I agree. No deeper comment has been ever made on the subject of infidelity. Beethoven has said that he would not ever write an Opera on such an undignified subject, yet how wrong he was!!! For Mozart’s magnificent masterpiece on this “undignified “ subject is a beautiful statement on the way REAL human beings are. Mozart’s characters are always profoundly HUMAN, neither superheroes nor supervillains as in Beethoven’s Fidelio, but just deeply human, with qualities and defects like all human beings have.

I watch this opera for the first time.A very good production.I really enjoy the self-ironical moments and the gags in it 🎉The sweetest sounding arias are placed in it.Nice performance, everyone.

E nel tuo nel mio bichiero is always such a moving quartet/trio for me. I love it. She has finally found peace within in a love that wont abandon her and that is ready to be with her in peace and harmony. It truly is for me the best trio of this opera. Its also why i believe that in real life she would not have stayed with her previous lover, such betrayal after such a moving scene. Mozart and daponte best collaboration in my humble opinion

Mercy...this is so well acted and sung, it's almost uncomfortable to watch. Gilfry somehow summons up the all profound wickedness of the Don, and his almost disgusting raw sexuality, and poor little Zerlina in all her simplicity slowly melts under his relentless seduction. How must 18th Century audiences have received this, being used to so much more sterile and tepid subject matter?
