Australia
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 23 ก.พ. 2024
Talking to the past, present and future game changers of riding in Australia and beyond.
Episode 11 // Vince Byron // The Head Angle BMX Podcast
From the sleepy Central Coast of Australia to the bright lights and glory of 14 XGames Medals, Vince Byron ain’t scared of stepping it up.
His rise from shredding Australia's East Coast parks and mini ramps to dominating vert and mega ramps around the world has been meteoric to say the least.
Laid back and funny as ever, Vince sat down for a solid talk on his journey in BMX, the vert riding dilemma, riding snowboard half pipes, ending the Bestwick legacy, Olympic Coaching and of course, the legend of the HiVis.
Enjoy! With a VB of course….
A huge thanks goes out to Mick Nieland for making this special episode happen.

Episode 6 // Eddie Fiola // The Head Angle BMX Podcast
มุมมอง 2909 หลายเดือนก่อน
There aren’t many who have stood at the top of a generation of riders, untouchable for their unmatchable style, progressive riding and wins in competition. Names like Hoffman, Mirra, Aitken and Reynolds spring to mind. Yet before them, one name defined freestyle in its infancy, possibly more than anyone will ever do again. We were stoked and more than a little humbled to sit down with one of th...

Episode 10 // Dennis McCoy // The Head Angle BMX Podcast
มุมมอง 4.3K9 หลายเดือนก่อน
To ride BMX consistently from the early 80’s to the here and now is virtually unheard of. To have a pro career that’s lasted that long is even rarer. It’s not that much of a stretch of the imagination to simply call it legendary. Dennis McCoy is a rider that has defined BMX from the day he began riding one. From flatland runs that linked so much into one run, to spinning 900’s on vert along wit...

Dennis McCoy, The Adidas King!
Promo'SM
I remember Dennis way back in 1983 at Burm busters BMX,....he was racing & had a hard time,...he had the BEST style on the track,...I remember doing tricks in the pit area with him,..he said one time to me,..hey ,...your pretty good,......he was already real good,.........another year went by,....hooked up with some riders in the area,......said we were gonna go ride with Dennis,.....its was really awesome,...we found a quarter pipe & it was killer getting little tips from him,..he was working on the cherry picker,......we did a small trick show with him at an indoor race. Such a genuine nice guy,....intimidated me with his skill level,..I didnt feel worthy. In 1985 my family moved to Denver middle of school year 10th grade. My first day A guy in class saw BMX stickers on my folder,...he rode too,... I told kim i was from KC,...He asked me do you know Dennis McCoy? I said YESSSS,....not sure he believed me,.... a few months went by & the Haro team was coming to do a show,........we went,........I remember before the show Dennis rode right up to me & said ,..what are you doing here? My new friends mind was blown. Dennis said come talk to me after the show,......Did'nt feel worthy to take his time,..did'nt know what to say to this future BMX legend. Your the best Dennis,..you deserve everything thats come your way. THE REAL McCOY i'll always rermember
Did Dennis just talk for 3 hours straight without being asked any questions? lol... what a legend!
It's great to hear about all this stuff, but come on, add a few pictures, event if it's just stills. I mean I see stuff on the walls, and I'm sure these guys (Eddie Fiola, Dennis McCoy, etc.) have a ton of pictures. This is a video podcast after all. Anyways, thanks for doing this. Cheers
brillant
Rad as fuck. My original BMX hero. Boy doesn't need coffee, already high on life.
2 hrs in and he's still dunking his tea bag. :)
i miss the vans pro cup
Best weekend of my BMX life was at the 2-Hip Meet the Street at the Brooklyn Banks in 1989. Rich Bartlett and I had a room paid for by Vision. Dennis, Rich Thorne, Mat, Steve Swope, and a couple other KC guys stayed in our big room. Riding Manhattan with all those guys for two days was the best bike fun ever. Dennis rocks!
This sport will have its high and lows but will never die. Dennis is a unique personality and an amazing athlete who deserves every bit of recognition. 1983-1990. I will never forget the times you came to visit us in the Big Apple. God bless, bro. Julian flatlander from Brooklyn, NY👍
Great listen!
Loved hearing about all the old fellas that were around in the early 2000s, really stoked to share some memories with some of the greats, Danger included! Although I remember having to arm wrestle him to win the tie breaker in an AM comp at monster, kinda felt guilty in winning that arm wrestle as he was still a young lad at the time haha
I got to work with Denns building all the Gravity Games courses that him and Duncan came up with. Never knew he had a care free, DGAF side to his personality. He was always pretty serious when he was demanding we make changes to the finished courses 😂. But after all of the arguing and shit-talking from our crew of skater/builders, he's a super nice guy and radiates his passion for BMX. Even though skateboarding was where i found once in a lifetime opportunities, my grade school years were spent on BMX bikes. My first real bike was also a Webco. Seeing Dennis win a vert comp at 43 inspired me to get a BMX bike and started riding again at 38. My focus on creating wood structures quickly shifted into a trail building obsession. Been building and riding solo for the last decade , though the last half of that has been on a 26" Dirt Jumper. Huge amount of respect for DMC.
this is facking great! Thanks!
Legend and great stories that take me right back to emulating Eddie and Mike (in my own mind) on my 6ft q pipe ❤❤❤
Awesome interview! 😎
Happy to have just found your podcast! I’m a HUGE consumer of podcast and thought I knew of every bmx podcast out there. While the head angle is a great title I highly recommend adding BMX somewhere in the title so it can be found by bmxers searching podcast apps. Thanks!
I’m so glad to see this interview. Dennis has so many stories and great memories spanning every generation of the sport. Much respect for all he’s accomplished. We were both in the same BMXA photo contest and when we crossed paths for the first time in about 20 years, he brought up that story. Amazing memory.
Dude, I remember you. Cancan g-turn on a candy apple red Trick Star. Awesomes!
Great interview… Did Dennis ever actually drink the tea??? He kept steeping it, but…
I was about the say the same thing 🤣
A great conversation with the ambassador of Freestyle and BMX through 3 generations! Classic.
This interview was great. Gary Pollak never did anything bad and I have no idea what he was talking about with the microwave.
Neither did thereallargeray😂
