hi, how to reserve the onsen private? Do they cater walk ins without reservations?
Hi! For Myoban Yunosato Onsen (the little huts) those are walk in only so best to arrive early. For Hyotan Onsen, they take both walk ins and reservations! However, it’s recommended to make a reservation in advance because the walk-in private onsens have limited availability, and sometimes might take a couple of hours for one to open up. If you don’t speak Japanese or don’t have a phone plan that can make calls in Japan, you can definitely ask the front desk at your hotel to make a call for you! Give them Hyotan’s phone number, your ideal time to go, and specify if you prefer an indoor or outdoor bath (we reserved the outdoor Kawasemi bath!) @@katharinefan Thank you. what time is your reservation in hyotan onsen? Is the yakiniku just near the hyotan?
Our reservation was around 6pm! We reserved the morning of, and I think that was what worked best for our schedule. Hyotan is up in the mountains so we headed straight back to the city center (near station/hotels) and took a taxi directly to Ichiriki yakiniku afterwards, which took around 15-20 minutes. I would recommend to get to the restaurant as early as possible, as it’s very popular and it was fully seated when we got there!!
