Went down to Ninilchick last weekend was suppose to go halibut fishing Sunday boats couldn't get out we tried our luck at the beaches there got 3 tiny Irish lord's or sculpin.

This is just one of those steps closer to him spreading his wings. That was great. I've commented on some of your fishing posts, I like to fish, but for me hunting in Virginia is a passion, whitetail and black bear. Caribou is probably one of the few animals other than perhaps black bear I could afford to hunt in Alaska and is on my bucket list. I can see why you moved there. Absolutely beautiful country. In the past I've driven into this in reverse. It will cause the water to be much lower in the front of the vehicle and not drown it out. Just an idea for future reference. Great video!

There is no way I could hunt like most of those folks with the ATV’s. The easy access afforded these hunting parties is what destroyed the caribou herds in Quebec; too many people putting pressure on the herds and too many animals taken. By the time the Ministry figured out what was going on, it was too late. I hope the same sort of thing doesn’t happen to this 40 mile herd. Now I understand why people save their $$ to hire a pilot and do a drop camp in the middle of nowhere.

This hunt is not our Typical hunt the way caribou in this unit are hunted is unlike our usual pack in hunts like I use to do when I guided for elk in Utah one thing I have learned is some people don’t appreciate how Alaskans hunt and fish it is a way of life for them and who am I to judge them I am trying to embrace the methods and freedoms offered Here hopefully it’s not to Offensive to our viewers I’m sorry if I does I am learning how Alaskans survive and love every opportunity we have been afforded here in this awesome State

I am so sorry you weren't able to get a caribou, I hear they are good eating. But, the beautiful scenery, landscape, and especially the fog drifting in the valley were absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Seems Alaska ALWAYS delivers something to make every day and event so very special. Hopefully, you will get a caribou on the next hunt. But, I have to admit, this old lady's body was getting worn out just watching you do all that walking at such high elevation. LOL! You never keep any halibut over 70 lbs. It hurts the fishery. And the big ones are always full of worms. We never ate anything over 70.

11 pounds!!! I've never caught a fish that big! I think it is so awesome how you all share your knowledge and even your fishing with others so maybe they can pass it on to their kids. Everyone should know how to catch and process food, especially fish. But that boy was glowing with joy and pride that he reeled in that fish. Thank you Momma B for letting that boy have a memory he will never ever forget. He will always remember that day, that fish, and he beautiful lady that let him reel in her fish. Seward sockeye snagging is quite the harvest! We look forward to it every spring. Our quick tip - NEVER use braided line. These channels aren’t more than 20’ across. So if there’s someone across from you, your lures can easily get tangled. If that person isn’t all that experienced, you’ll be getting tangled A LOT. And with braided line, all you can do is cut the line and waste time re-tying it. With mono it only takes a few seconds to untangle and you’re right back to catching. BTW, we use 20lb mono and we’ve never had a problem. No need for anything heavier.
