lot of "gotchas" whem trying to run phpMyAdmin independently. But, you can take a shot if you have time to spare: www.phpmyadmin.net/ A4: An FTP Client allows you to push files from your machine to a remote machine (sometimes called a "Remote Server"). Technically, you don't need it for this project. A5: When you're installing XAMPP, you'll see a checkbox next to the "Filezilla FTP" app. Leave it checked if you'd it to be installed with XAMPP (another benefit of XAMPP) A6: The default Metabase installation doesn't support using a CSV file as a datasource currently (though there is a plugin for it that I haven't tried: github.com/Markenson/csv-metabase-driver ). The idea behind this series is that if you are capable of creating a Remote MySQL Database & uploading a CSV file into that database, then you can start playing with that data on Metabase. In general, when you're dealing with data, lots of times you'll get data in CSV format & I've found that pushing the data into MySQL often makes it easier to analyze. Best of luck :)

    • @GPTResearcher
      @GPTResearcher 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey @Akash, For the percentages on the bars, I would dig into the display settings of a given question. You'll have to play with it, but there's a section that allows you to be very specific on the data & I believe you can specify that the value of a given column should be percentages. For adding filters, have a look at the next video in the tutorial: th-cam.com/video/YMXUjLVOolQ/w-d-xo.html Good luck 😎

    • @GPTResearcher
      @GPTResearcher 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Josh, Thanks for Reaching out on this. Firstly Regarding your question via the Udemy Course, here's my response: Social King is divided into 2 apps: The Proxy App (Shopper-Facing) (runs on Port 7777) The Store Admin App (The Admin-Frontend app runs on Port 3000, and the Admin-Backend App runs on Port 8000) This is the reason there are 2 Ngrok URLs: one for port 3000 & one for port 7777) Regarding your question here: Can you clarify what you mean when you say: "adding the links to the pages"? Which pages are you referring to? Based on your query on Udemy, it seems like you're talking about how to set the Ngrok URL's within the Shopify Partners Admin Section? P.S. Are you using a Multi-Tab Terminal? That could be the reason, why Development may feel scattered. A multi-tab terminal can go a long way here in terms of maintaining a feng-shui state of mind during development.

      Sure thing. Option A: (within a Public Question - ie a Dashboard) You can click the title of column and it will automatically sort the rows in Descending or Ascending Values of the given column Option B: (Within the Visual Query Builder) While building the parameters of the data you'd like to Filter/View, Choose "Sort" and then Choose to Sort by whatever column in Ascending or Descending Order

    Extremely great insight. A lot of people fail to take the time to learn the fundamentals

    I am new to metabase. Currently working with Power BI and could not publish our dashboard without premium access hence started looking at metabase. My scenarios is need to publish our dashboard to our client and there may be multiple users. 1. Can i share my database using public link functionality in the opensource version ? 2. Will the link work when the user doesn't have metabase installed in their computer ? 2. Will they be able to use filters to filter the data (provided its there in the dashboard) ? I would greatly appreciate your inputs. Thank you so much for your video. you made my learning easier :)

      All Good Questions. Question #1: Have you deployed Metabase on a Cloud Provider like Heroku or AWS? If Metabase is deployed in the Cloud, then there shouldn't be a problem for them to access your app. But, you need to do 2 things: a) go into Your Metabase Admin Section and enable the setting "Dashboards can be shared publicly." b) Within the given dashboard, you will then be able to share the Dashboard Publicly. Just press "Share" or something like that. You should see a public link that Metabase provides you when sharing is enabled. When you share that link with non-Metabase users, they should theoretically, have access to all the filters that you have access to as a Metabase User. Feel free to let me know if that answers your question. Happy Weekend & thanks for subscribing :) Sincerely, Elisha

    Thanks for this video. When we share the dashboard with users , can users use filters and play around with that in open source version ?
