My laptop cannot handle OBS and the editor and the engine at the same time at all, hot damn.
I gave myself a deadline of until the 31st of October, so I've been racing against the glock these past few weeks trying to get as much done as possible and make the editor as usable as possible by that time.
It's clearly no Unity Editor - there's no way to edit animations, no preview for the game camera, no way to edit UIs (yet)... BUT it already lets me do stuff I'd before need to do via code, and thus have to wait for a recompile to see the change, which for things like positions is incredible tedious and time consuming. Now I just drag a janky gizmo, or drag a file onto a thing, or type some numbers, and that's that.

F-pressing and bhopping extraordinaire, now in L4D2? What what? So far only that default skin was ported (used promo art for reference of what bits of gear to keep and what to delete), but porting the others should be pretty trivial. Uploading 7 more mods to the L4D2 workshop, however.. is another story.

Turns out the 3D spatial stereo was completely broken and was the cause of the resonance plaguing the previous recording. NOW things are working as intended. Also here you have more examples of how some sounds are heard from far away, mainly some explosions since I think they're pretty cool :)

First time coding an N-tree of any sort, and I gotta say, I am impressed! They're surprisingly intuitive to optimise for/with, and it's just a perfect fit for something like this. I wish I'd started using them earlier. Inspired by www.beamng.com/resources/enhanced-chase-camera.29131/ Local script launched in an async thread running on a constant while loop. Bit stuttery due to not always being in sync with player framerate. Acceleration effects exaggerated for fun. I'd link the script, but I wanna port it to an 'Draw3D' mission EH first since the while loop is otherwise going to get way more stuttery and ugly...

Terrain looks good, once textures and foliage are added I bet it'll look nice. Clouds seemed to move too much in response to camera movement. Might look into that. The fog, lighting and shadows looked pretty good too! Keep at it. You're doing a good job
Thanks! Yeah, the movement is a little exaggerated, I'll probably end up tweaking it more later. Though, to be fair, I *was* moving at almost a kilometre per second lol Foliage is something I've been thinking about lately, since before I used to just spawn trees around the player with aggressive LODs. Worked, ran okay (matrix buffer issues aside), but obviously it's not scalable for the size of terrain I want to have, i.e. the one in this video. Doing that over a million by a million metre terrain - especially considering the kind of view distance on display (video view distance is about 65km - that's over twice the total length/width of Arma 3's Altis map) - would crash any computer. Definitely gonna have to think of a clever way to show foliage far away without sacrificing performance. Maybe a 2D layer over the terrain with a masked, tiled texture.. I think I remember a VRChat world or early 2000s game that did that without it looking too bad from above. Then I could transition from that to billboard particles, then finally to actual 3D models when really up close. Dunno.

I'm pretty sure actually ripping the audio from the game is near impossible nowadays, all I did was mute everything else, wait for the song to finish its first loop, turn off all audio enhancements in Windows, surround sound, loudness EQ, etc, set the game audio to Stereo instead of 5.1, mute all programs in the Windows Mixer, and then record the system audio in Audacity. The hardest part was probably setting all that shit back to how it was lol I still don't know if my sound effects volume was at 4 or 5, and I probably never will.

Yup! The main theme was added as an optional menu theme, shotgun patterns got changed, alternate map versions were added, and some duel things were tweaked Idk I don't play duel nor 2v2.

I'm not sure if I got right your problem, but usually when an object is shaking even when there is no other force besides gravity being applied to it, we can fix it by defining a minimum amount of force before triggering the object physics again. - Why I say "again" Because in order to gain performance we sleep(turn off the physics) the object if the force he is suffering is lower than a defined threshold, that way if the bouncing or any other type of movement he is doing is micro we won't compute, that is one way of preventing object shaking another issue that might be causing it, would be if the collision box is getting too deep inside other obj collision before updating outwards in order to prevent getting inside it. if your rebounce math takes in consideration how far it goes inside other collision box, the late update could be adding more force upwards than the gravity thus making it sustain an infinity bounce state
I did implement some very basic sleeping in the physics which I kinda show in Making my computer cry, though I didn't have a threshold for reactivation. Good idea, though! I'll try doing that later and mess around with some values for the threshold. Something like that would probably help a lot with the stability of stacks. Still need to figure out damping though! As for what the issue here was, I'll copy my reply to another comment over: The fix ended up being simpler and the cause dumber than I thought. Turns out the rotation from angular velocity was just being applied the wrong way around. I was doing it by multiplying transform.rotation by the quaternion resulting from the angular velocity delta, which means that I was applying it as a local rotation to the transform.rotation, instead of as a worldspace rotation. Reversing the order of multiplication fixed it. The simulation is still very much unstable as Yipee and Making my computer cry show, of course, but it does work now. Just needs to be refined and optimised over time.

Before you even THINK of commenting about the graphics, or the disappearing road, know that I'm running the game off an MX110 and an 8th gen Core i5. And the game is installed on a USB device - and so is my OS, for that matter, so yeah. I can't run Halo 3: ODST, to give you some perspective. That's how bad my *laptop* is. But I can run the game well enough to enjoy playing it and to enjoy looking at it (as you can tell from when I just stop and look at my car against a background).
The amount of suck I suck is amazing, even against bots. Though the varying framerate doesn't help.. Not the fault of the game, mind you. I'm running the game on a shitbox laptop that can barely run Halo 3 ODST. And it's summer in Brazil, so CPU temps are rarely under 80, even when idle. Yet I still enjoy playing the game. Because in those few moments where I don't suck, where I manage to make some sort of play, or hit all my shots consecutively, there's no satisfaction greater than. I'd play PVP, but the South America servers are all but dead, and at this hour of the day, so are the NA servers. Not just that, but lag compensation cuts off at 250ms of ping, so if I join a match where my ping ever goes above that, I'm gonna be "missing" shots that, from my perspective, I actually hit. Frustrating to say the least. ALSO FUCK TH-cam MUSIC ADS HOLY SHIT

Feel like this game got so much unnecessary shit just because it wasn't L4D3. Turtle Rock completely fucking botched the marketing for this game, I feel like if it wasn't advertised as "From the minds of L4D" and was just more of "From Turtle Rock Studios" people would have looked at it as another fun or even memorable horde shooter. Fucking sucks that it ended up like this. And the kind of shit that it got from L4D fans kinda makes me look at L4D with a more sour tone too. Wish the game got a better chance at being itself than just being "not up to par" with L4D, because it's still extremely fun
