Foundation Leveling vs. Foundation Repair: Which One Does Your Home Really Need?
Foundation leveling vs. foundation repair - What's the difference? 🏚️ Both terms are often used interchangeably, but they address different aspects of your home's stability.
✅ Foundation Repair: Addresses sloping floors and bowing walls and settles your home on load-bearing strata for lasting stability.
❌ Foundation Leveling: May fix the level temporarily but could cause more damage in the long run when proper solutions aren’t used.

    Ive done this before. Lots of work, and mess, but so rewarding to see the final product. A dry, clean, and sound usable space. Mike learned quickly that you must carry 2 buckets on the rubble out process, as he would have while carrying the wet concrete back in. Anyone who questions that has not done this kind of work or has a messed up back to show for it. Great showing of a day in the life.

    Really disappointed to see Mike promoting this as quality work. I hope they do another video with Mike showing everyone the service calls in a few years. Trenches not dug deep enough, system installed too high and tight against the block, system ran around the furnace instead of behind it, completely covered up the block bowed out instead of repairing the huge gaps, and more. When a company installs 4’ of “vapor barrier” they are hiding the real problems from the next homeowner. They didn’t install waterproofing, they installed drains with exposed grates.

    Entertaining. Mike Rowe always does and excellent job. What is the typical cost for this type of work in the SF Bay Area? My floors are straight but they bounce because the floor joyces are at 48" centers (cheap late 1970s construction)

    The gutter system they're installing is absolute junk!! A real trench needs to be dug with PVC pipe and cleanouts. If you go with this system, it leaves the slab sitting in water. It's NOT a good way of doing it. Covering up the wall that's falling apart in this video is pretty sad, too! This system will not last.

    what a substandard job, it needs to be fixed from the outside!! Your first job is to dig the outside down to the foundation to take the weight off the block wall, then you straighten the wall as best as you can where it's pushed inwards, you then break holes in the top of each block every three feet and fill the blocks with a wet concrete mix and hammer down some 10mm rebars. Then you clean the outside block wall and get it dry. Then you apply a basement sealer water barrier such as blueskin. Then you back fill with gravel. You can do the trench inside if necessary but my goodness..

    And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Hebrews 9:27) Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:7) For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Romans 10:13) The LORD is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit. I have serious issues with my foundation. Allegedly, the previous owner had something injected under the floor. There are holes drilled into the hallway floor. How can I tell if anything was injected under the floor to level the foundation? Thank you

      They do have floor leveling compound that is used in certain applications, but it would be a concern if put over top of wood foundation that was possibly rotted or getting weak structurally

    What’s the best way to not let this happen when the basement is first built ? This same procedure just do it while you build the basement ?

    • @SteveSherman-jp1dz
      @SteveSherman-jp1dz 25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Exterior french drain ideally away from the house by gravity if possible. Some type of external membrane which could be sprayed, painted, or stuck on the outside concrete wall before back fill. Then add a product that breaks the water pressure at the wall and allows all water to travel down to the exterior drain. Inside the foundation place drain tile that connects to a sump with two pumps (at least one with battery backup). The exterior drain should be doing all the work. The interior system is a backup, if the outside system fails or is overwhelmed.
