Since March of 2020 I have been practicing the Wim Hof Method. I began doing this hoping it would help rebalance my hormones which remain wonky since menopause causing me to have an over abundance of hot flashes, fibromyalgic aches and anxiety attacks, muscle cramps, insomnia, etc. For the past two years I also begin a regime of fasting for 20 hours on Tuesdays and Saturdays, which helped quite...
Electric Bike Company - A Commuter’s Impressions of the Model E

This is not a comprehensive view of the engineering specs or a comparison of energy budgets and speed times of the Model E the Electric Bike Company - this is a commentary of my layman/ordinary-older-gal’s perception of the bike after commuting on it now for 3 weeks, 5 days a week. My commute is 22km round trip, with much of that on gravel with sizeable hills. I’ve ridden in rain and light snow...

Since 2005, Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada has vibrated with the galloping of wild horses upon its landscape thanks to the intercontinental conservation efforts established by the Ravenseyrie Sorraia Mustang Preserve. In 2013, in response to the success and substantial growth of the herd, males and females were separated and the mares were moved to a range in the southwesterly sector of the...

Bachelor Band in the Shady Grove

On the Ravenseyrie Sorraia Mustang Preserve, most summer days one will find the bachelor band in a breezy spot at the edge of the forest, where some relief from the intense heat of the sun and the irritation from biting insects is lessened. Perhaps, like me, they favour this particular locale you see in the video because it has the soothing sound of the harbour bell to enhance their dozy states...
Sorraia Stallions - Shows of Bravado
มุมมอง 3K8 ปีที่แล้ว
Some of the stallions living on the Ravenseyrie Sorraia Mustang Preserve (Manitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada) demonstrate their dynamic shows of bravado during a light rain. Jerry the draft mule lives among these wild boys, and as you will see a Whitetail Deer tries to get a better look at me sitting there on my rock. So many different dynamics, it was hard to know where to point the camera!

Altamrio! Sensational Sorraia Stallion
Your wild horses make my heart sing ❤
@@alexandramabson4234 I feel the same way!
My boy is a Spanish mustang who looks so like a sorraia, apart from a blue eye and white wonky blaze. His whole shape seems slightly different somehow to regular horses/ponies (and he's so very clever).
Do you know why are they crossing garrano with sorraia? Trying to fix the Dun factor in Garrano perhaps?
I believe the focus of this particular rewilding project was to reclaim/enhance the presence of abundant stripes and it was experimental to cross with other wild type equines, such as the Garrano. There was a time when they had a heavily striped grulla Lusitano cross in the program as well, but to my knowledge, none of these experimental crossings reliably produced abundant stripes. Dun factor stripes continue to be a bit of a mystery, some offspring get just a few stripes, some get none and a few rare instances are abundantly striped. As much a mystery as the medieval Zebro has been and continues to be.
love your work <3
Thank you for viewing!
lovely!
Beautiful! I love the sounds too ❤
Thank you! I always remember how you described the low grass horizontal spider webs as “spin rags”, so I think of you, Miek, every time I see these types of webs!
Wow where are you from?

Fearless!
In this instance, fearlessness is a learned skill - anyone can manage it! And the QUICKENING that one gets after getting out is medicinally addictive!

Beautiful
Thank You for response! Your activity about atavistic horses is very well, and very good frequency for my Soull👍❤💥
Lynn, how did you separate the bachelors, and Altamiro's harem? I am very sad because of 2 gelding......
Hello András! All these things have been documented in the Journal of Ravenseyrie and the separation of the males from the females occurred in 2013. There were 20 foals born at Ravenseyrie, 2 of them were from half-siblings, the rest all by Altamiro. We have limited space and limited finances and limited energy and could not sustain continued growth. The reality of this was most difficult - and much more sad for us than for you, I can assure you. At least we are able to continue to provide for both groups to live in wild habitats. Should there be conservationists in Canada interested in beginning their own preservation of these types of horses we would definitely consider sharing from our mares and stallions to get them started.
Hello Lynn! I hope you are very well nowadays! Bachelor group is segregated from main group? How did you separate them from Altamiro & mares? Andrew from HUNGARY
Sar plzzz tele me this breed hwoz cantry Sar sem breed in indya
These are Sorraia Mustang mares. Some are from Spanish Mustang heritage, others are part Spanish Mustang and part Portuguese Sorraia. I hope I understood your question and gave you a helpful answer. Cheers!
Beautiful. If I was fortunate to have land like this, I do believe I'd be doing exactly the same with it. This is my idea of perfection for an endangered breed. They will thrive here, thank you for doing what you do :)
Wow, they sure are pretty. Thanks for putting this together.
I agree, even though they are presently sporting a good number of burrs and tangles in their tresses and of course are in winter pelage with many a patch of hair nipped off from all the stallion scuffles. Yet, so handsome! Thank you for your comment. All the best in 2020 for wild living horses around the world.
Yep, happy new year to ya. Are there any family bands on the preserve?
Sadly, no. We are just two people with a limited range and even more limited finances. You can read about the tough decisions we had to make, here: ravenseyrie.blogspot.com/2013/05/a-new-phase-of-conservation-for.html
These are wild living, rough & tough stallions with much of the footage taken before their winter coats were fully shed, making them seem even more crude and rustic - and yet, yes...so beautiful in movement, harmonious with their wilderness habitat. I’m glad you found the video and enjoyed it!
Are they all mares? Oh, they’re not wild
This was beautiful. Wish to have my art in a gallery as well
I'm glad you enjoyed it. It is a great honour to be in a gallery as lovely as the one in The Gore Bay Museum. All the best to you, and thanks for watching!

Beautiful boys!
Michelle, This video is now available for public viewing, so yes, feel free to share!
beautiful! please let me know if I can I share this. love you - Michelle
Dont mix them with another Breed ! PLEASE breed them PURE ! they are almost Extint only 180 exists in the World ! God bless you and your horses !
Maraff, please tell me what pure means to you and what that means for Sorraia?
You must reproduce him with another pure sorraia but you must have careful with the consanguinity ! REPRODUCE HIM and save this ancient horse who is the direct descendent from the ice age horse TARPAN ! Sorraia is the father of all Lusitanos horses a very pure ice age horse ! SAVE THIS BEAUTIFUL HORSE FROM EXTINCTION ! CANADA is a very rich land and you have the means to Reproduce and comercialize this precious horse ! DO NOT MIX HIM ! Breed him PURE with other PURE SORRAIA ! Thank you very much and GOD bless you canadian people !
Maraff, please read the overview page in my Journal of Ravenseyrie to assist you in understanding what an important role Altamiro has made for Sorraias in Europe as well as Sorraia type mustangs in North America: ravenseyrie.blogspot.ca/p/overview-of-ravenseyrie-sorraia-mustang.html
Lynne Gerard Mustangs are not sorraias !
Maraff, you have written " SAVE THIS BEAUTIFUL HORSE FROM EXTINCTION !" There are many viable ways to assist in this, and what has been undertaken at Ravenseyrie is important and perhaps vital to the overall cause.
Lynne Gerard great respect for that ! eep the good work ! some sorraias mustangs could save the race !
Portuguese Pride!!
I agree!
Lovely to see! These Sorraias are beautiful. Years ago I bought a Criollo in Assisi, Italy and rode him back to my home in Wales, UK. He was the splitting image of a Sorraia, same colour, same eel stripe, same nature I daresay, being highly tractable and very sure footed. He was easy to handle and very brave. When crossing the Alps he never flinched even on high rock, I kept him for years and he died of old age a couple of years ago. To watch these Sorriaias reminds me of him. Like yours, he had the run of open land too, no fences for him! Well done you for preserving this blood: it matters and has had a huge impact on the Criollo horse. Thank heaven! Though one wonders what kind of conditions these horses went through on those little wooden ships that took them from the Iberian Peninsula to the New World in 1526?
jerebuck, thank you for sharing about your Sorraia type Criollo. Please email me images if you have any. ravenseyrie@xplornet.com If not, it is nice just the same to read your fantastic memory of a long journey together.
There are very nice horses. However, only a purebred sorraia. If my information is correct. Some look better than purebred Sorraia. Perhaps is the sorraiahengst wrong in the herd.
Sven, my Journal of Ravenseyrie overview page tells about the foundation of our horses, who the sire and who the dams are: ravenseyrie.blogspot.ca/p/overview-of-ravenseyrie-sorraia-mustang.html I hope that helps you remember about our role in the conservation effort of both the Sorraia and the Sorraia type North American Mustangs.
hy LYnne! - i see you have realised not to gelding horses, but hold them as bachelor-group...... I am glad...
Beautiful Altamiro!!!!!!!! Thank you!!!!
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful!!!!!!!! Thank you!
Lovely horses, it's great that you're working to preserve them. Beautiful, peaceful video.
Jan! I am glad you were able to view the video and appreciate the life these horses have on our beautiful island.
Beautiful as always. Thank you, dear Lynne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My pleasure! And I'm sure you saw Levada and Tocara and Alegria's daddy in some of the images, yes?
Lynne Gerard tocara... not so sure. but levada and interessado yes. and one of the mares has a very similar face like Grelo.
Claudia Radbauer the one at minute 1:45
Claudia Radbauer i just wish i had your property for my horses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Claudia Radbauer Tocara is in the photo at :52, on the far right and also in the photo at :59 in the centre. The mare with the face like Grelo is Levada's dam, Zorita. Those fillies were yearlings in these images. And to think now the live on your ranch in the Vienna Woods...soooo far from here. I miss them, but am happy to know they are in a good place with you and poised to continue the conservation efforts there in Austria.
wow where are these horses? They're gorgeous
I wish I was that horse. Thanks for posting!
