Daniel Day Lewis - The Ultimate Tribute
มุมมอง 320K10 ปีที่แล้ว
A tribute to Daniel Day Lewis, the greatest actor of all time. The voice, the physicality, the persona but above all, the soul of every character he plays is fully realised, completely honest and uncompromised. The likes of Brando, Spencer Tracy, Montgomery Clift, Dustin Hoffman, Al Pacino, Robert de Niro, Paul Schofield, Paul Newman and Jack Nicholson set the bar for what makes an actor an art...

A great actor once said: "If crying was acting, my great aunt would be a brilliant actress." Claire Danes missed that quote.

I think he retired when he noticed how awful movies these days have become. CGI and dumbed down scripts. He deserves better. Such a great talented artist.

Thank you, Mr D. D. Lewis for resurrecting president Abraham Lincoln for every present day and future American and teaching us that his moment was the pivotal point of our nation.

Don't write him off. Needs some polishing but he has a decent shot at doing some well paid commercials and theater even, who knows. I'd work with him in a few years if he keeps at it.

THE MAIL on Sunday/LONDON THE DECEIT OF DANIEL DAY-LEWIS ONE WEEK AFTER THE STAR'S SECRET MARRIAGE, A SPURNED LOVER BREAKS HER SILENCE

I really love so many actors. They all have played a little part in my life, whether I wanted it or not. DDL is for me, really really "one of a kind". Most of the actors I love, they actually have 1 or maybe even 2 others who could've done the part. But the what Daniel does, is just a bit more and not very easily repeated by someone else. I loved There Will Be Blood and Gangs of NY, which I saw in a sneak preview way back before the premiere in Holland, I literally was one of the few people who were blown away by that movie. Others were a bit tired after the movie, they didn't expect a sneak preview to be a full blown Martin Scorcese master piece. I appreciated it so much, that I watched it many times when it came out. Leo's part was outstanding, but it was really Bill the Butcher, not even Daniel anymore, who kept that movie so alive and kicking, I loved it. Maybe corny, but I have to say it, I am sorry: they do not make them like those movies anymore. P.s. I did miss the part with the "milkshake" in this list, that scene is just wonderful. But thid part out of There Will be Blood was also very strong. I wonder how others felt that, for me it was him actually missing and admitting painfully that he abondened his "son", a fraction of a piece of love which he still had for the kid. How do others see it, I am curious.

For such a striking man he has an uncanny ability to create every character from a clean slate with nothing of himself showing. And it's not just accent, mannerism, appearance. It's much more subtle than that. I saw a comment on another video which said every other actor in Hollywood should begin their Oscar speech by thanking DDL for not making a movie that year lol. It's true, they're all themselves pretending to be someone else. He IS someone else.

Many won’t recognize this, but as a film director, I am HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED with how Hollywood directors frame, block and stage it’s best actors. Notice how 99% percent of these frames were from the chest up (Medium Close). That is NOT OKAY. There probably was so much going on with D. D. Lewis’ hands, waist, legs, feet, breathing, etc in these frames that we were ROBBED OF, simply because the director and cinematographer didn’t understand how the subtext, theme, premise, character development + orchestration is revealed in Medium and Close Two Shots, Wide frames, Long Takes, Actor Movement + selective and potent Close up frames. The exception: 5:19 This had some potential!! 🤷🏿‍♂️🤦🏿‍♂️

He did what an actor was supposed to do. Adapt to the character you have been selected to portray, not like most hollywood actors and actresses these days that just look like themselves the wholetime in almost every movie with the same voice. I understand it can be hard but they get paid top dollar.
