Hello, I didn't find the exact problem yet, but I am still not done with this issue. I am quite sure that the only possible source is timing chain and specifically two possible sources: 1.) chain being overtensioned from some reason, dont know the reason 2.) the main tension rail where the tensioner is pushing is different between the original 1989 M42 and new OEM BMW one from year 2018+. The shape of the rail is slightly different even though they have the same part number. I will keep trying and I will let you know.

not yet.. but I am not going to give up! I have several parts and methods which I will test and hopefully I will find the reason for the whinning noise. How your noise appeared? Did you change some components of the timing chain assembly? Do you have any ideas?

In desperate but now I have my engine opened . I won’t give up and once I will find the problem I’ll come back to you

Ani mi nehovor... Robil som to, našťastie sa zvárač do Trabika zamiloval a urobil mi to za jedlo a pitie, ale roboty moc. Už by som do toho nešiel. :(

záleží na úhlu pohledu :) jako základ potřebuješ díly z origo 12V, to znamená držáky motoru, vanu, zvon, setrvačník, možná ještě něco. Pak největší problém je vyvážení setrvačníku, to je kapitola sama pro sebe. Pak potřebuješ nějak vyřešit sání a výfuk, částečně kabeláž. Když vyjdeš z modernějšího 24v (např. z 166) tak je to ještě složitější, musíš navíc řešit vanu, termostat. Všechno to jde udělat, ale není to jednoduchý swap jak na BMW, kde je to všechno plug and play :)

Nás to taky hodně překvapilo jak snadno šel ven z křoví. Ale bylo to asi proto, že ho majitel musel na zahradě před několika lety přestěhovat na jiné místo.

@@GreenyCZ stejně, jakmile jednou zareznou prasátka stačí pak třeba půl roku a zase se netočí

Ode mne asi nebude :) leda by si ho majitel nechával a chtěl ho třeba renovovat, ale to se teprve ukáže :)

Chissà se ha cambiato tutto il motore o solo le parti indispensabili per mettere su le 4 valvole per cilindro. E chissà se ha la stessa potenza dell'analogo modello 164 o qualcosa in più...
