    Hello, what is the best filler for larger gaps on a newly installed refinished solid hardwood floor? We don’t want to sand it or stain it. Thanks!

    Important point is that the underlying layers are laid in alternate criss-cross pattern so that the wood will now expand in any one direction the way solid hardwood can. It is essentially a hardwood layer on top of plywood -- which is also build using the criss-cross pattern to give it strength and stability.

      It does actually because 1 mm or 2mm thickness top layer it’s just veneer shaved off a tree in a continuous sheet. Where anything from 3mm it’s been sawn off a tree trunk . And yes the base is very important to be of plywood because it gives its structure and stability in the environment ie it shouldn’t be bowing in high humidity

      I got mine from a company called Luxury Flooring and Furnishings. They have the click type in engineered wood. The one I got was Painswick Amber Engineered Oak (herringbone pattern). Hope this helps. If you talk to their live chat they can give you a nice additional discount

    Thank you! You explained what the lever was for as the rental people had no idea on how to use it. I had watched videos on what grit to use and thank goodness because the lady at the rental place tried to give me a 20 grit.. i looked at her like omg uh? I said to her "we are not tearing the floor up we are refinishing the floor lol omg she had no idea on what to give me so i explained to her what i needed and with time she found what i was looking for.. It has taken several hours to do our living room floor but we are done and it looks great! Thanks again for the awesome video!

    Wear layer is not really useful since u are not going to sand engineered wood floors. Many already have scratch resistant coatings.

    My parents had someone fill in the gaps in their wood floors with wood filler. It lasted about a year and then it all popped out. I was looking at epoxy and wondering if that was a better option for adhesion?

  • @fullerhunt1326
    @fullerhunt1326 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think a year for a finish that completely comes back to life is a good deal. I've had professionally refinished floors with stain and Poly that were completely scuffed in 6 months with normal wear and tear. Totally not worth the exorbitant price tag. I use this on kitchen counters that get a ton of wear and tear and it's fantastic.

    We have wide gaps sometimes over 1/4" in some areas. Should we add shims underneath first?
