Thanks for making this video! Hard to imagine how difficult this becomes when your old and weak. I was shocked when my gs tipped in the driveway a few weeks ago, I wasn't on it. I always thought I could lift it (backwards) if the need presented itself. Took me 3 hrs (with help) to finally get it back up. Couldn't find any commercially available so I ended up making one. Hope I don't need it.

One problem I discovered; my KTM 890 would pee gas out of the vent with the bike down on its right side. It was coming out pretty fast and I was worried I wouldn't make it to my next fuel stop! The vent can probably be partially blocked but I wouldn't try this in my garage for fear of fire.

A spiked end with a stopper could be good on soft ground but maybe not so good on hard ground

From other videos the trick is to have the base of the pole right under where the bars will be when it starts to go up. You also need to anchor the base with your foot or something.

I recommend that you lift from the peg not the handle bars.

To be fair ... this was operator error ... it tells you on the instructions that the pole will NOT be vertical but leans into the bike naturally as the bike rises ... had you carried on winching it was going up and you would have had no problem. I would recommend a 'wide foot disc' when out on the trail and that might have prevented the pole from shifting?

The moto winch could also be used as a crutch when you walk yourself out of the jungle.

The base should be about 3” closer to the tank. You are like me. Try all the wrong ways first.

I made my own with some 2 - 18 inch plumbing pipe from home depot. You put them together with a connector, take a ratchet strap, put the wench end at the top of the pipe and hook the other end on the bottom footpeg or frame and just crank it up. I find that 36 inches of pipe is enough to get it up high enough I can just go ahead and lift it. If you buy 3 of the pipes you can wrench it up higher. Cost is about $20.

Maybe the wench has to be positioned closer to wear the handle is strapped to the wench when the bike would be in the close to upright position

How did you get to be so loud? I had mine installed and you can't hear the PA if you are sitting in a car in front of my vehicle.

I have to make it work, that's my mentality with the MotoWinch. The strap will dig into and tweak or destroy whatever is in the way and there's always something in the way on the bikes path to being upright in the outback; at some point the poles may begin to bow, the bottom will slip out on wet and loose terrain or the pole might simply tear through the rubber end cap, so I let the bike down, rearrange things and start over. Many miles from assistance with the sun going down I gotta make it work and it does - practicing hit and miss.

Having a year into it, how’s it holding up speaker wise? I’m going horn only version.

Pretty sure the base needs to be closer to the bike and perhaps even a tad bit under it as the pole will lean toward the bike as it lifts.

At most bike shows and on TH-cam there are vids of a "standard" woman lifting up a full dressed Harley. (with no accessories) So why can't you do the same with a bike that is a third of the weight? (and your a man!)

It might help to take off some of the weight, like the top box and the left pannier.. I think the pole should be put as close to the MC as possible and actually not straight up but pointing slightly away from the motorcycle.

Thanks for the video. It is great to actually see these things done in real life. The makers/sellers make a video and it looks so great and simple, but as with most such things, its rarely so when you try it yourself. Just imagine what it would be like out on the trail. You rarely drop your bike on a nice flat hard surface.

I just got the air horn only version for my Jeep XJ. The damn thing is louder than my Whelen PA112. For the record I have a Fenix 100 watt speaker. Insanely loud. Highly recommend it for a louder horn.
